But you gotta know, these characters were made around the time when everyone wanted to be like Rabbids, which were very popular during the late 2000s and early-to-mid 2010s.

I think the premise of Happy could’ve worked with a better design. Like, maybe have his entire face on the front of the box, so he doesn’t have his eyes bulging from the top, and no realistic teeth.

I honestly loved Ronald McDonald as a child, and thought it would be so cool to meet him in person. Then became disappointed when I figured it out that Ronald wasn't actually a real person and just an actor on a clown costume instead of the actual owner of McDonald's.

Plot Twist: Happy was Ronald's creation that he made as Revenge for being afraid of him.

My friend and I were just talking about this the other day, wondering if they'd officially gotten rid of Ronald or not. I really miss him, he was such as iconic and likeable mascot. And I get that clowns can be scary (I personally love them but that's just me), but hell even as far as clown designs go his is REALLY tame and simple. Hardly scary at all, at least once they refined him. I'm just glad he at least still makes appearances sometimes, he doesn't deserve to be wiped away completely.

The name "Happy" is going to be ingrained the the mind of Kids for decades, but not for positive reasons.

Flippy is my favorite cartoon character and like to picture him in both Splatoon and Animal Crossing because those are both my favorite Nintendo games.

Happy looks more like he keeps and eats children in his basement than Ronald McDonald ever did You can take Ronald seriously because some children are afraid of him, people distrust him. Ronald is a great guy and understands not every kid vibes with him, he respectfully gives them space. Happy as an apex predator has evolved to lure in his prey. He has the front facing eyes of a hunter scavenger.

In my old elementary school, we use to get visits from Ronald Mcdonald annually. One year, everyone stopped talking about his next arrival and he never came back since. Now I know why;-;.

I thought I was the only one who was freaked out by this mascot. Like, wow when I’m asking for a clown to return as a mascot, that’s when you know you messed up.

With the way McDonald’s seems to be moving, I think Mac Tonight might be able to return, it would be a good chance to reintroduce him to the children while also bringing back a mascot some of the adults might remember

I feel like Happy honestly did more damage to the McDonalds brand than Ronald ever could. While I was neutral towards Ronald, I remember always hating Happy and then associating that hate with McDonald's as a whole. I didn't even want to take a look inside of a McDonald's, for fear of gazing upon that wretched creature.

Ronald never scares me, neither does Happy. I don't even have nightmares of him. I wish they could bring Ronald back. I've never met him in real life, but to me, he's a great friend. Like Steve from "Blue's Clues." I also wish they could continue his animated series. "The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald" was a great series. It had such awesome songs! Even though Ronald's not shown on TV so much anymore, I'll still remember his smile. 😊😁

The Happy Meal Box can never replace Ronald McDonald.

Actually, Happy was created back in 2009 for international markets, 1 year before the Minions were fully introduced. It wasn't until 2014 when they finally made their American debut.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen Ronald in advertising in a while, but McDonald's straight-up tried to _replace_ him? The new mascot isn't even related to Touhou music at all!! What were they thinking?

All I can think of is that meme of the happy meal with Happy's face in a tree smiling down at the camera in the dead of night with the caption stating something like "I was on a walk when I looked up and screamed." While I cannot find it, I still chuckle occasionally, thinking about it. While indeed creepy, if this never existed, then I would never get my free dose of serotonin when feeling down.

In Canada when Ronald went out we never got happy we just went right to the " fancy stage " in McDonald's.

I always wanted to know why the Happy Meal box became the new mascot for McDonald’s. Now the answer is finally revealed.

It feels like McDonald’s honestly combined the Minions and the Rabbids with a happy meal together to make this monstrosity.

Happy is an example of what I refer to as the "Idiot Swarm". The group of idiots that look similar or identical, speak gibberish, do random shit, and are designed to be highly marketable. The Minions, The Rabbids, those Cinnamon Toast Crunch squares that eat each other, and these ungodly Happy Meal abominations are all examples of this bizarre phenomenon. Also, I'm glad you brought up how bland and boring McDonalds' aesthetics have gotten. I have no idea what caused this shift, but even as someone who's never been much of a McDonalds' fan, I hate it. Probably even more than the creepy Happy mascots.

I didn't find him to be THAT horrifying tbh.

I grew out of Happy Meals right around the time these guys were starting to become popular. Dodged a bullet there.

They should probably use Mac Tonight again. After they settle the legal issues with the song Mack The Knife. Who wants to see Mac Tonight back in the spotlight again? I mean, his animatronics are still around in a handful of McDonald's.

Mcdonald's mascot was generally disturbing like they make the minions look likeable
