Hi Dr. Bhatti, I've been taking Finasteride for two years now, and while I've noticed a bit of hair growth around my crown area, it seems to have helped slow down my hair loss. I recently had a hair transplant, and it's been three days since the surgery. My doctor mentioned that I have miniaturized hairs all over my scalp, which is common with male pattern baldness. Now, I'm trying to decide what to do next. Should I let my hair grow this year to see how the transplant turns out while continuing with Finasteride? Then, after a year, I could think about adding Minoxidil. Or should I start using Topical Minoxidil now, even though I've never used it before, while still taking Finasteride? I'm worried that if I start Minoxidil now, I won't be able to tell if any new hair growth is from Minoxidil or the transplant after a year. On the other hand, Minoxidil might help the transplanted hairs. But I also don't want to wait too long. Some people say Minoxidil's effects wear off after a few years, so maybe I should save it for later when my hair loss is worse? I'm really unsure about what to do, and I'd appreciate your advice. It is absolutely essential to take oral Finasteride and Minoxidl (topical/oral) for 6 months after a hair transplant. You can please experiement later.

Not a good idea.

Doctor I had a lung infection, of small lesions were on my lung, and it’s getting reducing on my CT scans, my HT plans were postponed bcaz of this, So after my HT , what medication will u prefer, since any medications would affect my current infection , am grade 3-4 , kindly suggest me dr Should I avoid finasteride and use minoxidil only , or no medications

I think during the times we are in, lung health is more important than anything else and you should be careful. Finasteride will not affect it, but chances of acquiring infection when going out traveling may not be in your best interest.

Do you have kidney ailment? Finastreide is a DHT blocker and Minoxidil is not. hence the latter is not a replacement for Finasteride. Many ofmy clients have taken Finasteride for over 10-15 years and no problem at all. However consult a doctor before you go onto this medication.

What do you think of lateral slit technique for implantation?

Nothing better than the lateral slit technique. That is what we follow since we make premade slits before we implant hairs through implanter pens. Since most clinics use implanter pens directly , the lateral slit technique is becoming history.

It will not grow back hair. However will decrease speed of hairline recession.

Respected sir plz answer me I have slightly male pattern receding hairline...if I take finastride for few months after some new hair growth if I will stop taking finastride then my new hairs suddenly fall out or as before normal routine life??if suddenly fall out can I manage it by applying onion juice and scalp massage

Onion juice and scalp massage are no alternative to pharmacological grade DHT blockers. Hair maintained by Finasteride or even Minoxidil will all fall off soon after you stop the medication.

@@hairtransplantinindia minoxidil increase blood flow in scalpe..... after stop using minoxidil we can also increase blood flow in scalpe by balayam and exercise and we can save regrowthed hair by increasing blood flow....what's ur opinion on this sir??

No it is not. However, people who have their hair transplant done at a younger age are noted to have considerable thinning of scalp donor and transplanted hairs if they are extensively bald. Long term Finasteride in this category helps in maintaining the result. If your hair loss is stable and your case selection for hair transplant was done properly, this is not a concern.

What about minoxidil sir if someone is using minoxidil should he stop it too

Sir i done fue i saw ur videos u told smoking 1 week before nd after 1 week is acceptable.. After my post op i didn't smoke for 10 days... Before my post op i smoked cogrates.. Smoking is not good for hair. It depends upon how much you smoke each day. Nicotine constricts peripheral arterioles and capillaries and the implanted follicles esp. if done in high density may run out of blood supply and affect the overall result. In those who smoke just 2-3 cigarettes a day, this is not noted.

I have not heard that. They will not cause hair loss.

Shedding happens in the first 2 months of starting Finasteride. If it happens later, you have either discontinued it or changed the brand or the baldness has suddenly progressed. Just do not stop Finasteride. How long have you been taking it?

You will need to get an in person consultation first. Finasteride is a precsription only drug. What is your total testosterone level?
