    Hi, I understand the Pro is larger than the regular 6K. The 6K was already big for the Crane 3. I would imagine its too wide especially with a cage. Try mounting with no cage. Other than that I dont own the Pro so I dont think I could be much help. Good luck.

    I typically use my Crane 3 LAB gimbal with the Zhiyun monopod by using one of two transmount quick connects. When I remove the folding tripod base, I attach it to the second transmount quick connect that I've placed on the left side of the rear handle of the gimbal. This gives me better rotational control of the gimbal when mounted on the monopod, (as the folding tripod now becomes a side mounted handle). I really like this setup. I've purchased a BMPCC4K app that I like very much. kzread.info/dash/bejne/enyXxMqhXdaen7w.html I'm building a DIY vest/arm setup as seen in the following video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eoenxZWimNWWiqw.html

    What was your experience actually using the follow focus while operating the gimbal? That was what I was most interested in since the Crane 3 doesn’t seem ergonomically set up to do that very well. Any insight would be appreciated!

  • @marcmartinezfilms
    @marcmartinezfilms4 жыл бұрын

    ShelbyWorks the follow focus should be named something else. You can NOT follow focus a subject. Theres is major latency so you tend to overshoot and then back up and overshoot again. I have my focus peaks turned all the way up and still cant land it. The focus wheel has no hard stops either it just goes on forever. I use for the iris wheel on prime lenses now. I just invested in the nucleus nano and a separate wireless video setup for follow focus completely defeating the purpose of the focus wheel. The zoom rocker comes is handy on zoom lenses. Hope that helps.

    Hi Marc Hope youre safe and well. Quick question: What’s the best gimble for BMPCC4K whilst the CORE SWX POWERBASE EDGE battery is stuck on? Thanks in advance Is the crane lab 3 a good gimble for the BMPCC4K and can it be attached whilst the core powerbase battery pack is attached underneath the camera?

  • @marcmartinezfilms
    @marcmartinezfilms4 жыл бұрын

    SKY MAGICIAN thats a good question. Unfortunately I have no experience using the powerbase. The problem with those bottom mounted power bases is that it raises the height of the cam and on a gimbal it could hit the rear motor when going into a low angle shot. Another con is the additional weight. It gets heavy after a while and any additional weight on the gimbal you will begin to feel and it gets exhausting. I switch out bats, I have 7 bats that last a day’s shoot. I dont mind switching them out. Id rather do that than deal with the headache of balancing, shot limits, and extra weight. Rule of thumb, keep your cam and gimbal as lightweight as possible. It makes it easier to handle as well as setup, especially on a gig. Im not saying it cant be done. I’m just saying for myself its not worth it on a gimbal setup. On a tripod for sure, all day.

  • @marcmartinezfilms
    @marcmartinezfilms4 жыл бұрын

    Ric Rawlins I would imagine the extra height would bump the camera into the rear motor for the tilt axis. As it is you have to set it far back on the plate to balance a zoom lens. It will also offset the center of gravity and make it harder to balance. Not to mention the added weight that starts getting heavy on long takes. Too many cons imo. I would recommend against it. I switch out batts. Its easy access and takes ten seconds. It allows the pocket 4K to work with the Crane 3 freely and lightweight.
