Good video... I bumped into a couple at a charging station at Ardmore Oklahoma. They were given one of these at an Avis in Dallas They had no idea they were going to get an electric car, and have no idea how to charge it. Plus they were headed to the Wichita mountains north of Lawton Oklahoma and that's trashy BTC hardware Francis land. I did everything I could do to help them I got them charging at the EA in Ardmore with my account because the credit card reader wasn't working. I told them the credit card readers on the Francis stations didn't work at Lawton that they would need the app. I'm sure they're a trip wasn't pleasant.

Nice! Hyundai kia max at 105kw, and the new ev9 is only 85kw.

Brandon your correct. I have one. The max I’ve ever managed to get out of EA is 187kw and I was there 22 minutes with a warm pack. Worst/ longest charge time was 48 minutes but it was all my fault, ice cold pack below freezing and I didn’t use the cars navigation so the car didn’t precondition and I drove it down to 8%.

Cool! Nice surprise to get ~40kW extra. Front charge port seems easy from a plugging in standpoint, but I agree, it could get pretty nasty in bug season.

Hey Branden I just Videoed 179kW ona ID 4 at a Magic Dock in Minnesota (I uploaded youtube earlier today) Looks Tesla just updated the software for non Teslas. Your reaction was funny wait what 122k kW because i reacted the same .. I was like woah 172 , 173 179kW lol . btw.. my battery was like 57F , it was 35F outside and I started right off at around 140kW (%10 SOC). and that was without battery preconditioning as you know the ID 4 does not have it. I am going to run a full %10-80% on the MagicDock ina few days

Branden, do you know if the Magic Docks are still limited to 350A? Or did they raise it to 500A?

Great video, Branden. I've never seen a Kia/Hyundai go any higher than 97kw on a Magic Dock due to that rear motor inverter limit. Could it be because it's not a true E-GMP platform? Otherwise, why would the higher amp make a difference?

Thank you for this in-depth video Branden! It's interesting to hear that the G80's voltage is only around 600 volts. That is especially surprising coming from an EV6, which is also part of the E-GMP family. My car's voltage is firmly in the 700 volt range. So I guess the G80's voltage is closer to the EV9, since the EV9 is also a low 800 volt vehicle.

I thought tesla wasn’t opening up charging for genesis until 2025. I just got a 2024 GV70E. Can you do it now? That charging was slow though. Luckily I have EA stations near by that can do the full 250

I do think Tesla should make the end stalls for non Tesla vehicles and this would allow more wiggle room for the old CCS1 vehicles to get in a better position to plug in with those short cables. Also new brands should position the charge post to the left rear and or right front. 2024 should be a very big improvement of DC fast chargers in North America. I think DC fast charging will only get better this year forward.

I’m planning to get my first electric next week, which will be the G80, can you tell me how much it cost you to charge that one from 21%? I know you said it was 0.49/kWh…but I honestly don’t know anything to calculate.

  • @fourex59

Branden, was there any reason why you didn’t identify the location of this charging station? I’m just curious as a Genesis GV 60 owner.

  • @dosomething6776

What app did you use to activate the charge?

  • @davidws5439

Brandon, is the cable not long enough so you don't have to block another stall? I see the site is not that busy, just wounded if it would reach?

Great video! Tesla should be taking notes on how to make a proper luxury car, the Genesis looks AMAZING.

I am Impressed, did not think on a 800 volt Hyundai platform to get 122KW, that is actually a lot better than I have seen others get, Tesla must have change it up!

I think having the plug in the front seems like the best location. You dont have to back up. You can park on city streets and use sidewalk chargers. Seems like the best location to me.
