This episode made me want Hela back even more so. So much potential never explored in the MCU proper timeline never explored. Like how we were given more depth of her character and see another side of Odin we only heard about in Ragnarok.

My one big complaint about this episode is that it instilled in me a hope for something that will never happen, and that is a live-action romantic film with Cate Blanchett and Tony Leung 😩

It was a really good episode, and it show us how underrated shang chi is. You could easily make a one and a half hour movie with this story in live action or animation.

We are getting absolutely spoiled as fans with this season! This episode did what I thought was impossible and took 2 of my favorite villains in the MCU and turn them into 2 of my favorite heroes. Cate Blanchett absolutely KILLED it with this performance. I love that we saw that Hela wasn’t always a murder happy psychopath and instead a woman we as made into a weapon by her war mongering father. And I love that Wenwu was inspired by Hela to go from being a conqueror to a liberator!

2:16 i think something people don't know that all asgardians are born with an allspeak tongue I presume that enabled them to speak and understand all languages, it is the case in the comics so I think same can be applied to the MCU

My guess is Hela might have gone the sad daughter method(begging him to not do it) to stop Odin from harming her. Here, she went even more aggressive, so Odin was steered just a little bit over the line, leading him to depower her. After all, Hela's thirst for violence was a result of Odin's doing, so he did not act upon stripping her of that power until she targetted him with it. The same thing happened with Thor. He snapped at Odin, leading Odin to realise what he has become, and strip Thor of his power to let him learn.

This ship could actually sail. Wenwu being long lived from the rings can keep up with asgardian's age. And with hela the white as the queen of asgard, they'll be unstoppable.

That was not Michelle Yeoh's character (she wouldn't be alive yet). The character in this episode, Jiayi, was voiced by Lauren Tom. Who Jaby would recognize as Ross' girlfriend Julie in season two of _Friends_

Alright thanks for clarifying. I also thought that it was supposed to be Wen Wu's future wife, but I guess that makes sense that she and Michelle Yeoh's characters wouldn't be alive quite yet.

This episode was dope! The fight scene was epic and the last 3 episodes have stepped up

I love Thor 1 but honestly Hela's journey being banished is even better.

Seeing Hela like this and becoming the goddess of life, much like Loki's redemption is epic. I need more of this and would love to see her back, working with others.

Kahhori and Hela definitely have the best episodes of the season so far

Top tier episode which got me thinking, what if the 10 rings are from a tenth realm 🤔 where in the comics it’s called Heven where Thor has a sister.

I’d love to see Angela

This was actually my favorite episode so far and her transformation almost got me in the feel just like when I watch Dragonball Z episodes and characters reach a new level of development. Hela had me cracking up the whole time, but it makes sense that she was probably more herself away from Odin and Asgard. She was around people that she didn't have to act a certain way all the time and expected something more of her than just being a weapon of destruction. I'd love to see more of this story and the possibility that it could even trickle over into the multiverse if the Infinity Stones came into play. "Multiversal Peace in Our Time" - What If...The Guardians of the Cosmos Freed the Multiverse? (Hela Goddess of Life, Mandarin, Thanos, Ultron [one that cherished life, a good Kang and Arse Lord [the flying butt angel])😁 Enjoyed the reaction and looking forward to the next one. 👍👍✌ out

If disney/marvel just make good stories, it does not matter if the hero is not a man, they can be anyone they want to be as long as it is a good story, good writing, good character arc, and compelling characters. What if S2 is showing they can still make good superhero stories, i just hope they learn the right things... LOL

Who would've thought that Marvel: WHAT IF? Would be one of the best super hero things out in 2023 easily makes my top 5 of this year, this episode was amazing.

Odin is not a Noob like shown in episode lol. Bad script to make the protagonist win.

I hope we get to see Hela again in another MCU movie. Even if it's a variant like the Hela from this episode (a good one but still funny and badass).

This episode was very surprising to me, when Kahhori in the last episode asked everyone to help her fight and the they said no, I knew they would end up joining her, so this entire episode I watched, waiting for Hela to drop the "hammer" and betray the woman who trained her and take the ten rings.... But that was not at all what happened, good job Marvel writers!!!

One thing I miss is we never saw Hela as the ruler of Hel torturing the souls as the Nordic myths and marvel tell us. If they placed Hela there she would have way more longevity as a villain through several films whenever someone died, ended up there and the heroes had to rescue/ negotiate with her. One and done should be for minor villains, the big ones we want to see through several films like they did with Loki.

The dates doesnt add up, Xu Wenwu got rings for 1000 years, thor at the same time was 1,500 years old, means when Xu Wenwu got rings , thor was already born at probably grown up about +- 500 years, at that age he would actually know about hella and episode says that frigg is not even a wife yet.

This is WHAT IF? so Wenwu could have gotten the rings earlier or Thor wasn't born yet since you notice that she had a hammer like Mjolnir instead of Thor meaning the war to unite the 9 Realms might have taken longer than in prime MCU

What if episodes doesnt just remove parts from history of mcu, they just take some point in the story where plotline goes sideways and shows how everything happens in the story from that point. What you are saying that in this episode they had to change 3-4 points in time and didn't show or mention the changes.

I really enjoyed this episode quite a bit! It mixes completely different sides of the MCU together, and a lot of really cool stuff came out of this episode. My highlights of this episode were the action and especially the final fight because that was really cool and well done! Props to the animators, and although not my favorite episode of the season, I still thought I was really good! 7/10!

For me by far the best episode.

Now this is a setting I’d love a sequel for! 🙂 I think Jaby is slightly off when he said there would be no conflict to explore afterwards this episode, it just opens the door to all sorts of other conflicts they encounter on their new journies such as the clip of their fight against Thanos at the end, and possibly internal conflicts with others in the Asgardian family like Thor and Loki whose own trajectories would be significantly altered as well. (Now that I think about it, “what if a Thor or Loki who coveted the crown reformed the shattered Mjolnir and threatened Raganarok?” could be a neat story!) P.S. Nothing makes Odin look like a bad guy more than picking on cute puppy Fenris. 🐶 If he had ever seen John Wick or Guardians of the Galaxy 3 he’d know never to mess with cute animals.

This episode was the one I was really looking forward to, and even if it concluded in a very constricted way, like the other episodes, it still blew me away ! Shang Chi was one of my favorite movies of the entire MCU, and I was dying to see more of this universe, and seeing it being brought back here in full Kung Fu Panda regalia was just a pure delight ! Just a tad bit sad that Wen Wu looked and sounded nothing like Tony Leung (he looked like captain Li Shang from Mulan with Jackie Chan's voice), but other than that little nitpick, it was one of the superior episodes of this season, which is already so much better than the first one ! I love that no matter the universe, Wen Wu is always a sucker for women stronger than him ^^. Who would have thought that We would get to see a mix between Thor 1, Ragnarok, KungFu Panda, Shang Chi and LOTR in a single 30 minutes episode ! Once again, I wish it would have been a whole feature movie.

@@snowshock8958 not quite. It certainly borrows some elements of a wuxia movie, but it's more of a hodgepodge of kungfu, wuxia, fantasy, and superhero movie all-in-one. It's basically Hollywood's best hommage to HK cinema.

The way she strategically used Wenwu's attraction to her validates the theory that Hela is Loki's biological mother in the main timeline. Laufey had an army and Odin hated him. If she was mad at her dad, an alliance with Jotenheim would be the logical choice...

If you’re going by how similar they are. It shows more the theory that Loki read Odin’s mind when they first met and became a boy version of Hela (straight up copied when it comes to Sylvie).

@@jinxie712 I never considered that possibility, that he was specifically copying Hela from Odin's mind... Mind reading isn't part of Loki's normal power set, and that wouldn't explain why Hela and Sylvie don't look alike... I always thought (assuming the Hela/Laufey theory's wrong) that baby Loki was just instinctively copying the person in front of him in that moment, like imprinting, as a survival mechanism to fit in and get accepted by his adoptive tribe. That would explain how variants like Sylvie and Boastful Loki could look different, if they were first found by individuals other than Odin. There's also a theory that Odin was causing it, casting some kind of spell on the baby when he decided to keep him, which would explain why Loki didn't revert to a Frost Giant when he entered the TVA, implying Odin's power trumps that of the TVA's magic dampeners, but Loki's sorcery doesn't. Personally, I prefer the explanation that Loki's Asgardian traits are because he's half Asgardian, but any of these could be true. We'll have to wait and see.

If it was a male you wouldn’t have said what you are saying now. I am so fucking disappointed that people like you still exist who declares a film/series woke just because a woman is the main character. She hulk and Captain Marvel were trash not because the protagonist was a female but because the writing was bad. It is the opposite in this episode. The writing was good
