FlatbedTonightTV

FlatbedTonightTV

Flatbed Tonight takes the concept of a late night talk show and literally throws it out on the streets. We interview anyone we like ... and say anything we like. There are two stars on this show: The Flatbed and our guests.

We capture everything the street has to offer, traffic, noise, awkward moments and real people. It’s raw, it’s ridiculous, and weather dependent.

Watch as host Chris Hawes takes production values to a whole new low. We've hit the streets and we’ve been rolling ever since. Our team is small, committed or recently released and mostly related to each other. Filmed in Canada's Capital. New shows every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 4pm!

    Bobby Ryan can dislike or ignore women’s sports all he likes… but he doesn’t have to be an asshole about it. Ya free speech…. My parents taught me, Sticks and Stones… but Bobby needs to be more aware. Women’s sports are becoming more popular. I love PWHL… cuz I’m a hockey guy. But don’t disparage NCAA WBB which has been amazing

    So under rated in the US Phil on of my all time favorites and I didn't know about most of his career before NY Rangers. 72 was a legend of its own. I have it with The US Olympic Gold, let's stop there because these comps escalate. Tony also my Favorite goalie all time, again 72. Tell PE I would love a message from him a d how is that rookie ? I was at his first game. Your left wing. Don Maloney! Phil got the Rangers to the Stanley cup finals against the Dynasty! Some of us do remember

    Minor hockey in NJ ( house league ) Is a few hundred dollars. A session (12 weeks ) Travel hockey costs depending on tier can range from 4k. ( Tier 2 ) to 8/10k AAA tier 1. My 3 kids played all sports ( house league level is called township here in NJ very cheap and affordable.

  • @FlatbedTonightTV

    Thanks, wish it were as cheap here. House League Registration in Ottawa averages $824 plus $150 to $250 team fee just for house league. Some associations also charge HST 13% on top of that. Liam and I will still argue that team fees don't count. I say they do, because they are not optional. Regardless a kid cannot play for under $1000. But this ain't over :) A case of Beer is at stake. Regardless not cheap for the average working class family.

    @@FlatbedTonightTV It’s unreal I’ve been coaching youth hockey for years in the US that’s how I met Liam, it’s ridiculously expensive. I was coaching as I had two kids playing. At 19 it seems likely Gautier's parents might have something to do with it, like Liam said about Lindros. Torts would be a problem with me, but this kid grew up with hockey coaches being tough on him. I've heard that players like Torts.

    What about him? I addressed it on the show. He blew it by not reporting to Quebec in my opinion but he got the most out of his career regardless. What Gauthier did is not new but it's rare. Fortunately most are fine with the process.

    I think it's easy for us to criticize young NHL players in these situations but if we were "forced" to report to work for someone that we didn't want to work for, we'd have a different opinion. If free agency in the NHL was available at an earlier age for players and less restrictive I think that would help these "unhappy draft" situations for players.

    Suck it up. It's big business where one long term contract can set you up for life. Live where you want 10-12yrs later when you retire in your 30s as a multi millionaire. Believe me, the current rules will not change.

  • @FlatbedTonightTV
    @FlatbedTonightTV5 ай бұрын

    The NHL is built to favour the owners... after all without them there is no team and opportunity for players. Period. All players have the option within the CBA to sit out or go elsewhere in the world to play, so there is that. Professional hockey is BIG Business ...not as big as Football, Baseball, Basketball ... anything with a "ball" in the name. I think if the NHL wants to grow. Renaming it Hockey Ball is the way to go. :)

    The big thing I have about getting hit from behind is, you don't have to to prepare. At least if you saw a big hitter out there and you're heading his way, you can brace yourself for it. That's why hitting from behind is so dangerous. Even from the side, too. As for the Perron hit, my mind wanders back to a game on TSN from October of 1987, when Dave Brown nearly took Tomas Sandstrom's head off with a huge cross-check. Brown got 15 games, yet somehow had defenders (Don Cherry among them). I have no problem with sticking up for a teammate, but with a cross-check? I have a big problem with that.

    Irons faced one shot in 2:59 of work in relief of Hall, who played 2:01. Plante came on and worked 55 minutes of shutout hockey, picking up the win. Ron Schock scored the GWG in that game. His first NHL goal was assisted by two players, one of whom was Forbes Kennedy. Speaking of Toronto / Boston, 4/2/69 comes into my mind.

    A hattrick in two games is nice. Gretzky scored NINE goals combined in two consecutive games, 12/27/81 and 12/30/81. Previous to that, he had six goals in three games (And 84 goals after 66 games, before slumping). Speaking of Gretzky, who was second to Gretzky in goals that season with 64? 84/85, Bossy was second to Gretzky's teammate, Kurri, with 61 goals. It was tough for Bossy with Gretzky, Kurri, Lafleur, Gare, McDonald (66 goals in 82/83). Tough era.

  • @liammaguire6603
    @liammaguire66038 ай бұрын

    Two hattricks to start a season tied the record so that was very noteworthy for Matthews. Obviously Wayne never did that. It was tough for Bossy. Which is why I believe the argument for him as the greatest pure goal scorer ever completely fails - in part- because head to head with Wayne 79/80-86/87, Bossy is 92 goals behind him....I mean....it's great he had 9-straight 50 goal seasons. And Bossy is right at the top of my list of pure goal scorers- he's 2 or 3 all depending on how you want to grade or rank Wayne but there is no doubt, none whatsoever that the greatest pure goal scorer over a career in NHL history is OV. But man......is he looking slow right now. Let's see how their next 6-8 games go. Going to be interesting.

    @@liammaguire6603 Very true. "How can you be the best of all time...When you aren't even the best of your own era?" I think, maybe you could argue Gretzky had an edge over the likes of Lafleur and Bossy, in the sense that, he killed penalties (Thus, he played more minutes per game). I remember back in 1993, Gretzky made the point about how Bossy and Lafleur didn't kill penalties. (Well, not entirely true, as Bossy had a stint at that in 80/81, perhaps to help him get 50 in 50 and some more time next season. In his last two full seasons, Bossy killed penalties, also a bit in 86/87, when it all came to a sudden end. Lafleur DID kill penalties in 74/75, despite missing ten games. He would have probably won the scoring title that year had he not missed time. After Bowman left in '79 Lafeur was given some PK time as his overall game was actually getting better. He might have won the scoring title in 79/80 had he not missed six games) Personally speaking, both Bossy's and Lafleur's coaches missed the boat by not having them kill penalites (Ditto for Crosby) as BOTH were extremely underrated defensively.

  • @liammaguire6603
    @liammaguire66038 ай бұрын

    @@scottmorissey8915 Wayne had the edge over everybody. Guy and Bossy's legacy are intact. No shame being behind 99. Neirher Guy or Bossy were ever cut out for the PK. Easier assimilation for a center but regardless, we've deviated from the original point. OV is the greatest pure goal scorer over a career.

    @liammaguire do you know where and when the Rocket scored his first ever NHL goal?

  • @liammaguire6603
    @liammaguire66038 ай бұрын

    Yes, the Rocket scored his first goal at the Montreal Forum in a 10-4 win over the NY Rangers and goalie Steve Buzinski whose nickname was Steve 'the puck goes-inski Buzinski lol.... It was an unassisted goal and it actually was the game winner. Rocket was wearing number 15. Ironically Rocket became the all-time goal scoring leader in the NHL ten years later to the day - November 8, 1952 with career goal 325 passing Nels Stewart. Montreal beat Chicago that night and he scored the goal on Al Rollins. :).
