@@moarmy6779 in the late 80's mcdonaldland got sued by a kids series called H. R. Muppet stuff beacuse they claim mcdonaldland copied H. R. Muppet stuff and yeah when you look at both series you can see the resembelence and in the end mocdoanld's got sued for 1 milion dollars and in the proces they completly got rid off the hamburgelur to avoid anymore copyright issues but he is back now and im happy for him

@@anonimni1288 Actually. Hamburglar, Grimace and Birdie were kept around despite being McDonald’s being sued. Well into the 1990s till about 2003 actually. It was all the other McDonaldLand characters like Mayor McCheese. that disappeared because of the lawsuit. Getting rid of the Hamburglar did not have to do with the whole incident at all. Getting rid of the Hamburglar, Grimace and Birdie while only retaining Ronald was most likely a corporate decision.

I remember seeing several of the McDonald's land characters, including the Hamburglar, during my early youth, but I haven't been real familiar with those guys. Nevertheless, I'm happy to see him back. Gotta show the children of this generation the classics.

I actually like this new commercial. I have always liked Mc Donald's burgers and I'm also glad Mc Donald's brought back this character.

Nice to see a familiar face to be shown in modern day. Hoping they can bring the whole crew together in another ad. I’m hoping that moon guy comes back as well as a late night ad for McDonald’s. (Don’t remember his name but here’s a hint what he looks like. 🕶️ 🌙 🎹) Update: His name is Moon Man, also known for the ad “Mac Tonight” During the late 80s and all during the 90s as well as some ad in 2007.

His name’s Mac Tonight. Moon Man is what a bunch of racist people claimed him as. I also desperately wish he could come back, but unfortunately he’s now officially listed as a hate symbol by the Anti-Defamation League, so I doubt Mac Tonight could come back without a LOT of controversy.

If this means a return of McDonald's other old mascots, then I'm all in.

Y’know, I find it weird that whenever a company does something like this, they have some big response as to why they did it. Like, I want a company to do something like this, and when they’re asked why, they just say: “Just felt like it.”

I like it since we get a villain, but I think we should also get a hero too either one of the original characters, probably makes more sense, or a new hero of some kind so that the villain has some to stop him. It would be cool if they had some sort of fight. Doesn't necessarily have to be end game battle, but something kinda cool and entertaining to get people hyped about McDonald's food.

I feel like the Cactus Plant Flee Market thing probably also contributed to him coming back, McDonald’s saw how excited everyone got from seeing their classic characters again and it must’ve convinced them to do a full proper comeback of some of their characters

If Hamburglar's back, hopefully we'll also see Ronald and other classic characters return someday in commercials and stuff too. McDonaldland is such a treasured, distant memory for many of us 80s/90s kids.

I never knew about any of these characters but I did get some glimpses like that purple monster and the notorious hamburgrler and I still remember Rond McDonald in those commercials. But I never really knew that they even had any mascots to begin with. Until now! If we could get back the whole gang, it will be pretty interesting for new comers who haven’t seen them and a nostalgia trip for those who knew them first hand. It’s going to be a treat for both of us

I remember the Hamburgler when he was in the Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald, and I remember him being voiced by Charlie Adler, who was in Cow and Chicken.

I've seen this commercial on TV already, and I have to admit that it is already A LOT more memorable than most of their other commercials that they've been making in recent years.

Ronald’s not gone. They just hide him from soccer moms who complained about him being a clown so he’s mainly on social media. He’s also been used for events, and especially the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which not only uses him, but Grimace and Hamburglar as well because they can’t use kids since they’re not all vaccinated.

I mean since about 2015 they’ve been bringing back Grimace and The Hamburgaler. And last year they even brought back Birdie in that “adult kid’s meal” and I’m glad they bringing back the McDonaldland characters now!

Yes! Bring everyone back! Grimace, Birdie, Mayor McCheese, the whole squad! This is what kids need

Seeing the hamburgular again in a mcdonald's ad did feel nostalgic. Last time he was seen/used, from what I can remember, was the macy's parade alongside Ronald & grimace Hope we get to see more mcdonaldland characters in the future. But babysteps for now

Boy, did these news hit me like a child again! I loved this character when reading the McDonald Land characters comics which were included in the Happy Meals back in maybe 2003 or so 😅! Like I said before, though, I live overseas, way outside the US (in Europe to be exact), so I don't know if my home country will either reject or welcome Hamburglar back again, seeing how kids-related commercials (specifically when it comes to grocery merchandise and fast-food chains) have been completely banned here since 2004.

Ah sweet nostalgia at it's finiest. Good to see the Hamburgler back.

I've grown up with ALL of the McD mascots, I understand that people have Coulrophobia which led to Ronald's demise, but at least bringing back Hamburglar is a good nostalgia factor and made me smile to see him again. Though I couldn't say for the rest of the McD casts.

Grimace has always been my favorite so I hope he is brought back! The only ones kids today know are Ronald McDonald and the Happy Meal guys sadly.

Quick correction Vailskibum, not ANY character from McDonaldLand could come back, quite a lot of them were deemed to be too close in terms of copyright to characters that McDonalds had based the characters on, Mayor McCheese and the Scientist guy were big contenders in the lawsuit that followed if I'm not mistaken. I believe Hamburgler himself had to have a design change before he could be used again

He was gone for ~20 years because he was arrested. He returned because he was recently released.

I didn’t even know about the 2000s version, but did you know that they dropped Ronald Mcdonald? I learned that years after he was gone, and yet independent creators still use him when referring to the Mcdonald’s brand, imagine being so iconic that nobody notices when you’re gone.

Honestly, just seeing the silhouette on the thumbnail already had me screaming, because I never realized he was gone. But I'm glad he's back since he was my favourite lol.

Im super glad that they brought back the original Hamburgler, but im very concerned about Ronald returning even thou we TECHNICALY saw him since in the mid to late 2010's but only in specials events, so its very possible he and the rest of the Mcdonaland gang in their original appearance will return and HOPEFULLY we see their Mcdonalds Kids meal commercials again in the modern era, and im pretty sure Birdy will be voiced by Kaitlyn Robrock similar to the previous actress who voice Birdy since they where both voice as Minnie Mouse anyways

He’s still around but because he’s not politically correct anymore he’s hiding behind the scenes. Social media and some public events are his main appearances.

As soon as I realized what the outline was, I immediately knew it was him. *the hamburgalur is back. And I don't think there's a Ronald to stop him this time* (I say "I don't think" because I don't know if Ronald McDonald is still around)
