Ойын-сауық

A Pursuit Perfect System Exclusive Video for the hi-fi Show Live 2018
In this video I am in one of the Absolute Sounds rooms, in this room they are demonstrating the new Wilson Audio Sasha DAW speakers with the new Audio Research Reference 160M Monoblocks and Pre a full dCS Rossini stack with Transparent Cabling
This is very nearly the full presentation, I had to cut the Boris Blank song due to You Tube Copyright blocking the song
Factor in the microphones for the recordings are right at the back of the room about 6 feet in the with the long camera view - far from optimal recording position

Hi Ash 100% yes I am. These more complex videos using multiple camera angles take a lot longer to make. Its taking me longer to get them on here - the Magico video should be even better than this one

What you hear is the microphone and setup used for recording , not the speakers ! The sound is colored and I hear resonance. I bet these speakers sound wáy better "live".

the microphones are about 30 feet away so your hearing all the room echoes and more. It was incredible in person. In practice the microphones have a flat frequency response and very low noise, the recorder also have very low noise - so essentially you as close to the real thing as a recording can be within reason Hifi is all listening to recordings so we cant be too critical of the methods otherwise we would have no hobby.

@Harry Fishnuts No ! What I hear is the wma input of my Asio mixer sending true an EMU 1212M @ 96/24 converted to analog sending via the pre-amp of an Soundcraft spirit mixer into a Sennheiser HD 25 II headphone.

the microphones are right at the back of the room about 30 feet and about 6 feet in the air. That is the nature of these demos which tailor for about 40 people at a time and I have to work around it. Its a terrible Mic spot The system sounded amazing in the flesh

Why does Wilson use paper pulp drivers? Isn't paper diaphragms flexible, not rigid and subject to moisture intrusion?

I've wondered about that too. In this day and age why not go with carbon fibre or something similarly stiff and light and non-absorptive.

  • @hidjedewitje

@@00bikeboy They use paper for their acoustic properties. I can imagine that paper is less stiff (which lowers resonance) and increases damping

if they were positioned to fire straight down the room, the people sitting in the middle of the room would hear a very disjointed stereo image, most (not all) speakers need some toeing in to form a triangle in front of the listening position, I would say for a room of this size they have been positioned perfectly.
