    Dog whisperers are rare. You can tell if they will have success if there's a change within just a few minutes. Seriously. Otherwise you need to find someone else to work with. Great job.

    Seems like a special gift you must have. I cannot imagine just anyone could do this, even if they followed what you said 100%. Dogs that can be 'temperamental', always tend to act it out around me. I suppose I have a gift of my own 😂

    There is truth to what you say. If the dog is an Alpha, you yourself need to be an Alpha, if the dog is a Beta, you at least have to be a Beta. Not every dog will be a good fit for every person. A passive person can not safely own a high energy, confident Alpha dog. With that said, the right person can teach that Alpha dog to respect people and dogs who are less dominant than they are and in most cases that Alpha dog will be okay with non Alpha people. The deciding factor is whether that Alpha dog is a diplomat or an asshole. Cheers ✌️

    @@dukelib16 Interesting. I figured there was a reason why I have always been hesitant to get a dog.. mostly the responsibility of being the dogs guardian, which is the same reason why i've always been afraid to be a father my whole life. The responsibility freaks me out. I do tend to be more passive, so perhaps my hesitance is justifiable. Lol. Great response, thank you.

    I have the smallest standard poodle who is sweet at home, loving, and she's a super faster learner. I feed her, groom her, teach her, work from home so she's with me all day. However she barks at other dogs (rarely while on walks) and I signed up for a weekly obedience class for which I've already done everything they are "teaching" and my time there is only trying to get her to stay calm and quiet. We are a month in and she still barks most of the class. Some days are better than other with a lot of treats I can get her busy smelling and searching for tossed food but its very difficult getting her to focus in a basketball court or "yard area" with 8 other dogs and handlers. Sometimes I will take her to pet friendly stores like Home Depot and she won't bark at people and other times she'll bark at a random person in the middle of being what seems very relaxed. She also barks at my youngest (15yr old) son at home. Sometimes I feel like she's resource guarding me. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions or help or if there's a video you've done you think that will help me.

    Try what I do in this video whenever she barks. You make a Tsss sound to get her focus, get in front of her to block her and ask her to sit. Then you look at her until she looks at you and then you lick her neck with your fingertips. If you still have trouble, please give me a call. This should only take minutes to fix. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dal4rbiwfrzMeaQ.htmlsi=Gvl3Vd6v-9Fyn8kQ Cheers ✌️

  • @rochelle6006
    @rochelle60062 ай бұрын

    Interesting, I have a amstaff who has never liked being pet on the head, I picked this up early and have always naturally gone to scratch around neck and ears instead and always warn anyone to do the same , she also has barked at anyone who has gone to do this , also stood her ground and even one time gone to nip- but when we approach other dogs she will lay down on all haunches and wait for the dog to approach, more of a submissive hello to them , so is that a submission towards other dogs she meets and a unsure or fearful aggression towards humans? She acts scared or wary but from your videos she may just be unsure , as she does not back down or tuck tail. Ive only noticed this again from watching your videos I thought she was just scared or unsure but maybe not , She is also only 18mths old so still a very young dog learning her new surroundings and need to learn how to deal with it . If she is like this now will she always be? I am loving your videos , I would like to understand and communicate with my dogs in a way they also understand 😉👌🏾

    I was taught that you must model the behavior that you want from the dog. If you want them to be calm, you must be calm. They look to you for cues as to how to react. Too many people yell at a reacting dog, somehow expecting them to calm down.

    I have a 5-6 month old Blue heeler/ maybe min pin maybe shepherd mix...he pesters my 5 year old lab mix...biting her paws and growling trying to get her play...the lab is very patient, unlike the great Pyrenees/Airedale mix(alpha) My question is should I correct him or leave that up to the lab...I realize it is puppy behavior, but it is rather annoying...she can't hardly walk or sit beside me without him pulling on her.

    Hi Laura, Not all dogs correct, only dominant dogs do. The more dominant the dog, the more assertive and higher level of corrections they use. If the puppy does not listen to the older dog, you step in between them and move the puppy away. Cheers

    I agree. Having bred n train dogs for 30 + yrs n having 22 foster children having been in the system for a long time they test you n need to know you have the know how, the courage n strength to confront calmly yet experience to draw from bc they know immediately whose doesn't have a clue vs who not to mess with bc they're in it for the long haul to enforce consequences for bad behaviors yet deal with it as a matter of fact n not take it as a personal challenge. For the good of the family n learning if you can't handle it then I the adult (caregiver) will step in to keep everyone safe n ask what's going on or try to see what options I can give you to help you process it no matter how long it takes. I'm not giving up on you n I'm doing my best to say I still value you as we work through thus each time to help guide you to where it's best for you n you're slowly realizing I'm not angry or upset with ÿou às you have been buy still getting my point across to you. Ŵe can do this you tell me how n the pace you can or cannot handle.

    I disagree with your assessment between dog mothers and human mothers.. WE COULD LEARN VALUABLE LESSONS.. Take notes, MOTHERS! You can have 5 children, each one is different but Mother must establish her authority..Child must trust & respect Mother. She is their protector…

    We have a 2yo Moodle who continually barks at people passing by our back gate (which leads to a forest walk). How do I correct her calmly when she is 100m away, to show her I am the protector? Thanks, Jenni

  • @dukelib16
    @dukelib1610 ай бұрын

    You have to be at the gate with her to correct her when she barks and teach her to be calm and relaxed instead. When she barks, make the TSSS noise, get in between her and the gate, walk into her to move her back from the gate about 15 feet. Ask her to sit and look at her until she looks at you. Ask her to stay and turn and go back to the gate. If she starts to follow you, turn back, TSSS her and block her to move her back again. Ask her to sit, look at her till she looks at you, ask her to stay, then turn and go back to the gate. Stay at the gate until she lays down or walks away. Keep doing this until she no longer barks at the gate. If she listens to you most of the time it shouldn't take long for her to learn this lesson. Cheers ✌️
