I need more Kojima in my life I love that he is just taking corporations money and making stuff that actually says something and is interesting. It doesn’t vibe with everyone and honestly more games should go down that route rather than trying to appeal to everyone.

Death Stranding lore, distilled into two sentences: A kind act by the Extinction Entity unintentionally created a fundamental upset in the balance between life and death, called Death Stranding. Sam, a porter, must make deliveries and connect disparate survivors living across a desolate America so that humanity may try and prevent their extinction. That's the best i can do lol. The game's lore DOES make sense, but there is a LOT of it.

I have never played Death Stranding, but now I'm really interested in the story, characters, and universe. I wrote it off before because it did initially look like a walking simulator, but everything from DS2 just looks weird and crazy in a good way and I want to try the first game anyway, so I got he Director's Cut on PC

Listen the game is a walking simulator about 80% of the time (mind you unlock vehicles and stuff but you are still just making deliveries). But the first voidout cutscene sold me on the game originally and I played it and found that the simplistic walking simulator game was in its own way fun. It introduces obstacles and ways to get over or around those obstacles a way that kept the game entertaining for me. I love the game, but if you are dead-set against a walking simulator then you probably will not make it through the first act of DS1, and that is okay.

  • @NateArchibaldWithTheFro

That was what I thought when I played the first one. If you think you won’t like it, then you probably won’t. I forced myself to finish it and all the exposition in the world couldn’t make the story any better. It’s nonsense that pretends to be high art. If you’re into Kojima’s previous work then more power to you, but his style just isn’t for me.

  • @KabbalahSherry

My whole thing w/these "walking simulator" complaints is that nobody says that sh*t about ANY other game, where you have to walk & explore on the map ffs. 🤦🏻‍♀️🥴 lol You gotta do it in Horizon Zero Dawn, Breath of the Wild, etc. Yeah you eventually get cool ways of traversing the terrain in those games, but guess what? It's the EXACT SAME w/Death Stranding. Nobody has to walk EVERYWHERE in that f*cking game, come on. You're given a vehicle before you even leave the "tutorial phase" of things! And you just KEEP unlocking cool & interesting vehicles all throughout. In the Director's Cut, you can even get 2 different models of racing roadsters. Not to mention there being Ziplines that can quickly take you all around the map, as well as a method of Fast Travel too. It's honestly great. I just wish that folks would simply admit that the game doesn't interest them or isn't for them... rather than howling at the moon about it being "shit", and telling everybody misinformation about it all of the time. After almost 5yrs of this kind of crap... it's honestly become insufferable at this point.

"When will the audience would finally go "this is ridiculous!" in regards to all of this?" (c) Way too late for that, since that very point was reached (and firmly stepped over) in Policenauts, which was a point of the "auteur" showing first signs of actual insanity. Ever since then, the so-called "audience" been only fueling up Kojimbo's schizophrenia further, instead of institutionalizing him and trying to treat him.

Every single PS exclusive game since 10 years ago has felt like SEGA, 1990's... I hope not, but they seem destined for a comeupance. I'm not saying xbox is anywhere near better. M'f's damn near selling ass to get bandwidth for the upload. I 100% am an american gamer. I have had zero interest outside of spiderman recently for sony. Even that isn't enough to get me to buy the PS5. If my son wasn't such a hardcore halo fan, I never would have bought an xbox series x/s. I was a ps4 fan and an xbox one fan, but I've yet to see the point in buying either of these m'f's consoles when I pay less on our two PC's for games. Not sure if this fits into any narrative of the video, just had a thought and started typing... High Five!
