Woman Goes CRAZY when Store Clerk Refuses $100 Bill

On April 28, 2023 in Florida, officers responded to a Circle K in reference to a disturbance. It was reported that a female subject had entered the store and attempted to purchase gas, coffee, and lottery tickets with a $100 bill. The clerk did not have change to break the $100, which led to an altercation between the clerk and woman. When officers arrived, they found the woman and clerk outside the store arguing. This is body cam footage of the events that followed.
Footage on Body Cam Watch is for educational purposes only. All information has been supplied by local law enforcement agencies and is considered by law to be public information. The subjects in these videos are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Body-worn camera footage has been edited for length and in accordance with KZread community guidelines while maintaining a journalistic focus.

@peacepipenetwork No crime was committed? Re-watch the first part of the video, she ended up outside *with* the stuff she was going to buy but didn't pay for. At least there were the scratch-offs, a donut, and some coffee she sat on the trash can that I assume are the merchandise she was planning to buy. She was pissed that they couldn't accept her money so she was set on getting the stuff for free. She made it sound like they were blocking the doors after she had left everything on the counter, but it seems pretty clear since the stuff ended up outside in her possession that she was trying to leave without paying. She basically admits to as much, but excusing it by saying when the clerk put the tickets back on the counter and told her they couldn't break her $100 that she though they meant for her to take it. Sounds like they quickly clarified the situation and tried to grab the stuff she was picking up off the counter when the clerk 'slapped her hand and spilled the coffee all over her and the counter'. If no crime was committed, it was only because they blocked the door to prevent her from leaving with the stolen goods, but I've seen enough shoplifting videos to know that at least in some jurisdictions the intent to leave is all that is required and you don't have to wait for them to leave the property. I wonder what happened exactly when the first cops got there that we don't see. My guess is she was trying to push past the cashiers to get out while holding the "loot" when the cops arrived, so they brought her outside with it to talk to her and she sat it down on that trash can, including the scratch-offs, the coffee (which spilled all over?) and a donut...

Eww! This reminds me of the customers I had to deal with when I worked in retail. I was a store manager at dollar general & it was the worst 7 years of my life. People threw things at me when I wouldn't have change, ran out with carts full of merchandise, called me mean names & threatened my life. I once had this junkie go into the bathroom after I wouldn't sell her cigarettes (she didn't have an ID), and smeared her poop all over the wall. I had someone slash my tires after I caught him shoplifting. I had a lady go off on me after I told her I didn't have change in my drawer for $100 bill cause I had just opened the store. I told her she'd have to wait 10 mins for the safe but she said nope she didn't have time for that & walked out with the merchandise without paying. After 7 years, one day I woke up & was really struggling to get ready for work & I realized I had been dreading work everyday for years. I worked outside my city, about 30 miles, I was halfway to work when I turned around & went home. I called my district manager & told her I wasn't going back so she needed to send someone to open the store. 2 of my employees quit that same day & 2 more employees quit a few days later. We were all exhausted , that was a bad location & on top of crappy customers, the hours I was given to distribute to my 7 employee wasn't enough. So I was alone every morning for hours. I was doing 65-70 hour weeks. I'm so glad I got out of retail, rude people made an already hard job, twice as hard.

I understand that. I'm a keyholder, and there are often days where I get those kind of customers. Either they would complain about a sale, or get frustrated that I couldn't sell them beer (mainly because their IDs expired). We had this one guy come in and go to explain to us that it's against federal law to refuse a $100 and that his stuff would be free. While I might not full know the struggles of opening a store (having only done it twice in my time), and any other frustrations that come with the SM job, I can understand how customers can be rude

I ran out of gas around midnight walked to a gas station and begged for $5 in gas and I would leave them with a $100 bill until I could go to the atm machine a couple miles away and come back and pay them. @@thedragonsfoot4565 I couldn't agree more. I'm a machinist by trade and have been most of my life. However, when I was around 30 the industrial economy in my area dropped out and their weren't any factory/manufacturing jobs for a time so I took a job at a hardware store because I'd been familiar with nuts and bolts as well as industrial painting. What I didn't realize at first and had never exposed to was "the public" and "customer service". I was horrified, shocked, suprised and stunned at least but not limited to 5 times in a single shift due to just how entitled, rude, aggresive and ignorant "the public" can and will always be when talking to or treating someone they know can't tell them to go fk themselves or walk away because it's their job to "help" you. Unsurprisingly, "Help" can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people and I can't even count the number of times customers would get outraged when they realized that I wasn't going to come to their house and install or fix whatever they'd just purchased or the problem they were trying to correct if they offered me $5 to $10 bucks under the table so to speak (plumbing/electrical/paint/etc.) and I'm being dead serious. "Customers" would actually spray paint the floor/racks in the aisle to "test" which color they liked best and these were grown adults 😐. I've seen old people you'd never suspect of doing anything wrong, steal petty items just to do it and I've also seen wealthy people absolutely lose their minds over a price difference less than $5. I was there a little over a year until I got back to a machine that can't shout at me for the "grass seed I bought from you isn't growing" and I feel 1 year minimum and mandatory customer service jobs would really curve a lot of those issues. Ever since that job/experience, I try to be as nice as possible to people in those positions.

@@kevinhabener1279 I completely understand. I worked there for 18 years. Had to leave for health reasons. The saying “I was a people person until people ruined it.” Is 100% accurate. Our store was the closest thing to a truck stop in town. We were located on the highway and just a couple miles from a dry reservation and the city is home to a very large tourist attracting lake. We were always busy. We also filled propane tanks, had a check cashing/money order making area and made fishing licenses for both AZ and UT (the lake was in both states). Of course since we offered all these other services in addition it also had the opportunity for more potential problems. Fraudulent checks, stolen money orders, people driving off after getting propane filled without paying, getting slammed last minute with huge groups of people wanting fishing licenses right before closing ect. You really see an ugly side of people when you work in public service. I had a guy throw a bag of peanuts at me because he was pissed at the cost and couldn’t understand that when the deal was 2 for 1$ but you only got 1 bag it wasn’t .50 cents but .59 cents because it therefore wasn’t part of the deal (I mean Planters printed it on the bag themselves for crying out loud). Seriously, throwing something at a cashier over 9 cents. 🤦‍♀️🙄
