You can watch how Callum got on in his first Caterham race here! 👉 • My FIRST Car Race! Cat...
THIS is grass-karting and it's one of the CHEAPEST motorsports in the world. These are 60-horsepower karts racing on a tight dirt track in the middle of a field.
We’ll be racing in slower karts in separate races to see who performs the best. The winner gets a go in one of the ‘scary’ karts.
These karts are MENTAL, running CBR 125 Honda four-stroke engines, five-speed sequential gearboxes and almost no weight!

Right is like you got the footage so a 20-30 min video is fine. Back in the day 5-10min was a decent video as this was basically a longer version of tik tok. Now days this is people main form of entertainment even over televison which we were used to watching 30 to hour long shows.

Cool! I was racing a Suzuki RM250, 2 stroke kart for many years in New Zealand. It was an older motor, but still had around 45Hp. A tricky electronic ignition with a flat shift gear linkage ensured it was very quick through the 'box. Our karts and family values were the same as UK and I KNOW how much fun this sport is. Glad you guys enjoyed it!

You guys should try the 24-hours of lemons you take a $500 and under car and race it. It s an American sport though you would probably have to get a car and ship it to the US or get a car in the US and build it there the only non $500 parts are the safety components like roll cages seats and other things the car itself including mechanical modifications and physical modifications again not including safety is $500 and under. It's a pretty fun sport if you have two days and a cheap car also the car can be anything except motorcycles and go-karts you can have a pickup truck a hatchback, station wagon a convertible literally you can have anyting that has four wheels
UK gets all the best racing stuff. Trying to find something similar to this, the lawnmowers, caterham, in the US/Canada is a nightmare. If there is anything its much more expensive and requires A LOT of travel :(
@jonathanlochridge9462
Жыл бұрын
Well, for something like this, all you really need are go-karts, a field, and a date. And also one of those liability waivers for people to sign. Athough, buying a go-kart isn't super cheap. Considering how much places with a track charge for rentals. The cost reduction for just doing it in a field would probably be significant. If you live in a small town, setting something like this up probably wouldn't be too hard.
@MsStassie
Жыл бұрын
theres no way its easier to do this in the uk than in the north america, you could buy a couple acres somewhere for 10k and even make your own dirt track, in the uk it would be a fortune.

I've seen some folks in Canada that just rally street cars in a field. You just probably need some good Waivers and to own the land... I wonder what neighbors would think, so more remote the better
nice, around the world, dirt karts are the cheapest option to start in racing. cheers from Argentina
0:35 That wheelspin had me dying! 😂😂🤣🤣
Don't think I've ever been that excited watching any race, that seemed class
fun fact: a ford ka has 60 hp. a ford ka weights like 800 kg. Those karts are beasts
THE BIG BASS SOUNDTRACK!!
you guys are rolling out so many videos it’s anazing
That looks like so much fun. Some more footage of the racing and Scott's last run would be better imo. It could even be a standalone upload for people who like watching wheels and engines go in circles.

I've had more fun kart racing than in a 600hp Porsche. The tighter the margins the more competitive, the more fun.
The Banger racing of karting 😢 is this where all the old 2 stroke rotax engines and Tony Kart chassis’s go to die . 😂😜😵💫. No matter how cheap you think karting is just add £500 to a grand a weekend and you won’t be far off ( from experience) .

For road racing, yes. I'm 32 miles away from the field and budget £50 for a meeting all in.
My back hurts just from watching ^^. A bit of suspension would be good.

Callum in a busch light hat? With that garb if i ran into him here in Iowa I'd think he's a local!
I’m surprised that there is a league for this but at the same time I’m not. Motorsport is crazy 😂
Having horsepower is one thing, getting it on the ground is something else entirely. Just ask the 500HP street drag racers that beat 800HP cars in bumpy public roads.
Totally into the background music.

60 HP is high but not impossible out of a 250 2 stroke, would require very agressive porting that would make it all top end however. Also depends if you count crank or wheel horsepower i suppose, before transmission losses 60hp is pretty reasonable.
I just love this channel

Fun video again. Thanks.
Grass karting is so fun :)
Seems like proper fun.
I think it probably is the cheapest, it’s definitely the cheapest motorsport I’ve done by an absolute mile. I bought by kart (cbr125) for £700 I think fully built ready to race , used it for 3 seasons at all 3 clubs ,sold it for £300. And it had won plenty of races. I really don’t know why it’s not a bigger sport . Took my daughter to Wisbech last week to watch the c70s she wants ago , thought they could start at 5 tho not 7 😆.
There needs to be a race of the top 10 Formula 1 racers on those 60hp carts!
I've wanted to try my hand at racing and for that kinda price. I already have a van so that's sorted and I've just looked up my nearest course and it's this exact one, 30 minutes from me
That loks so fun!!!
That looked great fun

Callum does properly look like an American farmer.
I think the 75. There's a lot of modern electronics in there that will fail and will be awkward to fix. Plus it's good money to help fix one of your others.
The CR250 engines aren’t cheap. The 300 dollar kart had a 4 stroke motor with gears and clutch? Was it a motorcycle engine?
@Team_Extreme_Grass_Cutting
Жыл бұрын
The four stroke one they start on is a Honda Cbr 125. I had a quick look on ebay last night due to various comments saying it was impossible to do that cheap. Found an Engine for £250, Chassis rolling for £165. Just required back bar making and a radiator.
So cool to see Scott's racing experience on the field
Amazing fun 😂
as an American I appreciate Callum's Kevin Harvick hat! haha!
Yeah once I went carting too. With my company and real race carts. Mine kept dieing and after 3 stints I couldn't be bothered anymore to go for another spin. They are real fun when they work... But they usually always brake.

Unfortunately that's joys of motorsport. Can guarantee anything that can go wrong will go wrong on the day that you want it to run smoothly. Frustrating but that's sometimes the way it goes.
