NO is OK - FM Corner

🎥 | NO is ok. That is the subject Danny tackles today.
We all are busy in our jobs. If we weren't we wouldn't be in the roles we have with the responsibilities that are attached to the job.
However, when "I am busy" becomes the tag line, we are losing opportunities to learn, improve our product and develop relationships.
You can't do business with everyone, that is a fact. However, you can understand the vendors on the other end have a job to do just like you do. What harm is a short phone call or return of an email request? Maybe you don't have a need for their services today, but who knows what the future holds?
If you have solid performing partners right now, tell the people who are approaching you. Most will completely understand, and be appreciative of the fact you are loyal to current vendors.
"I spent most of my career in facilities, I tried to talk to all who requested it. But I wasn't afraid after listening to say no thanks if there was no need at that time. Set a time in future to let them follow up. Let's say 6 months. Now, if they call back in 2 weeks seeking update, then explain that is not the deal and no future calls will be set."
You never know what is out there if you don't communicate. How do you know that what you have is the best?
Saying NO is ok. Ghosting is completely different. Take a few minutes, someday that person might be you on the other side of the fence seeking a response.
