Kobbie got under De Bruyne's skin. I thought I saw De Bruyne getting frustrated...but Mainoo did not back down. I love that kid.

*We played a system that suits our squad and players* . Our squad is suited to play Low or Mid-block, Compact defence, and Counter Attack. I'm 100% certain if Casemiro played that game even he would look great!!. Our squad is far away from playing proactive, high-press style football.
Pep was so bamboozled that his Plan B was to run at AWB 😂😂😂
I agree with you, I've never seen any player pocket De Brain & Rodri together, but if u watch most of the games since his return , he eats, chews & spits two very good midfielders at the same time. He did it to Liverpool , Newcastle imagine how dominant Guimaraes is. Unbelievable
I won't forget his full debut this season in the Premier League against Everton. All the emotion, energy and pressure surrounding the game from both a United and Everton perspective meant it was already risky bringing an experienced player coming from injury into the lineup, let alone an 18 year old in such a turbulent team. And he made it look easy in a position that most players only start playing in their mid twenties. I think that is the best Premier League debut I've seen.
still buzzing! cant wait for this one AJ, what a player Mainoo is!

@@AJAnalysis FourFourTwo says that KSD only had one pass the whole 2nd Half up till getting subbed off. Is this actually true?
That match made me realize that mainoo would be wasted in a static double pivot. I think he can play the Gundouan role at City where he has a free 8 role is involved in deep build-up play and in the attacking phase around the box as his composure and decision making in those areas reminded me of how Gundo played for city.

Yeah, I feel like this has been obvious to most Utd fans for a while. But fans of other clubs are still thinking he's a 6 for some reason. Im sure he could kill it as a 6 but he's a real box to box midfielder. His ability to drive with the ball in the middle is outstanding
I beg to disagree with your claim that Mainoo was the reason why the plan was executed, they all played their part of the plan. He did his part perfectly, just like Martinez, Dalot, Bissaka, Garnacho, even McTominay, you could even say Amrabat was the reason too, how about Captain fantastic?

I mean this is the same was ETH set up to try play against city in every other game, the only players missing for example from last years FA Cup is Mainoo and Amrabat, but whilst Amrabat did his job insanely Mainoo was the midfield engine that was literally end to end and connected all points of our team
This game showed the value of AWB, them guy has been over hated recently, great game from the whole squad.
I thought wan-Bisaka was the most important player on the pitch personally. It was a chess game everywhere else, the only space was deliberately left out wide. AWB was trusted to contain Doku in space, no mean feat... Martinez playing through the press, Fernandes dropping off as a false 9 between the lines and Garnacho in-behind Gvardiol. Tactically, it was perfect from ten Hag.
@CrossxFir3

No way. Awb was at best like the 5th most important player for Utd. He was very good, but honestly both the cbs were more important, and quite frankly Amrabat was too.
I love mainoo and he was absolutely fantastic but for me the best part of the match was martinez absolutely BODYING haaland anytime he was in the box. Martinez is the strength our team was missing this entire season

Having him and Varane was immense. Need a proper replacement for Varane if we don't want to suffer next season.
I love it when people say what is ten hag style first year was his style and most clean sheets 3rd and a cup 8th and fa cup final win was his style so people don't understand football that's on you rebuild take 3,5 years not 2 yrs take 5 of any top 4 teams back 4 and leave them with 1 cb and no lb and see were they come in the league we need to sign 2 cb 1 lb 1 lw 1 cm 1 st and sell 5,6 players then see what happens next season iv alway liked ten hag. im like marmite you eaver love or hate it i believe he can do what arteta as done and klopp and city but it take better players and time 🎉🎉🎉
Wanbisacka on Doku was lovely too ❤❤
I don't disagree but i think amrabat was key who actually allowed kobbie freedom to play
I think Man City's entire midfield was taken off their game because Mainoo was so dominant. They lost their cool.
Credit to mainoo for an excellent performance against city. Playing as an 8 is really his best position. His ball carrying ability and overall game play is class for his age. Next season though, I do hope we get to see mainoo play alongside dan gore, playing as a 10 and oyedele as a 6 at least once should they get game time and given the chance. The midfield trio for the future.
@willgimenez5188
24 күн бұрын
Keep dreaming. Oyedele can’t start for a team in league 1 and Dan gore needs a full season in the championship before consideration
AWB was underrated in that match.
I agree with everything you said with Mainoo’s defensive positioning. But I want to add one thing. It is beneficial when we have Martinez behind him as Martinez is sitting higher and being aggressive. This enables Mainoo to get tight to De Bruyne when he gets the ball outside of the defensive box.
Well done AJ 👏🏿 . What you think about Youssouf Fofana being Mainoo partner in the midfield?!

No, he needs someone who can pass as well to play off of. He looks miles better when he plays next to a player that makes themself available for him.
Amrabat can absorb pressure
Mainoo is such a good player. He has everything. Saying this, I do think Martinez and Amrabat were equally as important against City. They helped to give Mainoo the support he needed. I hope we buy Amrabat and give him a proper chance next season, and I hope that Martinez’ injury problems don’t continue as well. We also definitely need someone to rotate with Mainoo next season, as you said. He should not have started as many games as he has considering that it’s his first season as someone who just turned 19. I think Aleix Garcia might be the answer to that tbh, with a release clause less than £20m. Otherwise, Caqueret suits the role perfectly, but I think he might be a bit too expensive.
Amazing ❤
His midfield partners is going to be very crucial. Also varane’s replacement should be gotten already by now. I don’t see why todibbo has not been signed already. He’s coming from a sister club after all.

Window’s not open, for one lol. They may share some ownership and structure, but that doesn’t mean INEOS can just move players around as they might want to. Tordibo and his agent have to be on board.
I saw Amrabat drawing players towards him a few times as well. Usually ending in a pass back and then through the lines. It's a very basic tactic to create a numerical advantage, but it works wonders when the opposition is just a little too eager to win the ball.
Hope Malacia return soon. In the beginning he and Martinez where the two really understanding and executing ETH instructions. Now we have Mainoo and Amrabat and Onana willing and able to play the game.
Mainoo played fantastic but the difference was ambrabat and we had four midfielders in the team. Soft center resolved. Season gone and last game we have what was required since the first month of the season
Never seen u before but here's an idea mate. Take whatever framed shirt u have directly behind ur head and put it on the right of frame to fill that gap you have on ur wide shot on the introduction. Nobody is seeing that anyway. That would do for now but eventually if ur keeping this background probably get a bigger poster or something as it's a bigger space
what a player
Without Amrabat all of them would have struggled, he is the reason why the team isn't exposed to empty spaces for the opponents to feed on... Since he came into the team, there has been a clear direction of play... He's done it now in important games, first Arsenal, followed by Newcastle, then Brighton, and now Man City... it's a ni coincidence ... Give Amrabat is Flower
Please do a video on Amrabat
The fact that he managed to play on composed even with a booking on him is testament to his class
Fred did the same this on De Bruyne last season
Mainoo is Seedorf,he's Pogba,he's Scholes he's that d*mm good
Mainoo pocketed De Bruyne. We also did something important in that game, that we usually do not do enough, and that is making a free-kick whenever a player got past us to prevent overloads. It's cynical, and teams like City, Liverpool and Arsenal are masters at doing it without getting yellow cards. We did that to perfection this game. It needs to be a standard in our game.
I being crying & pulling my hear out for TenHag to play Sofyan Amrabat to the point I told my friends if he plays Casemiro we loose that that FA final Amrabat allows Mainoo to have slight less defensive work cause Casemiro would wear that kid down over & over.
Why are people always surprised when young people are confident?? Surely its the age when you are naturally more fearless and confident?
@lordarchon2572

Actually the opposite. Young people tend to get flustered more easily and the pressure of expectation also tends to get to them more. It's very rare to find young people who can keep cool calm and collected in high pressure situations.
Manoo was fantastic
It must be so intuitive for Kobbie, somethings I doubt can even be taught. Are there even players that we could buy that would be an improvement? I want Neves from Benfica but I doubt Ineos will pay.

I feel like they're too similar tbh.. I've said from the start of this season transition Martinez into a CDM, he just sits back and plays as a sweeper/3rd CB then we can sign somebody like Branthwaite for the LCB, he's big and great on the ball
@Doctor_Kroom
25 күн бұрын
@@dylanbishop4175Ten hag at Ajax said that Martinez doesn't have the stamina required to play CDM. That is why he transitioned him to defender. Also Martinez is one of the best ball playing centebacks in the world, why waste his talent when we can just buy a proper CDM? Andre trindade for 20 mill and Fofana for 25 mill.

should united try and sign chalobah?
AJ, does it not make more sense to have played like this most of the season, rather than trying to persist with a high press with an injured and slow back line all season? That's the one thing that gets on my nerves about ETH. He is slow to adapt and stubborn. He only got it right on the last day, but it could be too late.
Any side play city this is what they should do
Kobbie's footballing intelligence for such a young player is so impressive, but it was very much a team performance just about every player put in an 8+ performance whereas City's players were ALL under par
ten hag was building this whole season around kobbie mainoo and he got injured

maybe not having fdj was a blessing in disguise 😊
Could not have disagree with the narrative more than in this assessment of the game no one man won us this game. This has been our problem. We have always idolize an individual and expect an individual to take us to glory. Forget that we need to biuild a team and not an individual.
Full credit to Mainoo but let's not overdose on hype. He also hit a wall over the course of the season. He will take time to be consistently good. It was Martinez who made the difference in defense & Bruno who unlocked City's team in possession.
It's mainoo and martinezz
I'd say amrabat was more important
Mainoo is just ridiculous. How is he able to play like a seasoned veteran and make the right decision everytime when he's still a teenager? Experience can only come from years and years of playing the game. There are no shortcuts in training that can make you improve faster in that aspect. He must have the highest fottballing iq of all time.

Wan Bissaka MVP
please united take care of him
Sorry bro watch licha
He literally save united, nothing to do with the manager...
He has supreme confidence in himself and will back himself even after a mistake but what happens when life gets in the way? Family issues, financiak situations, etc and doubt starts to creep in. What happens when he loses a bit of confidence? Will the fanbase back him or treat him as we've seen then treat the likes of pogba, wan bisaka, Rashford, martial, etc? This is key to his development. I wish he'd leave and go to a less toxic fanbase cos United's and England's fanbase are just waiting for him to slip up as there seems to be a high number of racist pricks embedded (not all, of course; never all) wjo seem to drive the narrative
I don’t know why holjund wasn’t used. He could have done what Bruno did and Bruno what mcsauce did. I hate seeing mcsauce in the team, no technique at all.
