Why I Gave My Teenage Daughter a Vibrator | Robin Buckley | TED
"Why does a vibrator make us uncomfortable, but Viagra does not?" asks cognitive-behavioral coach Robin Buckley. Sharing her own personal story of empowering her teenage daughter to explore the power of pleasure, Buckley encourages parents to talk to their teens about healthy sexual development -- and shares why the awkward conversations are worth it.

Yeah. Most of these fools don't care about the basic human rights of a 13 year old child. The rest of us see right through what her narcissistic, abusive Mom did to her by going on KZread to announce it to the entire planet.
Sure are a lot of folks missing the point of this talk or still stuck in backwards, antiquated thinking about parental relationships with their kids and actually guiding them as they mature rather than leaving them to their own devices to navigate it. I think too many parents leave the raising and guiding of their kids to the kids themselves and whatever other influences are in their lives, and with the prevalence of information - some good, some awful or just wrong - that is accessible on demand any time, anywhere, they could easily take a wrong or dangerous path. Connect with your kids, people, and give them good and safe information so they can start to take charge of their lives through their teen years.
Bigger question- why discuss something private to her-,on the internet? That seems more perplexing.

All she's going to face now at school is just a lot of never-ending, escalating bullying and sexual harassment, all because her Mom just couldn't keep her mouth shut about her masturbating at age 13.

I think it very much depends on the relationship you have with your daughter. if she really did come up to a single dad and told him the things she did tell her mother in the video, I think that already shows this is a topic you can talk about. Of course I would be in no position to give her any advice on the topic, but I would offer to buy her a coupon for a shop and tell her to do her own research and use the coupon to order whatever she wants on her own terms. but I can also imagine she would not feel fully confident to open up, in which case I would ask if she felt more comfortable talking to some cool aunt or mother of a friend she has who I would then get involved

You have to remember, Mark, that with guys the penis has plenty of surface area to do all kinds of motions, without cramping your hands. Meanwhile, with a vulva the clitoris is pretty small and most of what feels good is inside and harder to reach. Because it's such specific movements, a lot of people find it tiresome. Not everybody likes vibrators, but they're really good for getting a more consistent feeling, it takes a lot of the work out of it. Hope this makes sense.

Trust me, no one needs to know what a 13 year old CHILD does in their bedroom. The Persians aren't missing anything.
So TED releases talk about vibrator's for 13 year olds but is afraid to release a well thought out piece about color blindness by Coleman Huges. So TED has a problem with a black man sincerely talking about a world where everyone is equal, where no one sees color in a melting pot like the USA, but could care less if a mother is on stage telling a story about getting her under age daughter a vibrator, what's this world coming too? People are triggered by color blindness but not a vibrator for 13 year Olds, is that what your saying?

Main points: -oh hey, that sounds like a good idea! -oh hey, that sounds like a bad idea! -if my mom said this on stage I'd wilt -what about teen boys -we're already sexualizing young girls, why give them the tools to explore pleasure by themselves -i think the mom is a freak -wow, the things people come up with these days I think that's all of em 👍
Can we not let kids BE. 98% of us have given them computers and phones, and now this is the solution. Are young people so dense they cant even figure this out? "Hey Siri..."
She is surely a single mother.
Wat
is a former child myself I agree that your children need all the help they can get. People are weird even in the sixties strange things happen to the unaware.

@@justrosy5 It's ENTIRELY age appropriate. That is around the age teens start getting sexual desire & experimenting with masturbation.
Not sure on the physical answer to my question. But physically she will not be a virgin? No big deal really for some. Will she also have greater expectation from any future partners who may not be able to perform to vibrators level? Would this become a measuring tool for future relationships? I hope her mother also discuses other aspects of relationship building. I applaud her efforts.
Unsubscribed this is sad.
Is this really the problem? Young women on the tick tok talking about body counts with 3 digit numbers and “I only date 6’6” or taller” and always looking to upgrade.

There's no way anyone's getting a three digit body count by only dating people 6'6" or taller.

@@matt8264 no, you can't add that feature back. there are browser extensions that make guesses based on how the people who have the plugin installed voted. the problem is, people who want a dislike number back are not a representative sample of the whole youtube audience, so there is no way of taking that data and extrapolating how many dislikes a video actually has.

As it should have, and it wasn't even specific enough to address the real problem here. That "teenager" is a THIRTEEN YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL.
