Malaysian food is some of the very best in the world, usually ranked in the top 5 foodie destinations. The cultural diversity of the country is reflected in the food with a wild fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian, European, and Asian styles and ingredients, all with a distinctly Malaysian core. The food culture is somewhat similar to Cajun/Creole food culture in Louisiana where life and society revolves around the enjoyment of food. Also, religious tolerance is unlike anywhere else in the world. It's a Muslim-majority country, but with large Buddhist, Hindu, and other religions present. The key is that all religious holidays are celebrated by EVERYBODY and participation is welcomed by all. You guys should really plan a trip! - Peter

The wonderful thing about Malaysia is its diversity. We have our own problems like every country. But the people will still welcome and help each other when in need. You've only scratched the surface with the Malay and Muslim celebrations and households. You should try to check out the Chinese culture here during Lunar New Year and the Indian culture during Deepavali. All of us have our own distinct food and celebrations. Keel up the good work.

My have several family recipes, 1.dendeng daging 2. Sambal goreng pengantin - this is mixed of fried cow organs 3. Sambal kacang with prawns 4. Mee Siam (fried vermicelli noodles with a kind of sour gravy made with tamarind juice, fermented soy(taucu)

Ramadhan is time for food hunting in Malaysia. For holiday must refer to weather update as there are optimum time to visit. Whether it is east coast, west coast or Borneo islands.

Ramadan in Malaysia is where the vast majority of Malays do what they do best, avoid work and sleep. They just put a little more effort in to that. They claim they're fasting but sneak off to snack and drink and when sunset arrives, pig out and waste food in ways you wouldn't believe possible. They're also partial to a spot of alcohol. During Ramadan, most put in a fair bit of weight due to their increased food intake and reduced work ethic. During the two week Chinese New Year period pretty much all business shuts down and this requires planning to ensure what you need to do any real work. When the month long Ramadan period take place it makes no difference because of how little the Malays do for the rest of the year.
