When I was ten years old I stole a yo-yo. I put it in mom’s junk drawer. I still feel guilty at 70 years old, and ashamed. I was too young to remember what store it was. I told my mom later, but we had moved. Repented, and cried a lot. We don’t see a lot of this for a long time.

Yes, other videos show that the conflict started when she filled a cart with $1000 worth of merchandise, then told the checkout girl that she wanted it for nothng, as reparations for being black. The manager tried to tell her to take it to corporate, but she wanted HIM to approve it, and chased him into his ffice. That's why she said she was "willing to be arrested for this cause" and walked out so proud of her handcuffs: she was seeing this as her Nelson Mandela moment or something, when it's actually a case of an over-entitled idiot meeting reality.

She says she doesn't want to go to jail, then she shouldn't break the law.

I am a black man who has been around for more than 6 decades and I know what I'm saying when I suggest this officer did NOT treat this woman badly at all. Based solely on this interaction it is impossible to say this white officer is in any way racist. The fact that she is a pregnant woman suffering the pains and indignities of arrest all stem from her choosing to go into a store and shoplift. As a criminal suspect she knew she was pregnant before she CHOSE TO SHOPLIFT! Having black skin while pregnant does NOT give her the right to shoplift. Black skin is not a license to commit crime or not be detained, handled and processed by police officers during lawful apprehension efforts.

I love how someone is asked "Have you ever been arrested before?" and it's all distraction and avoiding. I know exactly how many times I've been arrested. When the shoplifters take stuff from stores, the store will file claim with their insurance company for loss profits which intern insurance company raises their rates to that store, which unfortunately gets passed down to the consumer. In the case of theft, if the total cost of the items being stolen "doesnt" exceed a certain amount, no law enforcement is made to make an arrest, or pursue charges. Petty thiefs take this as a challenge, and will often steal from stores knowing there's the likelihood that they won't be arrested or charged for theft. In the case of the medical officer, she likely gets a small rush for stealing, or she used to, and now it's just habitual for her to steal. The guy is probably assuming she may be from a Democrat ran state, and since their policies are soft on crime, she probably hasn't been apprehended in the past for her small thefts, which leads to her having made a habit of stealing without consequences. It's a bit of a leap, but the rationale is sound. He just did a terrible job of conveying that. Hope I cleared things up.

The Dr on $300,000 that stole $940 worth of stuff from Target must have been doing it for the thrill. Can’t imagine any other reason for risking everything for something so stupid!

Ever been caught doing something you shouldn’t be doing? Your stomach sinks, your heart races, your mind races, your mouth dries up….getting caught as an adult by the police? All those things only worse lol. I unfortunately speak from experience, although fortunately my main reaction was just to cuss at myself for being a damn idiot lol. One thing all these folks could learn is to just accept responsibility and consequences for their actions. Makes it all much smoother and less torturous. Edit: it’s a lot easier mentally to commit a crime or do something wrong when you’re feeling like you won’t be caught. It’s a lot harder mentally when you *are* caught, cause most people don’t commit crimes if they’re expecting to be caught. They’re expecting to get away with, so immediate consequences turns their brains to mush.

Oh! Let me tell u! Drugs and addiction mess u up! U don't steal for no reason. Most thieves are addicts. I believe every one of them is on drugs or alcohol. It feels like dying when you can't give your body the medicine it's used to, so it's terrifying to go to jail for even 24 hours. Worst. Feeling. Ever. Totally necessary wakeup call though.

I am watching a video of a woman named Maryeris being charged with shoplifting by the Eatontown Police Department. Near the end, I heard someone say the date was November 14, 2024. How could that be when the month we are in is April 20, 2024? I scanned through quite a few comments and I have to agree with their reactions to how so many women accused of committing a crime and have to be cuffed and taken to jail all scream "I'm pregnant!" I also agree that those who really are pregnant, but choose to shoplift anyway, have no one but themselves to blame for any repercussions.

Incredible how things have changed during my lifetime. No shame for stealing. Crime rate up tremendously since I grew up in fifties and sixties. We didn’t even lock our doors. Kids were safe and we roamed around for mikes and stayed gone all day.
