    Nice approach into Seattle. I love the view of Mt. Rainier (I think).

    That's an unusual pattern on the centrepiece of the left engine fan. I've seen that same pattern on JT9D engines.

    Trent 700 has such a beautiful sound. Not only iconic the howl (Whale) but also nice buzzsaw. No wonder it's loved by majority of the community.

    I'll be taking this exact plane and airline this October for my 2 week 50th bday trip. Except i'm going from Boston non-stop to Honolulu 12hr in business class. Looking forward to it i hope the service is as good as i've read up on and heard from others.

    14:28 The Boeing 747 and the 767 Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines spooling up takeoff sound like the screechy underground train accelerates! That’s what they made. :)

    Turbulence.. To be expected in a high temp desert. Hot air rises and cold air descends and flying through those columns results in turbulent ride. Likely it all smoothed out around twenty thousand feet.

    Thank you for sharing your trip. Those long-haul flights are hard sometimes. Were you able to sit in First Class or Premium Economy while using your airline membership points? And were you able to spend some time in the Hawaii Airline lounge or shared lounge before and after you flight?

    We bought first class seats. It makes the trip much more enjoyable. We didn't use the Premier Club before this flight because we flew from Lihue and connected to our Seattle flight and only had about an hour in between flights. We did stop in for a snack and drink before our flight to Lihue since we got to the airport early and had time to kill.

    @@SIHAviation That was good you stop for a snack in Lihue.. It has been a few years before the pandemic that I went to Lihue, Hawaii. I loved it there walking along the beaches. Wow! Some great memories that I have of my trip.

    I never got to fly on Delta's L1011s, but my first wide body flight was on Hawaiian's L1011 and also flew the L1011 on TWA.

    Flying to Honolulu from 1990 to 2006 on Delta was alwsys fun. Esp.on the L1011 Tristar. Sadly they retired those widebodies in 2001 butthe 767 was the next best thing.

    Why Delta and American insist on using that single-aisle sardine can on a flight lasting at least 5 hours, but can go to 6 or even 7, is beyond me.

  • @SIHAviation
    @SIHAviation Жыл бұрын

    I remember the days when it was all widebodies to Hawaii. Sadly almost every flight from the West Coast is now on a narrowbody. That's why we've switched to flying Hawaiian. A330 with lie flat seats beats all the other domestic first class seats on the other airlines. It does involve connecting in HNL to get to Kauai even though the other airlines fly nonstop from Seattle. Problem with Delta's return flights is that they are redeyes.
