I never trained these dogs to be so good, not barking, knowing and going into their crates and being calm and relaxed in their minds, I taught them.
if you want your dog to be calm, teach them to be calm.
If you want your dog to be relaxed, teach them to be relaxed.
if you want your dog to go in and out of your house in a calm, quiet and orderly fashion, teach them to do so.
The trick is learning their language so you can easily teach them all these lessons and more. It would be difficult for you to teach a French child if you only speak English. Dogs don't speak English. You'll notice I hardly used any words and no treats and the main noise to come from my mouth was the TSSS noise, which simulates the Dog Mother's command and correction bark.
When I want to correct a dog, I TSSS.
When I want a dog to sit, I TSSS.
When I want a dog to lay down, I TSSS.
When I want a dog to come to me, I TSSS,
when I want a dog to move away from me, I TSSS.
The main form of verbal communication in dogs is the bark. Their are many different types of barks and with different levels of intensity and they all mean something different. It is the projection of thought or intent that the dog listens to. I project sit and the dog sits. I project lay down and the dog lays down.
The final and most important part of all of this teaching is affection. But dogs don't pet each other on the head or hug each other to show affection. A Dog Mother licks her puppy's necks to show them physical affection, to thank them and to console them. We simulate this lick with our fingertips. You gently and slowly move your fingers in unison to mimic a tongue on your dog's neck just behind the curvature of the jaw. The is the ONLY place and way you can touch your dog where they feel it and understand it as physical affection. Everything else feels good, but it is not physical affection. To humans, a massage feels good, but a hug is affection.
