So happy to see you with the CP88. I had a Roland and just could not get used to their virtual piano sound so I traded it in after a few years on a Nord Piano 4. While I liked the piano sounds in the Nord, I was frustrated by the clicking noises of the keybed, the lack of memory in the NP4 and the lack of organ samples. So I returned the Nord and bought the CP88 and so glad I did. I love it! Easy to use, great key action, love how I can mix 3 sound engines and the sounds are all excellent. Yamaha did a great job on this!

It sounded great when you played clair de lune.

Although I wouldn’t give up my Roland LX-7 with its modeled sound I feel that Yamaha digitals have a superior piano sound. This just sounds better even though it doesn’t mimic a CFX exactly. Good video!

Hey James! Love the channel. I recently purchased this piano. Do you have any recommendations for studio monitors or practice amps this (or other digital pianos) would sound the best with?

I was watching your very first video a couple of minutes ago and I looked at the date on it and noticed that June of this year made it 10 years for you here on KZread. Congrats on that but I'm a little surprised that you didn't make an anniversary video.

Great review! By chance have you tried the Yamaha CP300? It's heavier because there are two large speakers resident on each side, which provide not only excellent sound but also adds a very nice reverb to the feel.

Interesting review, you are lucky to try out all these pianos! Might those controls be "rocker switches"? Is the word you are looking for to describe the black keys, "abrasive"?

I heard in the playing that the sound of the piano sounds like a little bit far away from an approach perspective, i don't know if you was playing with a little bet of wet reverb maybe but i heard that, kinda is not in front or centered.

Thanks, James. Enjoyed this. As you said, it didn't really sound exactly like a piano, but nevertheless the almost bell-like clarity actually served Clair de Lune rather well, I thought. Looking forward to your more in-depth review. What is the price range of this keyboard?

Just a few days ago I heard Ravel's "Ondine" played on an acoustic CFX in a fairly small hall (for such a powerful piano). I think the S7X (or CF6) may have worked a bit better in this smallish hall but hearing the CFX on the CP88, well, it's not really a CFX. It's something like an EQ'd recording of a CFX but nuances and tone painting are way, way watered down. Still, not bad at all. It's a digital slab keyboard and portable although I think the P515 or CLP685 is a warmer CFX sound. The CP88 is fairly Nord inspired. Thanks, James. As usual, a great presentation and Yamaha really wraps it up very well in the box.
