World Chess Champion Ding Liren returns for the 86th edition of the Tata Steel Masters, a 14-player single round-robin taking place from 13-28 January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.
The time control is 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided by two blitz (3+2) games. If still tied, the players keep playing single "sudden death" games where White gets 2.5 minutes and Black 3 minutes until one side wins. The monetary prizes will be shared evenly. Out of all the hobbies i have who would've thought that watching videos of chess analysis by Antonio would be my exclusive all-time favorite. Surprised you didn't comment anything about the Qb6 move at 16:58. It seems so much better to me to take the queen trade, and after Rxd7 you can play Rxa4 and the position looks much better than what we get with Qb6. I thought I was missing something so I ran it through the engine, and even the engine favors Qxd7 over Qb6 by almost a full point.

For people asking why can’t king take pawn on h5 @ 11:00 - its because white replies with f4, now look at the black king, he has no squares left except the h file and Rh2 will be check mate. U can play exf4 but then white replies with exf4 and now the threat is Rh2 check mate again. To prevent this, you will have to give up your rook as black by playing Rg6+ and then white replies with Bxg6. There is no other way to prevent check-mate if you take the pawn on h5.

I wonder why at 11.02 Gukesh didn't take the h5 pawn

At 37:22 I would G7 check, then after the king moves I would give back the rook with G2. Probably the pawn on C3 would beat me though
