Getting Started with Asiatic Archery
Ever wanted to try Asiatic Archery, where you shoot a traditional recurve type bow using a thumb draw and release?
The first thing that most people do is go out and purchase a bow. But which one, for which style of Asiatic archery? There are different styles of Asiatic archery you ask? I'll help you navigate through the mass of information in a friendly and cordial manner, throwing in a bit of historical perspective along the way.
Welcome to JeffTV!
The first bow I bought was this bow: The Toth New Mongol Bow from the BowShop.Eu

Actually, the horn goes on the belly of the bow, wood or bamboo core, sinew on the back of the bow. The sinew backing is then usually covered to protect it from the elements....sometimes the covering is leather...but it can also be covered in birchbark. Nice to see your interest in Asiatic Archery.
I grew up shooting recurve bow s and shot them almost every day. I was shooting a 60 # bow instinctively and then I relocated from the country to the city. After not shooting for several years I can only draw a 35# bow back comfortably. Wow ...
Glad to see you hold those bow. Great first video.
Jeff that is a very very cheap bow and a the composite bows are on the expensive side around $2700 however a biocomposite made by Csaba Grozer is every inch as good and costs far less around 550 euro
Great first video! Can't wait for the next one 😊

You know, I have no idea! But there should be more!
I need to ask you something. You pull 28 inch draw (if you are a small person) or up to 30 inches?

Is because I want one of those bows toth style. And I need to know if I can pull closely of the 30 or 31 inches. Because I am a tall person

@@riggelvonkarma2589 Most bow manufacturers will specify a maximum draw length for their bows. Usually the lower poundage bows have a draw range that is greater than the higher poundage bows. The 40lb at 28 inch Toth bow, in my experience, can be drawn to 34 inches. Asiatic bows are generally able to be drawn back further than western bows and to still be safe to use in that manner.
Jeff i applaud you going with asiatic but just one small detail about your bow ...its not a Mongol the Mongol or very similar Mugal bow is very distinctive in that the siyhas are about half the limb length. What you have there is a symmetrical Magyar.

Also Jeff the chunkyness and weight seen in your bow is not seen in most modern asiatic bows yours is a very cheaply made type and doesn't show the superior performance typical of asiatic reflex bows. A high quality asiatic reflex bow is not as expensive as you think you don't need to be wealthy to aquire one now if you want a real horn sinew composite expect to spend $2700 however Csaba Grozer makes a biocomposite that is not affected by weather for around $600 .if you want a list of the best asiatic bow makers just ask me here.
not the most effiecent bow those siyahs are so big for no reason overbuilt
