They did kill the series when they closed studio Liverpool. Luckily they found a few studios to put together the excellent Omega Collection, but the minds behind making new tracks and ships are gone. As a long time fan, I take Omega as the swan song. Anything else is a crap shoot at this point

wait, so they made wipeout pure/pulse in 2005-2007, then remastered it on ps3, then remastered the remaster on ps4, and then took ships and maps from there and made a mobile game. So ships will be 17 y.o. when game releases. great, sony!

Judging by the looks of Talon's Junction, they straight up took the /older/ version from the PSP instead of the remastered one in Fury! They're really cutting corners with this just to milk the microtransactions...

@@blackmanta2527 ...WipEout HD/Fury primarily reuses the physics from Pulse as well as the ship designs from Pulse, and they also reuse tracks from Pure and Pulse. I don't know which game you've played, but HD/Fury was intentionally meant to be like Pulse, except with a boost in graphical quality and such. (Hence "HD")

For what it’s worth, Command & Conquer: Rivals (which saw similar backlash) launched in 2018 and still seems to be alive.

What we need is a WipEout Alpha. Compilation of the content from the first three games (all the tracks, the ships, the music. Yes, multiple ships for a single team) and I don’t care how get it as long as it’s an actual WipEout game, an actual legit one. I don’t care if Microsoft has to buy the rights from Sony and dump WipEout onto Xbox Game Studios. WipEout needs a W. We can’t let it have the same end as Ridge Racer

I picked a bad time to jump back in this series.

I'd pay a pretty penny for a halfway-decent WipEout-themed Motorsport Manager clone, but nope, this is what we get. :(

Yeah true, and I believe it's possible. Gyroscope for steering, touch controls for airbrakes, accelerate (also auto-accelerate option so left & right airbrake buttons are on left & right instead, or just toggle accelerate button), use pickup, drain pickup (also option to swipe the 'use pickup' button in any direction to drain it) and look behind. Double tap left/right airbrake to sideshift left/right. I have made scratches of touch controls for WipEout controls. Anti-gravity physics, optimization, hud & touch controls design etc. lots of things to consider. But I believe it's possible to have WipEout like game in mobile, but just the graphics will be toned down, or maybe a good low poly style, for mobile optimization. It's my dream.
