👉 Most people who manage a team are looked at as either a caring leader or one who leads by accountability. The reality is, the best leaders show both of these styles.
Showing care for your team and holding them accountable is not mutually exclusive of one another.
🔑 Your job as a leader is to teach, guide, educate, support and lead your team. Both care and accountability are needed.
4 tips to do this 👇
🔸 Don't take the safe or easy approach; sometimes the hard way is the best.
🔸 Focus on decision making - Mistakes are made in different ways. Bad luck, lack of focus, not addressing details, a change that nobody saw coming. Help your team with support and accountability if need be, depending on what actually caused the mistake.
🔸 Make sure as the leader you are giving clear expectations to the team. No guessing, the mission is clear.
🔸 Be candid and open with your team.
💡 Show your care by ensuring the team is accountable. Care is support and coaching.
Don't bury mistakes. You as a leader have to show ownership, have accountability and then hold the team members accountable as well.
Care and accountability are both needed to grow your team. Good leaders use both intertwined to develop and support their teams.
