It can be a very interesting paradox, there is people that do all of the conditioning in the world, and still burn out, then there are some boxers that can be out of shape and still go round after round easy. I remember seeing something that said that James Toney later in his career would go to the gym, eat a big cheeseburger, hit the speed bag a couple of times, and then embarrass and talk his sparring partners ears off for twelve rounds. He’d be in there with a gut and still be way to fast for them to handle, pretty amazing stuff.

I could see another reason Roberto is such a good fighter is because his attitude is so meek to learn. Fools think meekness is a weakness but a meek person is open to knowledge. They reason. It's not just technique, it's thinking. They are observant to see how to figure out what is best to work for them. That makes a tough person to beat. To God be the glory!

Very insightful, thank you. When I'm underconfident, my subconscious sometimes tries finding a face-saving reason to lose or quit. Losing/mentally quitting because 'I wasn't conditioned enough' is easier to accept than 'I was a coward'. So that's what my subconscious gives me, the false feeling of fatigue.

Haru Mori * * * * * Thank You for Watching and for commenting... Sorry it took so long to get back at you with a reply but I only now notice that I had not replied... It has nothing to do with being a Coward * * * * * I will try to help you understand right now .... A fighter gets in top condition, as good as any other athlete, but when he gets in the ring, the opponent in the other corner is to much for him... Until you learn how to relax under the pressure of someone attacking you = you should only be in the ring with guys who can't or won't put to much pressure on you .... This is how you train your brain to deal with the pressure... You are not having a FALSE FELLING of FATIGUE = The fatigue is real, but because pressure makes you spend your energy really fast .... Being stressed burns your energy right now ... Haru learn to deal with the pressure by making sure the guy acroos the ring from you is someone you can deal with....As you grow in experience you should learn to strengthen your mind to relax under pressure... Your are not a coward, or you would play a video game rather than get in a boxing ring ! Everyone who gets in a BOXING RING is scared EVERYONE ! = Mike Tyson everyone ! They just learn to hide it and deal with it... Scared is not cowardly, it is completely natural to be scared, it is how we learn to deal with it that is important * * * * * Learn with the right opponents... As you grow then pickon tougher opponents ! Put the right opponent in the corner across the ring from you and the stess with be minimal.... I hope that helps ! Sugar is white = candy, cake, coca cola, and such is a NO NO ! white rice, cow milk, potatoes, white bread and more = you got it ! Should not have to tell to stay away from Junk/fast foods = Burger King and such.. Eat enough and leave seconds and 3rds. on the table for someone else... This is another great video, I think this can apply to all sports and all walks of life as well. I always found it amazing watching older fights seeing the great ones go 15 rounds and be boxing beautifully the whole time, never even looking like they were tired. To me, the greatest boxers are the ones that can relax and do whatever they want to do without any hitches. One of the best ones I saw of this was Wilfred Benitez, who could be fighting great fighters, but would be as relaxed as I would be on my couch. Again, great video, and it’s always really interesting to listen to your channel.

Relaxing in a fight situation is probably the hardest thing I've ever worked on. Best is some guy pulling some shit on you, on the street, where you didn't even have time to be scared, and your particular fight training took over. By the time you remember to be scared and tense, dudes on the ground. Bruce Lee preached relaxation.

I now take one day of rest in which i practice stretching and yoga stuff, which is not demanding if you want to rest one or two days per week, also a light run is a good job... With that improved also my daily workout mentally; flexibility is just another way to express the force and the wilness potential of the body, It should recive aknowledgement that i believe in this sport is sort of suppressed for disbelief and lack of discipline... The exception being that, as you mention in your comment ~ stress causing the fighter to hold his breath. There is a need to catch yourself when stress / pressure is getting thick ! Breathing should be NATURAL with little to no focus on it. You have enough to do, FOCUSING on the opponent *. Breath as needed, in the nose out the mouth, should not be thought about... You DO want to NOTICE if you are HOLDING your breath, as pressure, and stress will cause this to happen, and that ain't good. So do try to catch your self if the pressure of stress causes you to NOT breath naturally ***. Learn to relax (so important) and be a natural animal !
