The actor playing Tony seems to be doing just that. He's not trying to be RDJ he's doing Tony Stark and I think he's doing a good job.

I believe he's been the voice actor for Tony Stark/Iron Man since Disney purchased for all animated projects.

Nah, why was that one of my favorite uses of Tony Stark as a character? He really felt like a transformed hero in this one. This episode has some of my favorite Tony Stark moments now.

I mean he was already a hero to begin with. He's just repeating what he went through to earn that title and help Gamora become who she wants to be

I feel like season 2 is less dark, and more “holiday season fun”.

This episode was actually from season one, but they cut it. That's why they repacked it as a flashback, because it was supposed to air before the finale. That's why this episode felt like it didn't fit with the previous three this season

I've heard this one got delayed simply because they didn't get enough time to finish it. And you could tell why, it's definitely a bigger budget one, with lot of big Mad Max Fury road vibes. Now it would have been awesome to see it in s1 and have at least one episode where Tony not only didn't die, but also was the endearing hero we remember him to be.

This is how Tony became friends with Gamora, Korg and Valkyrie fight against the Grandmaster. Best episode ever 😊

Fun fact: this episode was supposed to come out in season 1 before the episode where Tony and Gamora put Thanos's Gauntlet in the fire/lava, but they couldn't complete it in time.

There we go! This is an episode we were supposed to get in season 1.

Mad Max meets Gladiator set in the MCU, I dare you to think about that without smiling ear to ear. And while I wish we had RDJ and Zoe Saldaña back as Tony Stark and Gamora, I honestly think that Mick Wingert and Cynthia McWilliams absolutely lived knocked it outta the park.

Ben-Hur meets Death Race with a little bit of the live action Speed-Racer thrown in. Love it.

not gonna say that was my favorite episode but it was pretty awesome. I'm a sucker for good high stakes car races. Looks like Tony's time in Monaco prepared him for this Death Race. lol. But fr this made me miss Tony. The guy who voices Tony in this may not be Robert Downey Jr. but he definitely has his mannerisms and personality down pretty good. It was so refreshing seeing Tony do some cool Iron Man stuff again. Like that Iron Man car? THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!! It also reminded me of Thor: Ragnarok of course but swapped out with Tony instead. Makes for an interesting What If scenario LITERALLY. If this Death Race was in Thor: Ragnarok i think Ragnarok would've been the most bad ass Thor Movie EVER. Not that it isn't great it's just THAT would've been crazy to see. I do wish Josh Brolin got more time as Thanos tho. I wish that scene would've been dragged out a little bit. That was Tony facing his "Curse" early. Would've made for an interesting conversation and the tension would've been crazy. Pretty sure that Thanos at that time wasn't in his messiah personality yet. Of course he has the idea to wipe out half of all life but he's still in his warlord phase hence how timeline wise Thanos tells Ronan "I will bathe the starways in your blood" just 2 years later. Other than that Fire Episode!!!!! Also i can't be the only one that was hoping Tony and Gamora was gonna interact in Infinity War and was kinda disappointed when it didn't happen. So it's cool to see it here. Tony has a rocky relationship with his dad and so does Gamora. Although two completely different dads. One being just a hardhead and the other one...well....evil but you get my point

This made me miss Tony so much!

Love the combination of characters this season.

I know Jaby has his gripe with some of these episodes but I’m definitely enjoying it a lot more than season one and some of the recent MCU projects as of late. Can’t wait for next episode

Idk, I liked the season 1 more, it had a better structure and better overall story. Season 2 is just mediocre .

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Anyway. I thought this one was really interesting. Getting the first Stark-led story since Endgame was great, and I didn’t expect Grandmaster, Valkyrie, and Gamora to make such good character foils to him. That said the pacing was like a kid on crack. Man I wish these episodes had more time to breathe.

Remember that thanos himself said that nebula by herself almost killed him. Gamora paired with a device that just needs to graze you. I buy it.

I keep hearing comparisons to Star Wars Episode 1 or Mariokart for the race scenes, but it felt more like the live action Speed Racer to me. Particularly with the weapon vehicles.

Why Disney can't just make a 2 hours version of this?

The real reason is that they are scared it won't perform like live action movies. When Into the Spiderverse came out I heard a ton of Marvel fans saying they didn't want to see it because it was animated and "for kids'

Mad Max meets Mario Kart meets Speed Racer meets Marvel!!

This episode can be a template for an easy franchise right here, maybe build it up with a comic book series and then make a game and Hot wheels toys, Mario kart is wildly popular and this makes more sense than Disney princesses version they tried to make.

Jaby's bad takes not withstanding, this was a fun episode and the voice actor playing Tony Stark felt like he was the character and not trying to be RDJ.

@MarleyMarr2008 It's not a bad take. This episode was good, but it comes off as a good episode from season 01, rather than living up to the first three episodes of this second season, if that makes sense.

Still catching up to these, for me so far, it's episode 1 for story, episode 4 just for the laughs, then episode 2, with the 80's avengers, didn't quite enjoy it as much as Jaby did, but that's probably because I was taken out of the episode a little bit at the fact that Pym didn't notice half of his stuff missing that Hope took, no security guards on an intergalactic problem, plus I feel like even though she's a kid, she should have went to prison for that jail break lol, really not entirely sure why I didn't enjoy the third episode as much, I think that one just felt more like a joke episode to me, like a bonus episode just for fun, really enjoyed Kat Dennings in the MCU, animated or not. ( Also thought the word play sounded like something RDJ would come up with or writers for his movies) If you read this far, what is your favorite episodes and why?

The What If? comics were a mixture of serious and fun stories, so it's on-brand, but yeah, not a very engaging episode.

Why are we doing this? Because FUN, that's why! Can't you just enjoy a good time for what is, instead of always going on about stakes and story beat purposes? Jesus ... I bet you can't even eat a steak without having to learn the whole history of the farm and the lineage of the cow first and then asking why you eat it ... what does it all lead to? Come on, man! 😄

Season 2 in my opinion hasn't been very original. Ep 1 was very Dredd/Demolition Man. Holiday ep was Die Hard. 5 was Winter Soldier/Black Widow.

I wish matvel would take bit of a break from live-action movies and make more animated films with this style with a bigger budget and great writing team.

I love Jaby’s terrible taste & critical perspectives of things and non critical critiques of others. It really makes me just enjoy the reaction if I just leave before his review bcus he’ll just say “thats was… a project, heheheh im a dick” loooool

so far: glad i decided to skip this season. as boring as the first so far. outside of the dr. strange ep, cant think of anything from season one that was interesting STORY wise. ultron's eps were good VISUALLY. so far: cute concept of 80s avengers but animated mcu is still mcu with the all the same problems. meh. no faith in them doing 1602 justice
