Why I Gave My Teenage Daughter a Vibrator | Robin Buckley | TED

"Why does a vibrator make us uncomfortable, but Viagra does not?" asks cognitive-behavioral coach Robin Buckley. Sharing her own personal story of empowering her teenage daughter to explore the power of pleasure, Buckley encourages parents to talk to their teens about healthy sexual development -- and shares why the awkward conversations are worth it.

Sure are a lot of folks missing the point of this talk or still stuck in backwards, antiquated thinking about parental relationships with their kids and actually guiding them as they mature rather than leaving them to their own devices to navigate it. I think too many parents leave the raising and guiding of their kids to the kids themselves and whatever other influences are in their lives, and with the prevalence of information - some good, some awful or just wrong - that is accessible on demand any time, anywhere, they could easily take a wrong or dangerous path. Connect with your kids, people, and give them good and safe information so they can start to take charge of their lives through their teen years.

I think it very much depends on the relationship you have with your daughter. if she really did come up to a single dad and told him the things she did tell her mother in the video, I think that already shows this is a topic you can talk about. Of course I would be in no position to give her any advice on the topic, but I would offer to buy her a coupon for a shop and tell her to do her own research and use the coupon to order whatever she wants on her own terms. but I can also imagine she would not feel fully confident to open up, in which case I would ask if she felt more comfortable talking to some cool aunt or mother of a friend she has who I would then get involved

You have to remember, Mark, that with guys the penis has plenty of surface area to do all kinds of motions, without cramping your hands. Meanwhile, with a vulva the clitoris is pretty small and most of what feels good is inside and harder to reach. Because it's such specific movements, a lot of people find it tiresome. Not everybody likes vibrators, but they're really good for getting a more consistent feeling, it takes a lot of the work out of it. Hope this makes sense.

So TED releases talk about vibrator's for 13 year olds but is afraid to release a well thought out piece about color blindness by Coleman Huges. So TED has a problem with a black man sincerely talking about a world where everyone is equal, where no one sees color in a melting pot like the USA, but could care less if a mother is on stage telling a story about getting her under age daughter a vibrator, what's this world coming too? People are triggered by color blindness but not a vibrator for 13 year Olds, is that what your saying?
