I'm so impressed with Avowed now. Looks like it's gonna be so much fun. Art style is just stunning, I'm just stocked seeing it. That what makes it unique and stand out from other so called dark and realistic RPGs which are very competitive in the market right now. All I wanted to see from Avowed is more gameplay, more magic spells, dialogues and all RPG aspects of it, but I get it as developer direct was short and there were other 4 games still had to show, so that's fair. But Avowed actually needs its own showcase (20 minutes plus). Hope Obsidian does this. I'd so be happy if it's more than a 40 plus hours game, finger crossed.

It didn't look that good to me. Some of the environments looked really good but the character models. Nah... I'm sure GP has a budget cap. And say this because of how avowed looked and the fact that HELL BLADE isn't bigger than the first game.

The whole point of the game is to be this intense uncomfortable psychological experience, making it into a sprawling 30 hour epic would absolutely detract from that. I say this as someone who is not particularly interested in the game, but it’s obvious what they’re going for

I think a while back the developers referenced scaling it down from being Skyrim sized, to more like Outer Worlds with more density of activities within the different biomes/zones

Great games for xbox. Love indiana jones. Looks fantastic and fun. Hellblade 2 best looking game this generation and i like the style from avowed. Im sure obsidian make a great rpg game

I'm not wishing for an open world 50 plus hours Hellblade but to be honest, i expected it to be more like 20 hour-ish at least. I mean, dev time was pretty long, what did they do in all that time?

I bought the original Alan Wake on day 1 for the 360. The only reason I haven't bought AW2 is because there isn't a physical version. That said, if AW2 hits $10 digital, i'll bite.

I do wonder what studios Xbox could acquire to make more games like these, the obvious ones that come to mind are Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montréal, IOI, Remedy, Crytek (Ryse) and Asobo (Plague Tale).

I thought ppl seemed hyped that Blade was 3rd person even though Arkane is known for 1st person. As for avoiding comparisons to Uncharted & Tomb Raider I think that's kind of weak. Was Uncharted afraid of being compared to Indy or TR? They should inspire and push each other imo. I'm fine with the devs vision if that's why they did it or course. Great format of show. I would say pipeline still needs work tho where the big early 1st party 2024 games at?

I was expecting hellblade 2 to be more in the 15-20 hour range given the expanded scope and budget and production time. Feel slightly let down, but it's still my most anticipated game right now. It looks fantastic.

Anyone who expected hellblade 2 to be any different from the previous game in terms of experience was short sighted. A tight 7-8 hour experience was inevitably to be expected and a perfect title for digital only and gamepass. Day 1 purchase for me again. Looks great.

The Developer Direct was amazing. Really excited for Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones and Avowed! I really enjoyed Halo Infinite on launch and am still enjoying the new content. Been a fan since Halo CE. I think it’s a great idea they move onto a new game.

I bought my rog ally only for gamepass.. years ago use to play on steam gog and especially Battlenet. But I only got so much time for gaming and xbox is enough for me occassional gaming on switch and playstation. I still rather my series x over a Rog ally but it is a great hand held so is the steam deck

Playstation may have outsold Xbox on hardware but both announced active users for December 2023 & Xbox had 120 million & PlayStation had 123 million. So it's closer than most think.

Well you were half right about the sonic boom of a whip it doesnt come from where it lands its from the air compressed directly in front of the tip just like a jet which would make it work excellent for distraction as it would throw the sound

we dont know if alan wake 2 sold well or not. it was a digital game, so stores couldnt report physical sales, and epic doesnt report their sales numbers to circana (former npd group). neither does larian, but we can get an idea based on steamdb and review numbers.

Im not going to lie, I started considering switching platform. I have been on Xbox since 20I0 with the 360, but its rough being a Xbox fan. we dont get a lot physical releases or most games from Japan. I like having the option of buying physical weird hidden jems like (Signalis, World of Horror, Hollow Knight etc.) But with Xbox it self not even releasing 1st party physical copies, its just redundant to stay on the platform. When PC already provides that digital market with many more game options and mods. 95% of my purchases are 3rd party games that can be found everywhere else. So i guess Xbox is willing to lose long time revenue from players that buy everything for a xbox and are subscribed to ultimate. Obviously Xbox would go from being my main platform, to something that gets turn on a couple times a Year, and pc will be the go to platform "next gen". End of an era, i guess.

On PC, it doesn't matter that physical doesn't exist but only because games are cheap af. Consoles should stay physical until retailers can sell digital games and pricing becomes much more competitive.

The reason Indiana Jones being first person can cause some people to get motion sick is because it's not mainly a shooter. The games that often cause it are mostly melee focused, like a dying light for example. Some community members that are complaining about 1st person also got motion sick playing those type. Melee in first person moves awkwardly causing people with motion sickness to experience it faster because the motions don't look natural in 1st person. In VR to a degree seeing your hand move when you move your hand and placing it in a depth of space mimicking real life fixes this issue for a lot of people. That being said to me personally the disappointment with the 1st person is it makes the combat look like Wolfenstein without the focus on guns literally removing the best part of that series. Indy on paper is a pretty generic boring character, Harrison Ford's mannerisms make it great and you can't see that while in 1st person.

You should never set expectations on length...

They need to finish infinite's co-op mode.

Ff7 remake is not coming to xbox guys. Sony has been claiming that franchise and showing a ff7 remade game since the ps3 which tells me they likely had a pretty active role in the development. The game came out 4 years ago, stop waiting to play it for hopes it is going to xbox. If you have a ps4 or ps5 just play it and enjoy.

The one big game per quarter always seemed like a goal or wishful thinking, but not realistic. I don't care how many games you have in development, they always get pushed and not at the same rate.

the ubisoft quote when he said gamers are gonna have to get used to not owning their games wasnt because of live service games. he was asked what he thinks about subscription services. he was asked this: "but what is it going to take for subscription to step up and become a more significant proportion of the industry?" so he was asked about the topic directly. ubisoft was not out of pocket, but theyre an easy punching bag for the industry, so the industry took a sucker punch for clicks. i dont like modern ubi for the most part but that shit was shameless

32:27 We don't own the games even when they're on disc. Very few games come complete on the disc. Most need a large day 1 patch to be playable. If they are ever removed from the store front you would have to have the patched game stored on an external drive to import it and play with the disc, and even then the game might require a check in with the store front to play. We stopped owning our games a long time ago.

They are, and always have been, referring to titles like Minecraft, ESO expansion packs, etc. Most Sony fans are just trolling and don't actually believe they're ever getting the bigger names titles. The rest are just ignorant and have no idea how the business works. You're never going to see stuff like Starfield, Elder Scrolls VI, Indiana Jones, Blade, the next Doom, etc. on a Playstation. It's been made crystal clear that these games will ONLY be on platforms that have Game Pass. Playstation does not have Game Pass. Thus, these games will not be on Playstatioin. You can throw a fit and pound sand all you want and it's not going to change anything. Microsoft is already making more revenue and profit than Sony is with their respective gaming departments. There's no need to port everything over there. This is 100% for making themselves look smaller to regulators so they can acquire more publishers and developers. Because of all the acquisition wars going on, and how Sony has small attach rates to their big budget games with razor thing profit margins, it's far more likely that, over 10 years from now or so, Sony will be the one getting out of the hardware business and going full third party simply because they don't have the money to compete with these massive corporations. Do it now. You wont regret it. You can play sony's games and xbox's games. Then the pc exclusives as well. Plus you get more control options and the ability to play with mods and with whatever resolution and framerates you are interested in. Then after all that, youll realize how silly it was that you were concerned that xbox games were going to other platforms since you now have access to everything and it has only enriched your life while affecting none of your console friends.

To be fair, i complain internally at the wealth of 3rd person games. People have preferences. I have a rule, the bigger the character is on screen in a 3rd person game, the worse detail went into how it plays. Mario- small. The camera is designed to give you a full view of obstacles and gameplay. Kratos- huge. Field of view is zoomed in so hard on kratos so you can see his hair follicles, but you can hardly see the battlefield. Other people love that though and they arent wrong to have that preference.

I thought PS zealots had 8K gaming rigs, play on your imaginary PCs, why they begging for Xbox games? Enjoy the drought ponies! 😂

Frankly I expected better from Avowed in terms of the graphical presentation. The game has the same outdated look as Starfield and it’s melee combat. I would have much preferred a more realistic and mature art style. Hellblade looks pretty cool! Ara History Untold looks pretty rough graphically and the gameplay is a direct copy of Civilization. The game does not look appealing to me. Visions of Mana looks like a game for little children, suited for Nintendo Switch but not for Xbox. Indiana Jones looks very good, but I am concerned about their “modern audience” talk and the fact that the game is linked to Lucasfilm and Disney…. And the fact that the same studio made Wolfenstein Youngblood…. I have the same sentiment with Marvel’s Blade, everything Disney touches or is involved with turns to s***. Overall not very impressed with the Developer Direct. Let’s hope the Xbox Showcase in June brings more interesting games to the table!

1:25:37 On point, mostly imo. Avowed looks OK now but that combat is really stiff and dated. Not impressed at all with Hellblade though. Looks more like an interactive short film with no substance. Need more game. Games didn't impress me the way I hoped.

For Indy, I think the story will be solid since Todd Howard is executive producer. The next Wolfenstein/MachineGames though , I do expect the studio to go back to questionable writing(newCollosus/Youngblood). I’d love to be wrong and the studio crushes the narrative in their next game that doesn’t have PoddHoward involved.

You can see how desperate the Xbox clowns are for decent announcements and games when rating this 🐶💩 as being amazing. The direct was awful and the games screamed 5/10.

So Karma hitting hard to xbots you all thought hellblade 2 will be the xbox GOW just Laughable, second sudenly xbots saying 8 hours its more than ok Ironically where was that energy with Spiderman 2, and finally Indiana Jones just another Mediocre shooter double A game sadly for xbots Not even remotely close to Uncharted 4 a 2016 game. Sorry guys maybe 2025 will be the xbox year right?

Therefore his opinion is irrelevant 🤣 What's also laughable is that if you ask him what games he plays and what games which are releasing this year that he is looking forward to playing, he will throw a temper tantrum and says that he doesn't have to say/mention what games he plays or is looking forward to playing (because we all know that he is afraid and embarrassed to admit he doesn't play any games) 🤣
