Sadie Winfield there only 1 different between when the wanted formed and when 1d formed Didn’t make a difference for either band really they both broke up wanted in 2014 one direction had a member lead be in 2015 then officially broke up in 2016 Maybe if they were formed in 2018 or later

Madison Thorne I have to point out One Direction have not broken up, just went on a Hiatus (break), and considering we know at least 3/4(5) members definitely want to go back don’t crush my hope. But I personally think they would have done better had 1D not been around because that was direct competition, but also better management? as they said in the video they were tying to recreate the success of Glad You Came which just didn’t work

I hated that song and that made me hate the wanted

I don't care what anyone tells me, The Wanted were extremely underrated and deserved everything in this world, not only were their songs BOPs but they even had such vibrant personalities. I could just write essays on how much they meant to me while growing up and the amount of influence they had but I doubt that even that'd be enough. I'm so glad (you came. I'll go home now) to have stanned such legends while they were still active and maybe I have such a soft corner for them because they were the first band that I ever stanned but I'll always treasure them.

As a fan of The Wanted myself, I can say that the reason of their ending wasn't just for One Direction. Yes, they always fought for trying to be the best boyband in the music industry, but to be honest all of the boybands at that moment fought for the same thing (like BTR, The Vamps, Lawson and 5sos). The real reason of their ending was the fame (and not knowing how to handle it), changing Jayne to Scooter Braun as their manager, doing stupid things for publicity (like the reality show on E!, The Wanted Life) and trying to do an album that didn't match with their personality, that's why they flopped. They could have done better, but some member just didn't want to keep going with it.

I remember seeing an interview with Max saying the wanted ended because one direction dominated the market. Thats all he said, but theres clearly more to it. Also a dailymail article said this "Rows over girlfriends and pressure over poor sales led to tensions." in the group.

It’s sad how no one actually knows how supportive the wanted were to one direction when one direction were on X factor like in a wanted Wednesday they told all their fans to support one direction .. to me, the wanted were ahead of their time because they would vlog EVERYthing for their fans and post them EVERY Wednesday for 5 years but not many people focused on them because of other groups. The wanted with fan service is something I will never forget .. I remember they had fan meetings FOR FREE when all time low came out and for 5 years they did so many things like that. I miss them so much .. like yall can drag them or whatever but I felt so much closer to the wanted than I ever did with any other boy group at that time.

I saw them when they opened for Ariana Grande, I think back in 2015. I thought they were actually better than her, at least in that type of concert setting, and I'm sad that they haven't really found widespread mainstream success. Their music is a little too pop-y for my current tastes, but I still think that they're pretty good.

BTS is running the game, western bands all suck shit that’s why americans & Europeans turn to KPOP bands

They might have had a better chance had they not come out around the same time as another huge band. A lot of it had to do with the fact that One Direction was the shiny new toy, and The Wanted was still largely unknown. The bands also looked a little similar in number, appearance, the fact that they were both from the U.K., and they often used the same formula to create chart topping hits. This would elicit an underlying tension and competitive nature between the bands (at least on the side of The Wanted). Besides that, One Direction was supported by Simon Cowell and his label. They had an empire behind them, while The Wanted were signed to a much smaller label. It was bound to happen to them. Unfortunate, but true.

@@nyxxxyyxx7650 Yeah...although Siva and the leader of The Wanted were really handsome(this blue-eyed bold boy almost always standing in the middle looking a little like Pitbull; I don't know his name lmfao), The other thing is they were older than 1D boys; all members in their peak years were already in their mid-20s (all born in '88, except one of them who was actually 5 years younger than them and born in '93), meanwhile 1D boys were not only arguably more good-looking but also in their teens (except Louis Tomilson) so they were more approachable to teenage girls being the main audience of such boy bands, while between The Wanted and their potential teenage fans was bigger age gap.

Can’t believe you didn’t mention “I Found You” in the video. For me that’s when the downfall was most noticeable. They tried to promote it, even performed it at the AMA’s, but it was an obvious attempt in replicating “glad you came” and they fell short.

To me Nathan was the most talented, he has such a beautiful unique voice that happens to be very deep but somehow still enjoyable. He is the only one i still follow, I totally forgot about the others.

They were a man band to a older audience

i feel like if the wanted got better promoted and did their own thing instead of just trying to beat out 1D they would have been successful, they cared way too much about being nr1 when in reality that's not the most important thing. If you look at the vamps in example they started out around the same time as 1D and even though they never beat them they are still making music and are successful in their own right. I just feel like they didn't have pure intentions behind starting the group in the first place.

Oh these boys... They will forever hold a special place in my heart. Seriously one of the most underrated boybands of all time. The talent they had was insane. I was a fan super early on... Small town Indiana girl somehow stumbled across their youtube channel literally playing shows at elementary schools. I saw them in concert 6 times, met them at an airport, got pulled on stage by Jay, ended up being in a Wanted Wednesday video, hung out with them for hours after their shows, and shared some shots with a few of them. They were literally some of the most down to earth people I've ever met. For a lot of people like me they were our island of misfits and made it okay to be a little weird. I just wish that someday I could see them again... Sometimes I think about them and it feels more like I lost a friend than as if a favorite band broke up. If you don't know them... Here are a few of my favorite songs or covers they did. You will thank yourself later! Gold Forever Lightning Warzone (Yes the first 40 seconds are his actual voice... He is a top 10 vocalist of all time for me) Killers or Coldplay Medleys

Well, now that 1D is gone, all those bands are back and ready to make it big. One Direction won't be back in a long time, to not say never, so now The Wanted and all the boy bands from the 2010's can achieve the fame and popularity they deserve. I'm glad to see them together again, feels like my teenage years are back. 💕💕

I feel like they could've been sucessful (maybe not 1D level) if they kept a more mature sound & image, that 1D didnt had at the time , targeting another audience. Walks like Rihanna sounds like a 1D rejected song.

One Direction had already made songs targeting young ones and The Wanted tried replicating that(Walks like Rihanna) which resulted in Louis's tweet which was a diss on the Wanted. And tbh Wanted could actually be better than 1D cause their songs ain't immature like 1D 😒if there are any one direction fans reading this, I'm sorry but that's the truth

Yes but scooter Braun was like the biggest reason for their break up, but they said they aren't permanently disbanding so maybe another album soon

No, He got a few things a bit twisted by accident. We own the night was big enough that it had radio play in America. They could’ve kept going and been fine. When they split, tom had said only Nathan and max wanted to break because Nathan wanted (lol) to be solo and max wanted to act. Jay had said about he was really stressed and didn’t want to end things because he never thought of a career outside of the wanted

they would have died eventually cause most teen girls in America were either fangirls of JB or one direction and after the feud, I rmbr how no one gave a crap about them and they were​ always hated on so it would have been hard to still be successful in America. so again, 1D cancelled them.

Daisy Blue well, of course they would run its natural course. Because boy bands are designed to make record labels money, they aren’t supposed to last. What breaks boy bands/girl bands split up are that they’re strangers who are placed in a band together from competitions and by record labels, so personalities clash and hard feelings develop because they never had a friendship. The only one who’s lasted is Backstreet Boys because they weren’t placed together. AJ and Howie formed a band because they were friends and wanted to perform together. Kevin joined when he heard about the band through a co worker. Kevin invited Brian into the band and nick was the only one who was placed into the band through auditions. Even the filthy webs precious bts aren’t really going to last. I think teenage suicide will sky rocket the day they break. Point being: a band can’t cancel a band out when neither are supposed to last. They did make it far, but it’s ridiculous to think either would have a lasting career as a band

Kennedy Stewart but they still ended. Ambitions of being solo and personalities still repelled. “You know I used to be in 1D, now I’m out free”. That doesn’t sound like someone who liked being in a band

The Wanted will always have a special place in my heart, since 2011-2014. Their music really guided me through teenage years (more so, their underrated songs) and I couldn’t thank them enough. Nathan Sykes truly stood out to me the most, he is the member that made me interested into listening to this boyband. His voice and stage presence was so unique and captivating. I had a twitter account where I meant lots of wonderful people (twfanmily) whom I’m still friends with today and so glad I got to experience being in a true fandom. One thing I adore about this band, is they would interact with us on Twitter. One of the happiest moments is when I got noticed by them on twitter and 4/5 members following me which is pretty amazing. However, the only time that it was shitty was with directioners.. since I was a fan of both at the time.. it was hard listening to people bashing them. But I didn’t let them get to me and continued to support this band on Twitter. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to meet them or see them live.. as they cancelled their world tour. Till this day, that still breaks my heart.. being a fan for nearly 4 years and the experience being taken away from you. Anyways, it’s safe to say I have moved on but will never forget them.. these memories will literally stay gold forever. ❤️ All time low, gold forever, I’ll be your strength, warzone, rocket, last to know, lie to me, demons, in the middle, everybody knows will still remain my favourite songs ever.

Honestly they're still quite popular here in the UK and they never released a bad song; I wish I was old enough to go to their concerts.

No band should make music to compete with something. That’s not really what music is about. And those who make music to get number one in the charts. Tend to loose sight of why the started in the first place. And their music becomes generic and bland. Which is why. As a result. They end up fading out and being replaced by someone else who is basically the same as them. Just look at who was in the charts none stop 5 or so years ago. Compared to now. Make music that talks to, and expresses yourself

i’ve said it for 6 years now and i will always stand by it but coming from a fan that has been a fan since the beginning i really believe that scooter braun played a huge role in their brake up. jane was a great manager (#wantedwednesday on YT) however i knew if she were to stay manager they would stay a local UK band (like JLS). the minute i knew that scooter was their new manager along with the TV show i knew things would go wrong. i miss them as a group and still love their 1st and 2nd albums, although i don’t really listen to their individual work. maybe in the future they wont do anything big but something small and meaningful to the thousands of fans they once (and might still have) had.
