@A S hey, if we're talking about amazing pop music in this year, Bieber is not one of them. Yeah, his new album may sold more, but that won't stop the fact that he forced his fans to buy and stream his God-forsaken single, "Yummy", which is so down-right terrible. And the rest of the album, well, I haven't fully heard. The single "Intentions" is not good in my opinion. But if you really enjoy his new music, go ahead, enjoy it, and ignore my opinion. I think that Bieber's new music is garbage, while you think otherwise. So, do as I say. Have a good day/night.

I think because, nowadays, if a song don't blow up on tiktok, it's not gonna be that popular..and it's a really wrong direction for the pop music. This (most of Selena's "haters" are racists) Racist Bigot trashes Selena, who's music is simply and easily better than most of the artists' mentioned on this video and most of all top 40 hit radio artists, but praises and likes the cheaper music. Selena is no vocalist, that is sure, but neither is Taylor Swift, Madonna, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Chainsmokers, Justin Bieber, and they, among many one-hit wonders, are surely No vocalists. Yet, they are or were loved and sold huge numbers. IT. IS. RACISM that makes most not enjoy the music by Selena. Her REVIVAL album was easily better than 95% of all albums that have been released since in top 40 pop music. Easily. Some of her previous songs were also outstanding. Vocalists: That is not all that makes up a song. If the vocals are great but the rest is typical, basic, expected cheapness, then its all overall poor material. Shawn Mendes sings okay, his music is SO generic. Ed Sheeran sings okay, too, but his music is not that good and his voice, along with Mendes', are horrible. Ariana Grande started off with Good vocals, but over the past couple of years she can longer hold her notes/breath for more than 2 seconds, and her music is not exceptional at all. She goes high but anyone can do that, most simply choose not to. The best of pop are Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber (his "Purpose" music actually sucked but its Justin so it sold), Rihanna, all the EDM artists that we are familiar with, and The Weeknd (as long as he stops crying about his relationships).

They are all in decline and tiktok , social , meme , one hit "artists" are in the rising rn And the new sounds like HyperPop become popular 😬 like a personality trait Personally I want great singers with great ALBUMS not just singles with creativity and originality, that have an important message . And good performances, cuz they matter too It may appear as too much but we had MJ and Beyoncé , so the bar is already high ✨

@@brockcutright9289 ...um... you are kind of all over the place but if you are saying Eminem came out after Britney but in the same era of music I agree. My point was that Eminem and Nirvana were not and are not the same era of music. Nirvana was the early 90s grunge era and gangster rap. But not without pop music as Mariah Carey became famous in this era, Celine Dione came out with her first album. Grunge was popular but people often forget there was a lot of pop, Ace of Base, etc. But really I think R&B ruled the mainstream charts more. And I would say all 3 genres are dead: grunge, gangster rap, and R&B. But I genuinely have no idea what you are saying, it seems contrary to my point but your syntax is confusing so the point you are trying to make is getting a little lost in translation.

FINALLY! SOMEONE IS SAYING THIS! Pop music has been going down the drain. And it's so weird. It's literally been at the top of charts for years and now we have Drake, Post Malone, Cardi B & Childish Gambino dominating the charts. I think a lot of this is down to "locals". Rap is so popular within people my age. It's literally what's played at all the parties. And it's what they're constantly streaming on spotify etc.. Streams have such an impact on the Billboard Hot 100, and I think it was Diplo that said teens aren't gonna stream Look What You Made Me Do over and over again, it's not "cool". If you tell people you listen to Taylor Swift they're gonna laugh at you.

Yep. I remember the days when you listened to the radio and you could identify the song title and artist and everything was fun and dance worthy. But now all you hear are electronic/trap songs that all sound the same or similar and all the older pop stars are fading because they seemed to have reached their prime between 2010-2015.

You are forgetting that even though the singers are no longer in their prime, their producers can produce pop songs for the new generation, however it can take record labels over $1million to develop a new artist. I feel like it is the fact that Dr Luke is in legal trouble is why Katy is flopping. Dr. Luke prouduced a crapload of hits in the 2000's and 2010's but artists wont work with him due to Kesha's allegation against him. We also had RedOne who produced for Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga with Poker Face, Just Dance, Bad Romance. It is a shame that Lady Gaga had gained an ego so big that she thought she could write a hit with different producers(she flopped with Artpop which was when she didn't choose RedOne as the main producer).

I wish we could go back to the early half of the 2010's. All genres were popular then. Now it's just hip hop. And yes, while it's cool to see hip hop everywhere, at the same time it's tiring, especially now in 2021, when EVERY SINGLE RAPPEER SOUNDS THE SAME. I don't understand why pop died. It is a great genre. I grew up listening to it. The only thing that is keeping it alive are the 2000-2005 kids who grew up listening to pop, who keep going back and listening to old hits for the nostalgia.
