    Hi Marc Hope youre safe and well. Quick question: What’s the best gimble for BMPCC4K whilst the CORE SWX POWERBASE EDGE battery is stuck on? Thanks in advance Is the crane lab 3 a good gimble for the BMPCC4K and can it be attached whilst the core powerbase battery pack is attached underneath the camera?

  • @marcmartinezfilms

    @marcmartinezfilms

    4 жыл бұрын

    SKY MAGICIAN thats a good question. Unfortunately I have no experience using the powerbase. The problem with those bottom mounted power bases is that it raises the height of the cam and on a gimbal it could hit the rear motor when going into a low angle shot. Another con is the additional weight. It gets heavy after a while and any additional weight on the gimbal you will begin to feel and it gets exhausting. I switch out bats, I have 7 bats that last a day’s shoot. I dont mind switching them out. Id rather do that than deal with the headache of balancing, shot limits, and extra weight. Rule of thumb, keep your cam and gimbal as lightweight as possible. It makes it easier to handle as well as setup, especially on a gig. Im not saying it cant be done. I’m just saying for myself its not worth it on a gimbal setup. On a tripod for sure, all day.

    I was wondering if you had any tips on balancing the roll axis? I found that the roll axis would balance horizontally but anytime I lifted it up it would tip back down to horizontal rather than staying in one place. The only way I got the roll axis to balance properly is to change the tilt axis but then it would ruin the tilt. Would love to know what you did! I've also been having issues where the BMPCC4K is seemingly too top heavy and I don't have enough slack to even balance it!

  • @marcmartinezfilms

    @marcmartinezfilms

    4 жыл бұрын

    Ric Rawlins I would imagine the extra height would bump the camera into the rear motor for the tilt axis. As it is you have to set it far back on the plate to balance a zoom lens. It will also offset the center of gravity and make it harder to balance. Not to mention the added weight that starts getting heavy on long takes. Too many cons imo. I would recommend against it. I switch out batts. Its easy access and takes ten seconds. It allows the pocket 4K to work with the Crane 3 freely and lightweight.

    I have two questions. You say that the speedbooster xl works best on this camera, why do you think so? Isnt the xl designed for fullframe lenses rather than apsc like that sigma zoom? Secondly, how do you pull focus in this setup? I see there is a focus wheel on the gimbal, does it need an extra motor or can it controll the focus via usbc through the camera? Also, I can image it would be hard to even operate the focus wheel with this handle design, which I actually find quite good.

    nordfresse it is designed for full frame lenses. I have a full set of Rokinons and there is no vignetting on my widest 16mm lens. @@marcmartinezfilms Not sure I understand you correctly but with a focal reducer it is not like with normal mounts, where you can use any ff lens for apsc cameras as well, because the image circle covers more real estate than apsc needs anyway. With a focal reducer however you shrink the image circle, thats why it is exactly the other way around: the xl (0.64x) can only be used with ff lenses, while the ultra (0.71x) works with both ff and apsc lenses. Because it does not shrink the image circle quite as much. I am sure you know all that anyway...

    @@nordfresse correct again but the difference with .71 on a 50mm lens reduces the focal length to 35.5mm as opposed to .64 reducing to 32mm. You get a wider FOV which for me is essential. And in 4K on the BMPCC 4K, APSC lenses are compatible.

    Can’t find anybody talking about how to connect this to the wireless transmitter. Nothing I do works. I have my camera through the HDMI connected to the crane threes mini HDMI. Everything is updated and I can’t get a picture on my phone. I get it to connect remotely and I can move it around with the phone through the app. but I don’t see an image

    Mesogreat I will be posting a video that goes over the wireless transmission capabilities. Fyi, the image lag is enough to render it useless. Its not quite there yet. I’ll post a vid soon.

    David Boerst as far as I know there is no camera control for the BMPC’s through a cable on this gimbal . Only Bluetooth.

    When you use it in the plural go ahead and say Axes. When you are using it in the singular like the roll axis for example its axis! Painful watching you say axes 500 *
