I fail to see what the issue is with an Indiana jones game being like the older movies. It’s literally the reason why we love the character. Since when is sticking true to the IP a bad thing. The game that you want already exists. Its called uncharted, or Tomb Raider. So more of the same, but yet original. Makes absolutely no sense

I think the point is that the game comes off just like a interactive narrative experience. It doesn't do anything new in the universe but replicated the same old sets. Maybe to some people that's fun but I understand that being totally underwhelming. It's basically Uncharted with nostalgia points. If that sells it to you, good for you, but it's understandably boring to someone who likes Indiana Jones but isn't particularly crazy to just play what is basically the movies over again.

@@nezahuatez its not based on any of the movies. It is its own original story. With all new plot and setting. So what you said makes no sense. It just keeps the tone of the older movies. Which it absolutely should. Indiana jones was never a mass killer in the movies. His trusted tool is a whip. Not a gun. Answer me this question. Since when is it a bad thing to stay true to the source material?

As interesting as an edgy take on Indiana Jones might be, I think it was the right call to have it be faithful to the tone of the films. At its core, the Indy franchise is based off of 1940's cliffhanger serials that George Lucas grew up with. Making it edgy and modern instead of whimsical and swashbuckling would just kill the spirit Indy was built on. And the recent Tomb Raider trilogy already fills the niche of a dark and gritty take on archeology adventures.

Only thing I didn't like is the obvious Self-insert of Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Helena Shaw) apparently in this. My question is WHY does an Indy videogame need TWO protagonists? That Helena Shaw clone should just be a background character and Indy (who is and should be the STAR of his own VideoGame) be the Main Character. And her comment "try to keep up" just smacks of Dial of Destiny, it's nauseating. Are we going to hear her belittle, mock, and insult Indy throughout the game, too? This game would've been lit if they didn't add "her".

if they didn't have Harrison Ford's likeness for Indiana Jones it would be a huge mistake. Think of the Marvel Avengers game when they all looked like weird porn star knockoffs. Also think politically, customers would take a step back and wonder if it was a cut-corner game ("wow, they didnt even get his likeness"). I feel like Lawrence is also kinda forgetting how cheesy and over the top the original movies were - they're silly fun. That's a huge part of the charm.

He's just a guy that's played more titles than the average consumer by a wide margin. So i can understand he's approach being more critical. The funny thing is on his personal streams the only impression i get is how much he loves the medium as a art form. Talking about menu music and font choices. Tldr: never change Lawrence

Gotta say I disagree with Laurence about Hellblade, it seems like they are trying to take the first game and take things to the next level. I agree that it doesn't seem as if the game will be much more complicated, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I feel like too often we have had game sequels come out and it falls so incredibly flat because they tried to do too much and ran out of budget early on and became a terrible mess. With how many games there are these days, having more of the same good experience is a good thing. Considering the size of the developer and what they are aiming to do with bringing more exposure and understanding of the experience of psychosis, I'm glad they arn't trying to make their sequel an epic Video Game. I was a big fan of the first game also because it was a nice contained experience, the combat was obviously not the focus, telling the story was. Maybe its just because I don't seek the same things as Laurence does from games, but I felt like he was putting the game down for being too simplistic and so I felt like trying to give another perspective, even if no one will probably read all of this. I hope this comes across as merely discourse and not a NUH UH, UR WRONG.

I’m sorry but this really comes across as pretentious when talking about the Indy game. When has Indy ever been about gore and over the top violence? Yes, games should evolve and different interpretations are nice but changing the whole foundation and formula just to add unnecessary edge to a character for shock value doesn’t add up. I grew up watching the original trilogy and seeing the last crusade in theaters and the scope of the game reminds me of it. Sometimes it’s okay for a video game to be just that; a video game. It’s fine for a studio known for a particular style of game to venture out and try something new because it’s break up the monotony of doing the same ol thing. Relax and let’s just see what comes of these games. What a tragedy and loss? Dude, get over yourself and maybe, just maybe they wanted to make this and excited to do so.
