Your ruminating mind can be a gift, a tool or a resource that can improve the quality of your sleep.

So many people struggle with ruminating thoughts when they get into bed. It’s like their mind decides to churn over every minute detail of their day, or even their life, in a cycle of thoughts they struggle to switch off.
How do you feel about your ruminating mind? Is it friend or foe?
Most people would say foe since it keeps them awake at night when they desperately want to sleep.
But what if I told you that you could use your ruminating mind to improve the quality of your sleep by flipping your perception of these unruly thoughts?
I know that befriending your uncooperative mind is a big ask when it's busy chattering away and reminding you of all sorts of negative things you would prefer to ignore, especially when you are trying to get to sleep.
But what if we could use our ruminating mind as a tool, a resource, or even a gift that allows us to see what is out of balance in our lives? Yup, instead of working against it by attempting to ignore it (or let’s face it, trying to shut it up 🥴 and judging it), what if we started working with it?
In today’s video, I challenge you to do an information gathering exercise. I explain how writing down all the thoughts that keep you awake for seven days might just lead you to discover the root cause of your sleep issue. Once you’ve gathered this information, you can take steps to make the necessary changes to improve the quality of your sleep.
I’ll end with one of my favorite quotes by Henry Ford:
“If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.”
So, if you want a different result with your sleep, you’ve got to try something different. And this information gathering exercise might just be the place to start!
Have fun with this challenge, and if you need any support, don’t hesitate to get in touch at support@sleepsuccessacademy.com.
Hugs,
Carol
