When Good Samaritans Save The Cops

Ойын-сауық

In moments of danger, when the guardians of our streets find themselves in need, it's not
always fellow officers who come to their aid. Sometimes, it's the unsung heroes among us, the
Good Samaritans, who step up without a second thought. Here are the seven cases When
Good Samaritans Save The Cops. Their bravery doesn't wear a uniform, and their courage has
no limits

Regarding the first case, a pregnant police officer should not be patrolling the streets. It's too dangerous for the soon to be born baby. The police department should have her assigned at least to temporary desk office work.

I thought they're supposed to protect all life?! I imagine it's a no-win scenario either way for her immediate superiors..., until she gets hurt on the job, and sues their county for LOTS of money and ALL "future" damages losing a child can cause her. Male officers can't do that!

I got crazy theories about that. But get mad at other ppl sure. Just know that later becomes the problem we see today. Im a jaded male from being a victim of dv. Instead of blurring out half of the video and most importantly, when the announcer says the situation was under control, when he was handcuffed, I’m sure it wasn’t needed to put the red writing on the screen, saying handcuffs and pointed an arrow to his wrist. Another thing, why would I police officer be workingwhen she is pregnant? If you’re going to blur out half the videos you put on the air well I would rather not watch anything at all.

As a firefighter, I really respect the people who help out these cops! But in the third video with the police car getting hit I have to say: never, ever flip a car back with possibly injured people inside! If they have a neck injury, this could literally be the blow that kills them. Try to assist them out through a broken (side!) window when they are conscious. Otherwise, wait for professional help! I have seen that a person died AFTER getting out of the car because he wanted to look the other way and appeared to have a broken neck. So, as long as the car is not on fire, have injured people stay in the car until a paramedic checked for neck or back injuries. Again I respect the people who helped out, and in this case I think it helped the female cop to get back to her senses.

@24:19 the story reminds me of my similar case.. In 2004 I had a puncture on a motorway and crashed into a bridge support. The car was totalled AND ON FIRE, I had broken my neck and was temporarily paralysed, I suffered 45% full thickness burns and a shattered ankle and lots more. Two lorry drivers in an Iceland( a British freezer supermarket) truck stopped and both men ran down the embankment to pull me from my BURNING car they got me to the hardshoulder and put my flames out. The car exploded behind them, a couple of minutes more and boom all three of us dead. They SAVED MY LIFE, without their bravery I would be dead, I am ok now, my neck stabilised and I walk normally the only lasting issues are nerve damage, skin grafts and a shattered ankle. I never got to thank the two men but think of their bravery often.

Watched another video earlier today showing a male officer who ended up being attacked by a suspect who put him in a headlock and another who got pinned underneath the suspect and couldn’t get free. Both times, Good Samaritans assisted and saved the officers’ lives. They need to improve officers’ ‘cuffs so they snap on quickly without having to fiddle around seemingly endlessly with them.

I would be very careful when considering being a Samaritan. On July 4, 1998 my wife and I were getting ready to head to the park to watch the fireworks when we saw my next door neighbor beating the living $hit out of his wife in the driveway. In the 6 months they lived there, the police had been at their house at least 5 times, but this was the first time I actually witnessed it happening. I ran next door and pinned Henry (the husband) on the ground while my wife called 911. When deputies arrived they tackled me like a group of defensive linemen. Once my wife explained what was going on, I was still cuffed and put in a patrol car. Collectively the officers agreed that, despite the call, they witnessed me assaulting Henry. Officers spoke with the wife and she didn't want to press charges on Henry because it was a "mutual combat" I was still arrested and spent the rest of the 4th of July in San Bernardino County jail because the officers couldn't ignore the assault they had all witnessed despite me spotless criminal record. Ultimately I was released in the morning and the charges were dropped. Yeah, next time something like that happens I will look the other way

But since you brought it up, yes you could hear the fear in her voice. The guy was a lunatic. Just like you can hear the fear in other officers voices when they are in similar situations before backup arrives. And yes, sometimes bystanders help police and it does save lives. But as for this being caused by inexperience or because she is not in command of the situation, we are going to have to agree to disagree there. I don't know that any officer could have contained this situation safely on their own. This guy was off the charts insane. You can't just conveniently ignore that.

Once the bystander arrived, she should've THEN immediately used the tazer, after the first warning.. NOT verbally threatening him repeatedly. The suspect has reached for her gun. If she were alone, I'm afraid they're very likely been a different outcome. She did her best..but, again, without the assist of the male passerby... she would have been overpowered. It depends upon the department, but majority let the officer work in their normal capacity until one of two things happens: a) they decide they are ready to switch to light duty, or b) they can no longer perform their essential job functions with reasonable accommodations then they're transferred to light duties. It's common for officers who are pregnant to switch to light duty relatively quickly after discovering pregnancy/letting their department know they're pregnant or once they start showing physically.

It didn't say how far along she was. She literally could have just found out she was pregnant that day and could only be a few weeks along. If you have been pregnant before then you should know full well that the fetus is very well protected in the first few months. I'm sure your doctor had informed you of this. And it could very well only be a cluster of cells at this point. Now if she was 8 months pregnant? Different story. But you shouldn't judge because you don't have enough information to make an informed opinion yet. Just for the record (not that it makes any difference whatsoever) but I am also stating this as a woman who has also been pregnant before.
