Will trams perform better than carriages? Transport Fever 2 Mainline part 3
Ойындар
Trams have a higher capacity and they travel faster than coaches, so they should make more money right? They come with a higher running and purchase cost too, but that's unlikely to be a problem. This is part 3 in the new Transport Fever 2 Mainline series.

Behold! While some may describe this section of the video as the link graveyard, I offer you treasures, delights and mischief. This section of the description rarely changes, except when it does (*).
Okay, that's a total lie, it's a link graveyard. It is however delivered with the kind of panache you have come to expect.
Why is any of this interesting? Because I try to make the nonsense that occurs behind each of these links worth your while. You can trust me. No reason is offered why you can trust me, just know that you can.
Let's do the commercial gubbins first. Anything you procure from the below will help out the channel, although I might spend some of the kickbacks I get on "projects". If any of these projects see the light of day, you'll be the first to know.

Let us move on from tales of commerce to things more fun-loving.

Not in the kind of way that offers life-affirming, inspirational text with a waterfall in the background, but in a jolly, acerbic kind of way? Follow me on Twitter. That's what I do. I almost never shill my latest video entertainment. / cnlfailure
Do you want to know what videos are coming up each week? A few people do. I don't always get around to publishing the schedule, but when I do, I do it on Facebook. Not sure why I chose Facebook, but there you are. / cnlfailure
Okay, you've made it. You clicked at least two links, now get your reward.
(*) - Today's secret: Spoiler: yeah, once they're bedded in, trams make solid wedge. You knew that already, I'm just letting you know.

What are trams, if not tiny trains?
Truck Dan to truck driver Merdel, "Great now how many days do we have to wait to deliver this stuff to the steel mill?" Merdel, "Some blasted Colonel blew up the bridge and then just walked away for a few days!" Dan, "He is going to rebuild it right?... Right?"
Just love the split personality going on there, arguing with himself XD
Bins a'plenty, but no benches. Sic transit gloria mundi!
17:40 "... we could ship food out of Atlantis." ... "Might be a bit damp." Glad I wasn't drinking anything or I would have done a spittake!
"He's gonna place it the wrong side of that bridge isn't he?!"......... ....."Noooo, he'll realise before he clicks" ( places it exactly where he shouldn't) ....."Wellllll that was predictable. It's not like your new watching him".
Rapture wants fuel, so in my playalong I did crude oil from a well near Raccoon City, up along the river to the oil refinery by Utopia, down again to the oil well (full one way, half full back), then from there a second line back up to the fuel refinery (full both ways until Rapture is saturated) and down to the Rapture area again, and then actually delivering the fuel to Rapture. A bit cheesy with the up-down-up-down tactic, but you could say it made a few bucks. Proper train for the first line to the oil refinery, a tiny cheap train (D 1/3 with 2 cars) for the fuel line initially, just to enable the flow of cargo (and a truck delivery line to Rapture as soon as the first oil reaches the fuel refinery, so it'll actually send it back). Maxing the loan, no problems double tracking the whole stretch and buying a decent train to get the initial oil going. Re-invest profits to snowball from there until the full 400 units per year of crude oil are being sent to the oil refinery, and upgrade the fuel train as required. It's okay if cargo gets backed up on the stations a bit. The important thing is you have cargo to move, but try to keep the trains in sync with the actual cargo flow. Even if you don't go with the cheesy tactic, trains full of crude oil one way and some fuel back for Rapture (with refined oil to fuel intermediate step in the non-cheesy way), should also make a pretty penny. Although in that case, you could consider using the oil refinery next to Rapture instead, and only take the refined oil the longer distance up to the fuel refinery. ~30 minute round-trip time is a great distance for payment size vs. frequency of payments. Mainline is expensive? Better get earning!
Shaping up to be a very enjoyable series, this. Have had several good laughs allready too...
Lol, evil Colonel leaving us on a cliffhanger 🤣🤣👹👹
You fell right into your own trap. Nicely done. I guess it's one way to create a good story: be your own antagonist.
You deserve 10 thumbs ups for that cockup with the shipyard 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍. I had the laugh of the day 🤣
Just in time for tea, cheers
I admit i haven’t watched the episode yet, no time on my lunch break, but Pink Trams are the way to go.
Sometimes I forget that the dear colonel is not in fact two people arguing with each other while recording a lets play
Note to Colonel upon your vacation return: Flatbeds don’t carry food. HILY Road Food Delivery line
Mate, I literally laughed out loud - on a train - twice - watching this. Hilarious context dude.
I started the map shortly after your first video... and yes, it is GREAT. There is certainly a lot to look forward to, and at the same time I am watching your progress. Surprisingly, we are running about the same, with most all the same locations! Thanks Colonel!

I made Port Miggins the Big Apple, with Passenger Ships to Bangolia, Trams to Grazer ridge. Food from Atlantis to Bangolia vs Ship. Its a fun Map.
The peninsula looks like the shape of Sweden.
So many great and entertaining things were said in this episode that makes it really great and entertaining in the way that it usually does entertain in a great way. Keep up the great videos and commentary!
I believe I detect Scylla and Carbides clearing their throats once more.
Trams have a secret weapon: LOW EMISSION!
oh my God! the ship is afloat! the tram is around! what other wonders of technology has Colonel in store?
Nice cliff hanger! I was bashing my head on the keyboard in frustration throughout the episode. 10/10, would Failure again.
Thanks for this series
I just found this channel. Recently bought this game on sale on Steam and looking for a bit of a tutorial. I scratch my head often at CF's decisions.....but I can't stop watching cuz he's entertaining as all getup! I'm just cracking up over here. Yeah - the shipping idea wasn't well thought out to the end, me thinks. Hope it turns itself around.

Welcome to the Fan Club
And this is when Colonel failure went full polution.
Was playing last night using trams, was the first time iner city transport has been profitable for me in the very early game.
For that coal supply route i might've made a new coastal road between the coal and steel so it would be a shorter journey, especially at this early stage.
@Jake-qz5uf

I was thinking the same thing
COLONEL!!!!!! You would make money faster if you check your flatbed wagons, as the cannot transport bread
I want more "serious wegde to be had", so get on it !
Trams are good. No cliffs near the water... so It's a bridge-hanger. 😁
23:15 Missed a trick there should have done both Iron and Coal on one route and named it PORM Supply!!
A steam tram? So it's Toby? I like Toby.
....followed by a six hour three part series on building the "easy new bridge"........
How many Episodes in until he realizes the flatbed wagons don't haul food?
Do we still have the wrong wagons on the food run from episode 1? I sure hope so!

change river to "pond" and you have your 4 chars
Boats! They make everything better!
Cliff hanger 👍🏻
1:44 but... but... that WAS the good b _[SHADOW_BANNED]_ 22:50 "PORM"!!!!!!!! That's strangely fitting with the last redacted 4-letter accident we had... Strange that. _[MORE_BANNED]_ _Thats it i've had enough of this malarkey, off with yer head! -Failure_
"It's my life now" 😅
If he changed the wagons he could prob turn a profit
Deserves 👍👍
If you have a refinery by the river then you could hook up with the oil well by City 17. Also, Boat is 4 letters

Is it at all possible the river’s name is Kwai?

all this one needs is a plane, and maybe a space ship... and we are complete.

The French are working on hot air balloons at present, CF might ask Mrs Migans to inquire next time she has to seek refuge with her cousin.
oh cripes!! a hanger of the cliffs?!?!?!?
Having just recently visited Sheffield for the first time in quite a few years I can honestly say tramlines running down the centre of the roads absolutely sucks, it’s like driving in a plowed field a horse and cart wouldn’t stand a chance
SHIPS? You said we were going to do a Train. Right… didn’t you notice the Trams I gave you.? Yes… but? ☹️ Bridge! 😆
Have to restart, I got carried away an am poor. Back to the drawing board
I did everything different than you. I minimized carts, focused on trains, run them dry on the way back. Carts are only used to run goods from a cargo station to a city center. It's 1877 I have 75 million dollars.
@MYPSYAI
2 жыл бұрын
Carts cost 400 and only really generate about 4000. My trains cost 20000 and generate 120,000. I pay for the cart 4-5 times before it makes a delivery. I pay the train once. From my experience the cart is like treading water but the train is making like 100k every six seconds
The one where infrastructure is built before the map is created.
15:35 Ye Firste Deathe at the wheel!
you need car ferry in this game
wasn't there a town pretty much on the coast on the other side of the river from the steel mill that the Colonel keeps overlooking? 🤔

It's not a cliffhanger if you can watch the next one directly after because you already posted it by the time I watched it. Hah, cheated! 😁

It won't help right now. Food production caps out pretty quickly which may lead to shipping routes running part empty.

As he records several episodes in advance he can't make any changes, this is why he is still running the flat beds that can't transport food.
Bridge episode after all
Wasn't the shipyard destroyed before Picard?
Ha ha ha ha. You know that your true calling is in government planning?
Why are your intro's so laughable? Is it because of comedy or..? Either way, a good intro, and a funny one at that makes a great video, keep it up!
