Well, we failed this mission…big time.
Our goal was to check out the west coast of Florida for the first time, but we greatly underestimated how hard it would be to get into these resorts because of how popular the west coast beaches are and because many of these RV parks are 55 and older. Looking for a place to stay here reminded us a lot of Arizona where most parks are 55 and older, as well.
After a quick stop at Camp Venice, we landed in Ocala, Florida, at Champion’s Run RV Park to connect with friends and enjoy some concrete to wash the truck and bonus: full hookups! Big RV family dinners are our favorite! And you guys know we are always up for a seRV event!
Trying our luck with the panhandle, we headed to Destin and stayed a few nights at Henderson Beach State Park. The beaches in Destin were so spectacular that they changed Lily’s opinion of her most favorite place we have ever visited!
Quick note about Henderson and many other state parks for that matter - watch out for the hidden fees! The website states that sites are $30/night but after fees and taxes, the total per night came to $44, so for the 4 nights we stayed, it was $60 more than we had originally planned.
Both of us have history in Pensacola and were excited to go back and share not only with the girls but with each other! Our first stop was the Blue Angels Recreation Area Campground and our first opportunity to see the Blue Angels in action. Too bad we were late to the game and never made it to the airfield.
For more information about the training schedule for the Blue Angels, you can go here: www.visitpensacola.com/things... We also found this facebook page with daily updates on cancelations and parking that was very helpful: BlueAngelsPr...
Stay tuned for next week as Corey shows the girls where he went to A School in the Navy, and Jess remembers her dad in a special way! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new videos!

As a USAF firefighter we always had a front row seat for the practices and show for both the TBirds and Blue Angels. We also trained every year on firefighting and rescue of both birds. For my re- enlistment the commander of the TBirds gave us our oath in 1985 in Alaska. Out of all the times I’ve seen both teams fly the Blue Angles always put on a better show.

Being from the west coast of Florida, a little tip is that even if the website says 55+, they will allow younger to stay for a few nights. Always call and check. Don’t just go by the website.

Many years ago I lived in a high-rise apartment building in downtown Seattle, just 2 blocks from the waterfront. Seattle celebrates an annual event called "Sea Fair", runs for a week every August, at the peak of our gorgeous PNW summer. A large portion of the Navy's Pacific fleet comes ashore for that week and dock in ports from Olympia to Bellingham, so almost every town and city on Puget Sound is swarming with sailors on shore leave. The highlight of the festival are the hydroplane races on Lake Washington and several performances over the lake by The Blue Angels. The planes take off and land from Boeing Field, just a few miles south of downtown Seattle and make practice flights every day for several days ahead of their performance, and a lot of their flights place them flying very low over Elliot Bay, buzzing the waterfront of downtown. My apartment had a small slice of water view and from my living room windows I could watch the planes flying by, often so closely that I could see the pilots in their cockpits. I lived there for over 11 years and seeing The Blue Angels every summer was the peak of every summer for me. They are just so incredibly beautiful, so sleek, so powerful, the blue of the planes against the deep blue of the PNW summer sky...they take my breathe away, every single time.

My family visited Ft. Walton beach and Pensacola area every year growing up, my idea of a beach is WHITE sand. Now living in C. FL going to East coast beaches is like dirty brown river sand. I just can't do it ! I love the Gulf coast line's white sand, but at Destin, the snow is crystal white like snow !..THANK YOU for bringing back some great memories sharing.

It's nice to know that even RVers who travel as much as you do have new things to learn about new places! Yes, sometimes there are just special quirks about places. So fun to see the Blue Angels. Years ago when I still lived in southern CA, my condo was very close to a major Marine Air Base. When they were practicing they would actually fly just barely above roof level! I could see the pilot GRINNING.

Sarasota has Siesta Key Beach, which is one of the top rated beaches in the country with white sand. There is Capersen Beach in Venice, which you can find fossilized sharks teeth. We are heading down this weekend and are staying at Oscar Scherer.

THE SOUND OF FREEDOM!! I didn't hear you say what you're ties where there other than going to school in Pensacola. I did catch in a previous video a picture of you by the SRBOC launchers on the Cruiser you were stationed on. Can only guess you where an EW (Electronic Warfare Operator or Tech for those not familiar). I retired as an EWCS(SW) in 2006. Was at Corry Station in 80'-81' for "A" school then back in 84'-85' for Tech school and back again as SLQ-32(V)3 instructor from 89'-91'. Did tours on 6 different ships on both coasts including one on the Valley Forge, CG-50 out of San Diego. By far my favorite. If your ever back up in the Pacific Northwest I'd love to show you around the Kitsap Peninsula and all of the camping we have to offer.

What a bummer that y'all got stuck in line and were missing the flights! We had the Blue Angels practicing at JRB Carswell in Fort Worth last month. They were flying over the west side of Fort Worth most of the day. I have a corner office with one window facing south looking at I-30, and they were flying in precision formations just south of the freeway. It was breathtaking. They were still flying right past my window during rush hour (if you can imagine). We were waiting for the "screeeeeech BANG" from a distracted driver rear-ending another vehicle because they were too busy watching the show. Fortunately, nothing happened. The runs were spectacular, just the same. We didn't get a lot of work done that day. 😅

Oh my goodness you were camping about 5 miles from my veterinary clinic in Pensacola. The Blues buzz our clinic almost every Tuesday and Wednesday when they are in town. I wish I had known y'all were here! I hope you had a great visit! LOVE our Blues!!!!

Your footage of the Blue Angels was spectacular....great job. Living in the Seacoast of New Hampshire I love when any of them come to Pease and when they practice they will fly straight down Spaulding Turnpike and scare the crap out of you and it is wonderful. I am an Air Force brat so we had many many air shows to attend as I was growing up but it was usually the Thunderbirds. The noise is earth shattering almost. Thanks

That is so cool watching them practice. We have stayed in Pensacola twice, but we have never been lucky enough to see them practicing.

When you get back to the panhandle, try to get into Grayton Beach State Park. Also, Topsail Hill State Park is also very nice. Enjoyed the video-thanks.

The Blue Angels are awesome. I’ve seen them 4 times at air shows. Most recently in Goldsboro NC. We had a 3 hour traffic jam to get in. I watched the first hour of the air show from the side of the car on the road! Finally got in just in time for the Blue Angels. I’ve been to Pensacola once, didn’t see the Blue Angels that day but toured the museum. Lots of cool stuff.

We love our Emerald Coast! We live an hour north of Pensacola. Our favorite nearby camoground is Fort Pickens. Since it is a National Seashore, we save $$ with our NP Senior Park Pass. The Blues are amazing!!!! Glad you got to see them

So cool! We will be camping Ft. Pickens in November for their "Homecoming Show." Here in Colorado Springs we'll get to see the Thunderbirds May 30 for AFA graduation. So great to see both teams in the same year! We were in Destin 2 years ago and the sand and water is so gorgeous!

Henderson Beach State Park is awesome. We were down there about three or four years ago. Great accommodations great campgrounds . Cory don’t do what my friend did and tried to fish off of the innertube. You might end up in Mexico.

My father flew F6Fs out of Pensacola in the late 40's. Of course I am a major Blue Angles fan and will have to get down there for their practice sessions sometime. Thanks for the great video. Fly Navy!

We absolutely love the Emrald coast of Florida. We're in Texas so if we want a beach vacation that is where we go. We're RVers so we take our condo on wheels with us. We've stayed at Topsail in Destin, Ft. Pickens in Pensacola and at Gulf State Park when in Gulf Shores, AL. The last one we liked best for the beach access if you have bikes. It's also big rig friendly with shade, unlike Ft. Pickens. Safe travels.

The Blue Angels were here (Wichita Falls, Texas) to be part of the air show a few weeks ago. We live very close to the airbase so it was incredible getting to watch them practice and fly during the show (multiple days). They flew so low over and near our house that we could see the details of the jets. It is so exhilarating.
