    I have the same model and it's one of the bows I grab often when shooting. A nice small, light and smooth bow to shoot with. Thanks for sharing.

    There’s a video that shows how Khatra movement makes the arrow to go faster. The guy uses a speedmeter machine

  • @jonnnybravo4092

    Khatra is not the same as follow through. Follow through is a movement of the bow based on its own power in the release. You get this by having less or no grip on the bow in your left hand. Doing so the bow kinda leans to the right. This is helpful when you shoot from the left side. It creates a V shape with your knuckle and the bow and prevents the arrow from falling out. But Khatra is generally on the right side and is used with a thumb release. Khatra happens when you move your bow hand forward first (slightly ) as you Pull back with your thumb to release. it gives the pressure to pull the string out of your finger. And its more of an act of flinging /pointing the arrow to the target . The power of the string then guides the bow forward with a little follow through and naturally moves the bow out of the way. Many times the khatra will even overcome a poor release by correcting it. Sometimes in more military styles they will actually pull the strong back with a jerk to give it more power. ( Think of how you shoot a rubber band off your thumb. You sometimes fling your thumb forward on release ). Dont mistake. You dont need a large movement of the bow. Once the arrow passes the bow hand the rest of the movement is kinda meaningless.

    I've been looking for stuff on Korean archery for a little bit now, and I think your video here might help me with getting the khatra down right 🤔 I've tried Saracen style khatra, but tbh, it hasn't proven terribly effective for me and there's a lot more "movement" to it from my perspective... which is slightly problematic considering I'm an aspiring bowhunter, and extra movement isn't a good idea when you're hunting. 😅 In any case, thanks for putting this out there! Cheers!

    The tips portion is intended to maintain a constant force per unit distance drawn near last 30-50% of pull. Conversely acceleration force can be maintain linearly once reased.

    If you slow this video down to 1/4 playback speed, you can see at 04:31 that the arrow has passed your hand before your hand has even started to "rotate" the bow. Whatever effect you are experiencing has probably very little to do with your Khatra technique. An average bow will cast an appropriately weighted arrow upwards of 150 feet per second. Even assuming you had a 36"draw, you would have less than .02 seconds to perform your bow hand movement to have a chance to effect the arrow flight. In other words, if you are not already moving your bow hand prior to release, you're probably not having an effect on the arrow at all.

    NICE VIDEO!!! IT WAS VERY DESCRIPTIVE... BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THE NAME IS GIVEN BY THE MOVEMENT OF THE ARM OR BY THE BOW... ROTATIONAL KAHTRA OR ROTATIVE KAHTRA IS A NAME I'VE HEARED MORE TO THE MOVEMENT OF THE BOW WHEN YOU SHOOT A JAPANESE YUMI OR MANCHU BOWS... BECAUSE THE BOW IS SO BIG THAN YOU CAN NOT DO THE MOVEMENT YOU DO IN THIS VIDEO... WHICH IS MORE LIKE A DIAGONAL KAHTRA... BUT ANYWAYS... THIS IS JUST MY POINT OF VIEW... I'M NOT THE OWNER OF THE TRUTH OR ANYTHING... JUST SHARING SOME COMMENTS... GREETINGS!!!

    as an additional comment on the khatra, there are many form a.k.a positions of korean khatra exist in the archery clubs... some of them do khatra by drawing side line of their bows from releasing arrow, but some of them have their bows hang down just like up and down... but commonly the term for calling all of the diversity form of korean khatra is called go-za che gi(고자채기)

    No brother it's called the snatched release otherwise known as the military technique. It's effect is to control the initial oscillation of the arrow and impart greater penetration and power into the arrow...done correctly a gain of 27% penetration is achieved. Now for what you are doing wrong...everything pretty much. You are supposed to draw leaving about an inch and a half yet to be drawn...the last inch and a half is then "snatched " back so fast that the eye can not see it and with a powerful jerk on the string the release and Khatra the string put to the ground. To onlookers it would appear that you have released without having come to full ......full draw in this case means the point of the arrow disappears behind the bows arrow pass so that it only rests upon the thumb. To snatch the arrow involves hard pressing the bow forward and rapid contraction of the muscles between the scapula. The Master of this technique is non other than Mihai Cozmei top rated and ranked horse archer in the world, you literally hear the power of his shots . It took me 3 years to learn the proper execution of this technique and yet still have not Master it by any means. You brother..have a long ways to go But keep up the practice you'll get it .

  • @jukkahuuskonen
    @jukkahuuskonen Жыл бұрын

    Mihai actually doesn't use thumb draw. He uses 'slavic draw', which holds the arrow with 3 fingers (pinkie to middle finger) and arrow is placed like in thumb draw (right side of bow for right handed archer). Also, his draw is quite short, stops pretty much in the same place as in modern archery. I attended his class last winter and tried it myself. It felt very fast and accurate way to shoot, but it just didn't feel right for me. I prefer thumb draw especially with Manchu ring.

    Pretty good attempt on achieving yugaeri on a Manchu bow! I tried the yarha sometime back and it does feel somewhat similar to a Yumi in a smaller package and shorter draw length. And since I do practice Kyudo, I often accidentally incorporate the proper grip and cause a slight rotation to happen. It's a bit challenging to do a full spin properly since it can't be forced and your grip should not be loosened for the bow to spin freely as that affects the arrow's trajectory and shooting consistency. I've kind of found that Asiatic archery does have influences here and about, and that's what drew me to learn more about it and various other forms of follow-through or khatra. Almost every form I've known seems to have some form of it, even in modern Olympic target shooting, so it's pretty fascinating!

    Nice presentation sir. In Japanese Kyudo, i believe i called Yugaeri (sorry if im wrong). For me, its more as follow through rather then khatra. The spinning thing is result from correct gripping of bow (tenouchi). Pressure on gripping or hand flip to make it spin would consider incorrect, its should spin naturally. As i quote from anime 'bow turning is a result, not a goal'- Tsurune.

    Looks like you are nocking too low, and that explains the need of bow hand clove. Arrow allways leaves the string at the hight it has been nocked to and if that hight is lower than your hand, the string is goind to press the arrow against your hand and thats why it scratches and hurts, nock tiny bit above your hand and the string lifts the arrow over it and no scracthing at all, and no bow hand clove needed. I do shoot bows up to 70 pound draw weight with both mediterranian and thumb draw and works with everything, its just physics, it doesn't know witch draw method is used, but for some reason some people seem to think that everything goes differently when using thumb draw instead of med draw, or other way around
