Hello mate. I recently bought a 7ht mag. It appears to be in very good condition, but it is ridiculously fast. Even on max mag it just wants to blow up. I have taken it apart and checked the magnofuge and everything looks and feels ok. At least I think so any way. Despite checking this it is an absolute pig to cast. Do you have any ideas. I have searched everything I can find on the net no joy. Thanks in advance.

  • @CastAwayFishingUK

Hi. Try to Spin the reel with mags on max and min and see how long it spins on both as the magnets might be installed incorrectly which i have seen. Check the neutral setting (see vid 46min it shows how to check). If this is all correct then use heavier oil in your bearings to slow it down. I use Yellow Rocket fuel on all my bearings but i would suggest another oil which will slow your reel down. Using thicker bearing oil will slow your reel down and fix your issue. Tight lines

I'm dog owner but always have them on lead when approaching anglers, being an angler myself I've had more fall outs especially on Hornsea north beaches, also had all my gear pissed on a thousand times. What I bought was a icon sling for my tripod put my chopping board in it and my bits and bobs, it's a good piece of kit when you are following the tides up and down. Loved the video, hope to drop on you for a chat , I fish all that coast.

So how did you get on with the porridge?? Seems like a good idea in principle, like sawdust soaking up blood and lots of lovely (!) looking juice left in bowl. FWIW, clingfilm gets in a real mess when sealing ends, so I cut up one of those thin degradeable bags into 22 x 2" ish squares and much easier to handle with wet hands.

What type of tripod do you use because I found a long taken down tripod (7ft), unbalances the holdall. However the salt tripod makes it balanced because its shorter when takendown. I use 2 century TTSM rods in their padded case and I can squeeze a small rod for spinning and a bait pump in this

Now here's the thing: We used to catch loads of pouting in Sussex. I think the first fish I ever caught was a pouting (1969) but now they are a rarity. i suspect that like flounders (also rare) they were used for POT BAIT and the numbers decimated.

  • @CastAwayFishingUK
