Hawaiian A330-200 - Honolulu to Seattle (Taxi & Takeoff)
Flight 22 from Honolulu to Seattle
Taken from Seat 3A (First Class)
Aircraft N388HA "Nahiku"
October 27, 2019
Takeoff: 11:50
Another visit home completed! Beautiful day for flying. After takeoff you have a great view of Waikiki. We flew fairly close to the coast this time and you can see down into Diamond Head crater. After passing Makapu'u Point, we made a left turn northward and you get views of the eastern and north coasts of O'ahu. It was after 10 p.m. when we landed and for some reason the flight crew left the cabin lights on so I wasn't able to get a good view of the landing. Apologies for the vibrations the camera picked up.
Inflight Meal:
First Course - Chicken Kabocha Cake with Togarashi Mayonnaise
Main Course - Braised Miso Beef with Roasted Potatoes and Vegetables
Dessert Service - Mango Pie by Hawaiian Pie Company

Thanks!
Nothing better than a first class ride! I flew first class from Virginia in 2018! The seats were awesome! Had my own little compartment! I think I was 4A!
Nahiku in the Hawaiian language means "Constellation of the Big Dipper"
I’ve never seen a departure so tight to the beach! Awesome video! Wonder if it’s cause you were heading to SEA. It’s usually HDG 140° as soon as you’re airborne then direct to the enroute fix.

Not sure why we did that departure. I've flown HNL-SEA before and we were farther from the coast. Was nice to get a closer view of Waikiki and the rest of the island.

SIH Aviation you were still on the MKK4 but they vectored you early to APACK. I studied HA22 on FlightAware and FlightRadar24 for the past few weeks-yours was the closest to the beach for sure, there were some 26R departures as well and most recently (from yesterday back to the 11/7) due to wind/weather, the SEA flights have been taking the C and E Routes and crossing to the north after crossing toward LA/SFO first. Reading back on this comment, yes I realize I’m a crazy avgeek lol.
beautiful take off video
