I hope the main crew can still talk about this on the next episode. I appreciate the whole KF Team, so this is in no way meant as disrespect to everyone else, but I follow the Xcast specifically because I'm invested in perspectives of Mike, Gary, and Parris. I'd personally rather wait to hear a retrospective analysis of the showcase with them, than rush out an initial reactions video with whoever happens to be available as soon as the showcase is over. Especially since you guys just did a live reactions video anyway.

Mike nailed it at the end of this. Showcasing what he’s excited for and what he expects from Xbox is always hype and he’s got a great perspective!

I thought Avowed looked great 🤷‍♂️

Indiana Jones looks really great! I'm dying to play Hellblade 2 as I think the first game was the best cinematic experience I've ever had in gaming. Avowed looks great to me. I don't know what people are complaining about with the graphics. Even Ara is really becoming interesting to me.

SPOILER: at the end of this episode sparks start flying out of Blessing's neck, then one of his eyes pops out revealing a bunch of wires behind it. The signs have always been there guys. Remember when everyone was asked what their favorite food was and blessing said "electricity"? 'Cuz I don't, but I feel like that _probably_ happened. He doesn't take one sip of that drink this entire episode cuz he knows it would short him out (probably, I'm more of a _listener_ than a watcher).

I watched Indiana Jones all the time with my dad as a kid, very excited for this game!

I'm so impressed with Avowed. It's gonna be so much fun. Art style is just stunning, I'm just stocked seeing it. That what makes it unique and stand out from other so called dark and realistic RPGs which are very competitive in the market right now. All I wanted to see from Avowed is more gameplay and RPG aspects of it, but I get it as developer direct was short and there were other 4 games still had show, so that's fair. But Avowed actually needs its own showcase (20 minutes plus). Hope Obsidian does this.

Like how Blessing shows up whenever Persona games are near

HellBlade's combat was to serve the character/narrative, Ninja Theory did Heavenly Sword and the DmC reboot, they know how to do combat, they just don't want people walking away from HellBlade thinking about its combat for obvious reasons.

Exactly! I really don't understand where this want for a deep combat system came from. None of the devs ever mentioned that they wanted to drastically change the combat system from the first game. Hellblade was about experiencing something like mental psychosis through Senua and about the narrative. But, the digital-only release is a bummer.

Remember, Avowed is in the Pillars of Eternity universe. I feel like not many people realize that. Those games are dope RPGs

All 4 of the Xbox first party games we're incredible looking. I can't even believe they are all coming out this year.

So pumped for Hellblade 2. Never would’ve played the first if it wasn’t on gamepass and it blew me away. Also, excited for the Mana game. Never played those but it looks fun.

You need to watch all the trailers back in 4k, Avowed looks way better than before.

Mike and I could not be more the same when it comes to RTS games. Overall I'd say the Direct was big success. Fun to watch, good idea or what to expect with these games. Xbox looks like it'll have a good year. Great episode guys.

I love seeing everyone positive on this. It shows that yall are actually excited about GAMES regardless of platform. I know not every game is for everyone and the expectations for some games need to be adjusted but good on yall. I thought this was a great show. The games looked great and this format gets me to care about the devs, when normally I don't. Perfect pacing. No cheesy joke transitions like in Nintendo Directs haha. And seeing Square and Xbox getting along brings a tear to my eye. That man with the leather jacket must've bought that with the microsoft bag of $

when it comes to globetrotting & fighting nazis, i think MachineGames (Wolfenstein) & Rebellion Games (Sniper Elite) are the two devs i'd go to for an Indy game tbh. they know the genre, the time periods, and the equipment better than most. This will be fun while i wait for the next main-line Wolfenstein, and i'd also love for Rebellion to be allowed to make their own take on Indy in 3rd-person so we have the best of both worlds from the two different studios.

In my opinion the pacing, the timing, the transitioning, the music placement and the tone of the whole presentation was perfect. I never grew tired or bored with anything shown or any dev speaking which were very interesting and full of passion. The event is a 10/10 without exaggeration and a great way to start 2024. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Pat on the back to Xbox for putting their money where their mouth is. They are funding these studios they acquired to continue to do what they do best. Ninja Theory doubling down on length, price, and commitment to immersion is exactly what gamers want from them and I'm stoked Xbox isn't forcing them to be something they're not. Same can be said for Machinegames and Obsidian. I've said it before in comments and I'll say it again: I'm new to the Xbox ecosystem (or returning since OG Xbox really) I'm excited to be able to play these games soon.

Should've committed fully though without the switches, Mirror's Edge shows it works great and RoboCop shows you don't need to see an iconic character during gameplay when you see them during cutscenes, and Indy's cutscenes are way better than RoboCop's. They can even attempt seamless transitions into and out of cutscenes/perspectives.

Avowed looks bland man. The environments are totally dead looking compared to modern game environments. Just seems off somehow. Cyberpunk and Baldurs Gate 3 have made it hard to look at these games the same way I used to.

Mike was on to something with Machine Games making a Mummy game. That would be hype!

Wow Tim and Blessing are so mean about the name The Great Circle. It's perfect! It fits with the film names and has an air of mystery about it! The word circle can mean a lot of things.

Indiana looks cool but pulling back into 3rd person a lot feels weird. I really wish it was just third person, with amazing animations. Punching guys in the face looks janky lol but I get it. Gotta stand out from uncharted( that's a funny sentence given Nathan drakes inspiration is INDY) it does look like a lot of fun. looks to be a great and unique game in the space. Happy to see it. However nostalgia is blinding people because it don't look better than hell blade

I don’t think the name matches to the other movies haha. Definitely a dichotomy between @raiders of the lost ark” and “the great circle”. But hey, will still be known as the Indiana Jones game so won’t have any negative impact.

I don't get how everyone liked the Avowed combat. It looked dull. I wanted to like the game but that combat is just off-putting.

The presentation was amazingly well-paced and it was cool to see a lot of the devs and studios. I hope other studios take note. Couldn't care less about any of the games though lol.

Because the studio didn't want to make a 3rd Person game. The same reason no core Sony studio makes 1st Person games anymore. That's their comfort zone and the type of games they want to make.

Indiana Jones looks 2 generations old graphics wise. Avowed combat didn't have any impact in the attacks. Hopefully that gets tightened up.

Redfall blew. Starfield is load-screen mediocrity where ships have a very abbreviated purpose while planet-side becomes Groundhogs Day (till DLC expands variation & diminishes the redundancy generated as planetary locations). Hellblade 2 looks good, yet not enough Combat has been shown to get hyped. But yeah, it's definitely going to be a cinematic beauty...not for everyone. Avowed & Indiana Jones look pretty good. Nothing fresh or innovative, but fun gameplay (Indiana J) & mechanics (Avowed). Both have pretty stiff animations. Pretty good graphics. Clockwork Revolution & State of Decay 3 are the ones I'm personally looking forward to, & are the 2 that will truly spell out Xbox's trajectory in execution till the next-gen at least.

Anything Sweet Baby Inc has a hand on making will be great eh Greg. Keep shilling for DEI and ESG I'm sure that will never be a bad take.

I wouldn't have chosen Machine Games as my first choice to develop Indy. Just seems like a strange match like Avengers and Crystal Dynamics. And the constant switch in perspective seems like they didn't want to fully commit to one. I'm kinda disappointed but leave to Kinda Funny to be excited for everything and Mike to be overly excited and positive about it lol. It's a wait and see for sure.

I highly recommend you play Wolfenstein New Order and New Colossus. Quite literally two of the best FPS narrative games ever made.

Jeff Grubb is super wrong. Indiana must be third person, no matter the previous history of the studio. It's irrelevant.
