Why Northvolt's Battery Technology Is STUNNING The Entire Industry!

Ғылым және технология

Last year Northvolt announced a breakthrough in battery technology: a sodium-ion battery that promises to be cheaper, safer, and more sustainable than the conventional lithium-ion batteries. Since then, several automakers have expressed interest in partnering with Northvolt to use its sodium-ion battery in their future models. But that's not all, the company has just announced an interesting update about its sodium-ion battery, which could make it even more attractive and competitive. So, what has Northvolt just announced? And what makes this battery so special?

Time will tell: If manufacturing those batteries doesn't involve a so huge and time consuming process, and it really lowers the costs, then yes, but I believe we'll still need some more years for that technology to stable up more so that we have it on the streets...

My main questions are, is this available for retail purchases, and how compatible is it with current charging infrastructure? I'm seeing an 18650 battery with another brand on it, so is this something that can be integrated into packs like the current 18650 lion or Lifpo cells? Will I need to get a new charger if I build a pack for my E-bike? All of these concerns will add to the cost of the integration of a new type of battery.

NIO will embrace the northvolt tech. They can be put into 'existing cars' with the battery swap technology. Well done NV.

Now that makes sense ! Will Tesla be able to adapt or will they be wed to their lithium investment.? Also, how do these batteries perform in the cold weather that has recently shown the; nearly worthless in the cold, lithium junk batteries.

bad idea.. sodium is good enough to replace LFP in ESS/grid and maybe big buses, but not the EVs.

    Why not sodium sulphate?

It's good for hydro QC only, not very good for ev. But it's cheap storage with little impact on the environment.

160Wh/kg doesn’t really give me goosebumps. At least when mentioned together with Vehicles. IMHO we need to get to the point where on the initial charge gives a fully packed car in winter a range of around 400km and another 300km within 15 minutes of fast charging. All in the size and weight of an ICE. Then it will be live changing and I would say good bye to the ICE.

Not Goosebump for Long range , but Small Ranges like Public transport within a city , it would be great achievement . Sodium ion battery + Super capacitor = Day Range of Electricity. Note : Cost is extremely important factor.

How's the cold weather performance? Apparently the Tesla batteries suck at it. Meanwhile, the genius, is playing word games on the twit maker.

They are comparable with CATL Sodium batteries. Not innovative or better. More powerfull batteries are coming end 2024 with 900 Wh so lightweight an high energy density >1700 and probably same KWh price as Sodium ion Innovations goes fast😊😊

Your AI generated video sucks! But if the information that it has is true, it excites me because the playing field keeps getting broader and broader every year and that is beneficial to everyone and the planet. Fossil fuels are dying.
