Well now. Isn't that fascinating. I was afraid this show would be dumbed down for the younger audience, but once again, Marvel and Disney pull a fast one and make the dialogue just as good, if not better than most of the stuff the MCU has been making. And I mean that to say that listening to Gyrich's rant made me more afraid of him than a thousand Thanos. Oh, and I have to call out the very effective foreboding tool that was used to show the disastrous effects of Jean using Cerebro when she is pregnant. Yes, she tapped into the memories of Gyrich, but she also unintentionally bridged her mind with her unborn son's. Which means one of two things: 1.) Her son is a telepath just like her and is perhaps just as powerful or more powerful than her, or 2.) The writers intentionally decided to throw in a bit of Conservative logic in the mix and stated a child at this stage of the pregnancy is fully conscious and aware of everything happening around them, even having the ability to use telepathic abilities before they've even had the chance to take their first breath. Either way, this just got extremely interesting.

Magneto is the direct result of that kind of bigotry. On top of being a victim of the Holocaust which killed his birth family, he's had to endure decades of seeing innocent mutants be harmed and killed for something they didn't do. He tried to reason with humanity and tried to follow Xavier's vision of equality. But eventually, that patience ran out and he was left with no choice but to fight. Does he go too far often? Yes. But he has legitimate reasons for his actions.

@@attiepollard7847 Let me ask you a question that parallels to real life. When 9/11 happened, did you ever feel like, even for a moment, that all Muslims were bad people? Or, if you aren't a US citizen, did you think all US citizens were bad because of Iraq and Afghanistan? Or what is your opinion on the Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Its no secret that the Japanese were the bad guys of WW2 considering what they did to the Chinese and Polynesian peoples during the war? But do you think the bombings shouldn't of happened since it resulted in massive civilian casualties? Because I've heard of Chinese people who were victims of brutal Japanese occupation and, when they learned of the bombs, they called it divine justice. Like I said, Magneto goes too far but I can't blame him. All he wants is for mutants to be treated as equals to humans. For mutants to be safe on Geonosha and he really was trying to move on from his old ways. But after witnessing the massacre, which gave him massive PTSD from the Holocaust, he snapped. Would you be sound of mind when your home just got blown up and you saw countless people, your people, brutally massacred because they were 'the wrong race' according to bigots?

Could you explain why?
@Regenmacher175

Why exactly? It's what hateful bigots have been thinking since the beginning of time. Nothing spectacular about it showing up in a show about the X-Men, since X-Men has always been about stories that oppose discrimination and bigotry.
@SrChr778

A more accurate description is that's what hatemongering looks like. Blind prejudice makes you look criminally insane. In Gyrich's case, it really does.

Gyrich is one no one should ever mess with, a human with a sharp mind that can stare you to death with all fear and torment, even to minds. Badass heroes got badass villains! I love this show already!

I'm not certain, but wasn't there a story where Master Mold somehow got its hands on Xavier's mutant abilities? Wonder if that's going to come into play later down the line.

Since it was already adapted in season 1, I think this show might being building up to an adaptation of "Zero Tolerace" in which the plot has the villain Bastion turns the goverment against the X-men and begin to hunt them down with his Prime Sentinels, humans who were turned into Sentinels through nano technology, which fits with what villains like Gyrich and the Friends of Humanity have been saying, that they are seeking to evolve humanity.

I genuinely love the deeper point here. That Gyrich simply can't fathom the idea of cohabilitation. He is a human nationalist with the exact same arguments as those who say immigration will cause white extinction or gay/trans people will cause the extinction of masculinity. Genuinely good writing, I was surprised when i heard this for the first time.

gyrich is serving a 25 year sentence, if he gave up information cyclops would have gotten his sentence reduced to 10 years
Gyrich is voiced by freaking Todd Haberkorn.

I don't ever remember Gyrich being like this, except for the X-Men cartoon. Yes, he was an asshole, but not THIS MUCH. Remember, he was the one who forced Falcon into the Avengers for DIVERSITY purposes long before it became the "current thing".

The cartoon had a number of interchangeable bigoted anti-mutant leaders like Graydon Creed and Cameron Hodge, but Gyrich is responsible for funding the Sentinels and shot Charles Xavier. He's probably the most of effective and terrifying of them.
In my fan fox story, this is exactly the type of writing I am doing for cyclops: playing mind games (I’m not talking about telepathy).

We humans have every right to hate mutants. As long as you have mutants like Mr sinister and magneto out there who have a God complex then we human beings have every right to defend ourselves.
@TimberlakeTigerGirl
