Another problem was that the pressure structure for united meant that in the second half when Enzo dropped into a back 3, he had time and space to pick passes to Cole Palmer across the midfield and or long balls to Cucurella on the overlap down the right. He could also choose to drive and easily break past the soft press by Mainoo and Bruno giving him even more space to pick the passes. It's a miracle that the Chelsea forwards suck at reading the play and getting themselves into runs, because every time Enzo got a pass off he put 4 or 6 players from United out of the picture and opened a chance for a cross or a shot. Honestly if it wheren't because the Chelsea's back line heads go when they concede and that Caicedo has that bozo gene in him, that could've been a massacre. As a neutral thoe I did enjoy the match, other points are that Ten Hags subs with the exception of Mount where not impactfull (Mount allowed for smoother play and holding the ball a bit more), meanwhile Poch's change allowed for the team to have more patterns of play up front and have better recovery on defense in case they lost the ball, they still couldn't score for the life of them and had to depend on a penalty and then a quick set play (Another thing United sucks at covering against) to score. Honestly I'll be interesting if Chelsea get at least one or two old heads there to keep the composure when the flow of the game turns on them and also get someone that takes risks to finish the play.

Wtf is Ten Hag doing with this midfield?? There have been MASSIVE problems with it literally since pre season. So much space, players not being closed down, free runners, etc. It happens constantly every single game. I back Ten Hag fully, and I am very Ten Hag in, but it genuinely seems like he lacks common sense? Why is he still doing the same thing that hasn’t been working since pre season? Even playing Casemiro as a lone 6? How many times has he played there and been the worst player on the pitch? Talking of Casemiro, why is he even starting at all? He is terrible, and has been all season. On and off the ball, he’s just awful. He constantly lets players walk past him, it’s embarrassing. Amrabat isn’t perfect, but he’s played about 20 mins of football in 2024. The only game he’s started was in the cup against Forest, where he was arguably MOTM, even tho he played out of position. What has Ten Hag got against this guy? There’s no way he can do any worse than Casemiro. At least he’d bring some energy and keep the ball, if nothing else. Once again, the substitutions just made no sense. At a point where we needed to control the game, he brought on Rashford and Mctominay?? And also kept on Bruno? What is he doing? I love Bruno, but he does NOT know how to slow the game down when necessary. Eriksen, Amrabat, Mount, and Amad were on the bench, but he brought on Rashy and Scott?? To control the game?? Again, I think Ten Hag is the right man for the job, but it honestly seems like a lack of common sense. He needs to sort this shit out.

The style ETH is trying to play works but not with this players. Look at the way Antony closes down same as Mount and see the difference with Rashford or even Casemiro. Close down with intents to win the ball not because the manager said so. Also take Casemiro out put A. Onana and see the difference in midfield also our defenders can’t go one on one. You need defenders that can go one on one. That’s why we are linked heavily to players like Fringpon not because the manager wants him defending but because the manager wants him to basically be the A. Davies of the team someone who could take the ball and go 40 yards that alone scares the crap out of any manager. We just need the right signings this season look at how good Disasi has been for Chelsea we were front to sign him and we bottled it

All I am saying is, "Irrespective of ETH, changing the manager is not the solution, it simply isn't". Please someone prove me wrong if I say, "Pep won't make a team playing Maguire, Evans, McTominay etc successful" OR "Klopp would be an idiot to expect our players to gegenpress". If the best 2 managers around can't do anything but bang their heads in front of these players, how is De Zerbi, Potter, Xavi, Tuchel, Nagelsmann, Inzaghi going to change things. I am a huge ETH supporter because I know, criticism is based on recent results but judgement on huge decisions is based on the entire tenure. To all who are ETH out, yes, he should leave BUT ONLY AND ONLY AFTER more than half of these players are replaced (same with majority of the backroom staff). I would feel really bad if ETH is sacked because of these players and I ll feel even more bad for the next manager coming in who has to deal with these same players and the same environment

Antony wasn't a wise signing but thats more due to money. He played very well against Chelsea. My only point is changing the manager isn't the option. It wasn't under Van Gaal, nor under Mourinho nor Ole. We have to stick with someone and ETH has shown all his capabilities in his 1st season. Let's say we manage to get Pep, do u think he would be willing to work with Maguire and Evans as CBs. He would first demand a huge clearout, get his own players and then compete for titles in 2yrs. ETH must be given time after we replace atleast 6-7 players this summer. If things dont get better 3 months into the new season, then take the decision. Bruno and Mount (now he's fit) should be rotating more and competing for the number 10 spot, now that Kobbie can play 8 and there's plenty of competition at left/right wing I see no reason why they should ever really be on the same field. With Inzaghi, he's a master tactician and just look at the way inter play. He created his own tactic and style of play with CBs and fullbacks sometimes higher than midfielders. Just watch them play, they all seem to know what's going on which suggests to me clear and concise leadership. Possession-based football with a twist. They're not interested in keeping possession in the final third, they keep position in their own half, make teams commit players forward and then transition which is absolutely perfect for our squad. And he does it all with relatively average players. It wouldn't be counter-attacking, park-the-bus football, it would be on-the-ball possession football but still playing to our strengths which is transitional and not conceding and its certainly not boring football. I could go into more detail but I think you get the point.
