This bike was obviously layed down, hence the broken control bolts and brake lever. Some people wreck and never sit on a bike again. Hadn't been touched since it was simply wrecked... SMH!
Nice and gently brought back to life, changed oils, oil down bores etc. Too many people start sleepy engines by screaming the tits off of them with old oil etc, nicely done there, respect for that.

I like to add Seafoam additive to the gas and oil to something that sat for a while. Ride it for 50 miles and change the oil again. You might be surprised at what comes out. I did that plus new plugs, air and oil filters on a 96 1200 Sporty and damn! Thing pulls! I love it.

I don't even understand how someone lets a bike that isn't even old or fucked up in that situation. On its side, in tall gross wet grass. That seems insane to me. Why couldn't he just leave it on the kickstand in the driveway? I mean, his bike, he can do whatever he wants, it just doesn't make sense to me haha. Also, when changing oil, I always fill the fiter with fresh oil too so its not dry upon first start up. You may have done it, I just didn't hear you say it when you lubed the seal. I am pumped you are bringing it back to life! One more thing, I am assuming someone stole the mufflers when they took the mid controls. Sometimes the pipes have to be removed to get at the controls so it would make sense!

great find, great job bringing it back. some advice from someone who's been bringing back old Harleys from Shitsville for 50 years! flush the shit out of everything on that bike, start with wheels, bearings, seals, etc: etc:, forks same, gearbox-trans flush, primary flush, and adjust. remove plugs fill cylinders with kreep, turn over slowly, flush engine with diesel or kero fuel, then run 15-40wt. diesel oil, gas tank flush, fill, use seafoam, spray the shit out of carb = injectors check jets and float, change, brake fluid, and lines, rebuild master cylinders than ride the fucker cross country. when you get back buy a new one.

I have always subscribed to the thought tgat a good bike is one where every part can be individually repaired or replaced. Peter Egan expounded upon this in his "Leanings" articles. The Sporty is just one example. It's worth the price of admission after you 'snick' it into gear after a rebuild.

That’s an evo for you… treated like dirt (literally it was if you think about it) pun intended… and was tipped up and started fairly easy. The brand speaks for itself. I pulled an 84 shovel head out of a barn in 2020 to restore as a “lockdown pandemic project”. It was there for 24 years… new carb, fresh fluids, plugs and wires, gas and a battery and it started within 10 seconds of cranking. It was mind blowing. They are tough bikes whether people want to admit it or not. 24 years in the grave and that old bike took me to the store and back after three hours of wrenching.

It did Legally belong to someone and he gave it to me and now it legally belongs to me! Also ran the Vin through 3 sources and it was all clear!

@@UncleMike1776 Did dude give you the title? I know a guy that got a Sporty the same way. He never had a title. PoPo stopped him, checked the VIN. Dude he got it from had moved. Free Sporty cost him a sentence of 5 years and he served almost 3. Bike wasn't reported stolen, he just couldn't prove it was his.

@@bobberguy1 I have the title (in my name) bill of sale ,given as gift (me as recipient) and registration (in my name) I crossed my T’s and dotted my I’s. It’s not worth getting in hot water with the police potentially ending by up in jail!

That's f***ing funny. It's a Harley Davidson, it doesn't matter if it stands for years or a few hours. The challange is the same. Hahaha.

I think you will find this guy owns the bike. What clown is going to leave a 1200cc Harley rusting outside. I hope you all see how easy it was to clean after all those days left outside.

Believe what you will, I wasn’t from that town or even that state I went there for work from across the country, met the homeowner through work and he told me his buddy left that bike outside been there for years.. this couldn’t be more of a real video… I wish I would have taken pictures of it laying on its side and me moving and the debris to get the bike out of the yard but I didn’t know better… best luck to yah, negativity and hatred does nothing for you but make you sour and miserable! Enjoy more videos and thanks for the view!
