This theme really is a big slap in the face to everyone who thought that ZUN "lost his touch". Idolatrize World truly makes for a fantastic final battle theme and one of ZUN's best compositions of all time. Also, it reached 4th in the 2020 Touhou Popularity Poll, over classics like Necrofantasia, Pure Furies and Border of Life. People really loved it, and I'm glad.

I'd respectfully suggest giving up on picking a single "favorite" theme. In my experience, that way lies madness. 😅

i absolutely love the trope of "the enemy is actually fighting for what's right, even if they were lied to or go overboard"

ZUN really knocked it out of the park with Keiki's design. Her outfit in combination with her hair color is so appealing to the eye.

You know, it's a big deal for the boss when they have 'Theme of Eastern Story' as part of their theme. However, in Keiki's case, it's meant to emphasize that she is not the enemy. Basically, her theme is her trying to save you. In her own way, that is.

Not that I'd ally with her, anyway. It's the way she does it that's a deal-breaker for me. Not that I'd want to get involved with a political dispute that I really shouldn't have any say in in the first place. And since I don't quite get what would be "good" for the animal realm... I certainly don't want a say in it either.

The opening, the piano runs, EVERYTHING. I am still in love with this theme and the main melody is never gonna get old. Somthing about the way ZUN develops the melodies in this one, and then ties it back to ToES is amazing to me. Also them ZUNPETS ARE AMAZING

Imagine being a Okina: 1/ Junko and Keiki both place around 30rd spot while she's chilling at 43. 2/ Their themes are in top 5 (5 and 4, respectively) 3/ The game their debut is more famous than HSiFS (6, 7 and 14, respectively - and the rank is decreasing) 4/ They're basically the same, being the Final Bosses of their game, yet the outcome is so different. Edit: they also play a major role in Touhouver, and have a godlike power that can change how Gensokyo works forever if they really want. Yep, being a Okina is suffering.

I guess because Okina didn't show up much or try to make herself unique (Junko 2.0 jokes ...) in her game despite of being one of the most important figures of Gensokyo. If we don't read the side stories like WaHH, Okina just kinda forgettable.

@@malheurgerard4228 Only her blonde hair, orange colors and flames didn't make her stand out from Junko, but other than that she's fairly unique both in personality and overall design (I mean, Junko doesn't have that manly posture that Okina has in stage 6), not holding any grudge towards anyone and seeing the worth in anyone who shows the slight sign of boldness and smartness. Meanwhile, Keiki's involvement within the incident is much like Junko's : build up a plan to make it so that the enemy can't do shit, the enemy causes an incident within Gensokyo to bring the protags here and kick Keiki's or Junko's butt. Of course if we go in depth, the events between the two games have their differences, but overall they're pretty similar, or at least more similar than they are to the Four Seasons incident.

It's a bit odd to me because honestly I enjoyed Hidden star so much more than Wily Beast. And Okina herself is honestly a lot more Yukari than she's Junko if one was paying any attention!

@@drascin She's a manly version of Yukari, somewhat. Her door transportation thing isn't as efficient as Yukari... But at least her life and mental energy abilities have a nice potential. That very ability is essetially Junko-like because it gives a buff to someone.

ZUN's final boss themes just keep getting better. Pure Furies I once thought was the best, then Egotistic Flowers, now this. And still nobody dies and they just hang out afterwards. But it feels like the ultimate final battle of everything.

Did anyone order some spoilers? While Keiki is frequently compared with Shinki and Byakuren, the situation here is much different. Notice that her response to being called a god of destruction is just insisting that she has created many things. Not some rebuttal about trying to save the human spirits. In an interview with ZUN, he heavily implied that Keiki doesn't care about the fate of the human spirits. In fact, he compared her to an AI overlord, one whose every single suggestion is law. To really get the point across, he described the situation of the animal realm as "a dystopia fighting another dystopia". Lastly, when Marisa comes to visit the remnants of her capital only Mayumi greets her. There's plenty of evidence that Keiki is making things worse for both animal and human spirits.

Which begs the question about why Reimu saw an evil aura in Keiki. Also, Keiki greeted Marisa in the Eagle ending, where Marisa is wondering why the beasts were resentful towards her. Also Keiki wants Marisa as an ally, I smell competition with a Secret God. And at the same time, the human spirits want to be seen as materials according to what ZUN said in that interview...

Flandre's theme, in particular, was turned into the infamous Ronald McDonald Insanity shitpost and gained a lot of traction on KZread.

Fun Fact: In terms of the popularity poll Keiki is currently the highest ranked new character who is currently at 36th place. In terms of her theme. Also the highest at 4th place. But since Remilia and Flan exist she's pushed down, so if we don't include them. She's actually in 2nd place.. Hats off to Keiki for being one of the best final bosses ZUN has made. In terms of this Era and it's final bosses: 14: Pretty good, it fits really well 14.5: only fits for the final story 15: I love Junko so much and the theme is powerful. Barely anyway he could top that with 16. 15.5: Holy Shit, the Yorigami sisters hold a special place in my heart and are also amazing final bosses. They are almost tied with Junko. 16: I used to hate it but Akatsuki Records "Metamorphosis" made me love it. 17: Holy Shit. This screams survival of the fittest. Best final boss theme of this Era imo. She is one of those few final bosses who could be considered "perfect". For the most part anyways lol. There is no way he can top this with 17.5. If he does, I don't even know what to do...

I'm pretty sure that Junko's theme managed to take 3rd spot in 2018 *and* 2019; that means about the new theme stuff, Junko managed to beat Keiki. Also, poor Okina, imagine how you would feel when both the one before and after you are in the top 5 while you were chilling in the top 50. Edit: in terms of the debut, Junko is more successful than Keiki, both in theme song, game, and character spot. Edit 2: I made a mistake; Junko's theme is less successful than Keiki's debut, she's only got better later.

But then, if those two slap songs with a "new and fresh feeling" force attached to them cannot beat the Scarlet Sisters', nothing can. The nearest time neither of them took the throne was more than 10 years ago, and that says something.

Here it is, THE music. The music that captured everyones heart as soon as it started. And the boss fight is not any less gorgeous either. From the background changing to the musical timing of her spells, Keiki is a final boss worthy of being called perfect. And there is no other moment in Touhou that can match the animal spirits coming in to help you as the music reaches its climax and brings out *two* ZUNpets at once. Also a small note, this is the first final boss theme to include the full Theme of Eastern Story letimotif, possibly meaning that either Keiki is going to be REALLY important in the future or 17 will be turning point in Touhou.

@@User-gk1yi I mean like in terms of youtube views, since you know the easiest way to define which songs are the most popular ones is from their youtube view counts, popularity vote never proves the actual popularity since, it is in Japanese so most western fans are missing out on that, it doesn't even cover most of the fanbase and people who don't really care about the vote and there's also the type of people who just likes the music from some other games and don't even have an idea what touhou itself is just trying to say it is popular amongst the fanbase, but not so popular outside, well like some examples are un owen those songs are sooo overrated whether or not it's because of the mcdonald meme there is like a billion different un owen remixes each have 1m+ views

One thing i really love about Keiki's design is just, how vibrant she looks. Cyan, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red blend well together. Her and IN/IaMP Yuyuko have the most vibrant design (Edit: Chimata came in and said Hell Yeah Blue Rainbow Time)

It took a year but I finally understand why this is such an emotional song for me. It may be Keiki's theme, but it's not her point of view I see. She's not the one putting all the power behind each note. It doesn't feel at all like who Keiki is or what she portrays herself as. It's her followers. The Haniwa soldiers with Mayumi at the helm that this song comes from. It's an anthem of worship to Keiki for all she has done for them and most importantly, given them life. Each melody in the hymn is like a heartfelt thank you and a sworn oath of loyalty to protect and fight for her, no matter how hard it gets. And the cavalry coming in for her 5th spell speaks volumes of it. To them, she is a God and a mother they've placed their undying trust and love into. Something I can very clearly hear and even feel with each chill down my spine. It's like Mayumi put her strength from loyalty into the song with just how powerful an impact it has on me that makes me love it above all other songs in the series.

It was one of the best touhou fights i ever experienced,right when the song began,the background started going backwards,as the otter told Youmu to run away... That was freaking INSANE. the amazing atmosphere at that battle was so hard that i only didnt lose because i really wanted to keep going,then the otter reinforcements arrived,and i finally have won... Now THAT was the first time i could feel the final boss atmosphere.

So that's why the beast spirits claim that she's wicked, they saw exactly what kind of art she drew.

Keiki's definitely my favourite final boss in the series, I love the unique progression of her fight (running away, then going to the air, and finally getting backup to take her out), and her danmaku, while simple, is definitely some of my favourite that ZUN's made. Really goes to show how much I love WBAWC in general... Also, her theme. It was an instant fan favourite and I can definitely see why. It's got so much emotion rolled into one package - intense, peaceful and grandiose, all of which fit Keiki really well.

nah, she isn't really on the painting/drawing side of art. For sure would have an Instagram with pictures of thousands of life-like sculptures.

This is the theme that rivals Little Princess. Plus this is a pretty interesting version of Theme of Eastern Story so that also makes it really good.

Everything about this theme is godly

Your inner voice telling you to retreat and the stage starts going backwards at sonic speed while this theme plays makes this 100 times more epic.

When I first heard this, I really hated it for some reason. But after listening to it a few more times... I fell in love with this. It's amazing.

It's Buddhism, there's a lot of hells. Even our world is considered a hell.

Everything about this song is so good, and the setting and time it plays only adds to how much I love it. It's too early in the morning for me to say something specific I like about it, I just do

3:13 This part was the best for me and I kinda wish it lasted longer

My first battle with Keiki went like this: "Ah yes, a fantastic final boss theme starts. The difficulty of the game might be a bit lacking with those tons of spirits, and this boss doesn't seem too tricky so far too, but maybe it will have some twist. And then... the melody reaches it's climax. Here it is! The boss is gonna get really serious from now o..." *hundreds of animal spirits appear* "Oh... well at least the music is still awesome"

@@Bravidunno th 17 imo is just a story dump and an art dump rather than a gameplay-wise hard game. The only way to make it hard is to self-handicap yourself (no roarbreak or no hyper roar or smth).

Her attacks do get more serious after the spirits appear, but it doesn't really matter.

just the intro is enough to give me chills and make my eyes tear up. Yep, another final boss that the song is so awesome it makes it harder to defeat. ( RIP me crying while fighting sukuna back in DDC lol)

once again the trumpets reigned supreme, even with the new soundfont.

Keiki is best girl and you can never change my mind

It didnt take long for me to start listening to this theme non stop, final bosses themes have always been great, but this theme sounds so brave and full of courage, which makes it an excellent final battle theme. The building up of this theme is so excellently done, and the motif is so simple and catchy. This is certainly one of the best final boss of the entire saga in terms of music ALONE, and one of my favourites alongside the DLFR version of pure furies.

This has to be one of my favourites from the entire series! The highlights of the game are truly the greatest, with Keiki's fight, being one of the first moments from all the games that i'll remember from now on. But seriously, Keiki's battle has to be one of my favourite moments of any Touhou game, up there with Yuyuko's Resurrection Butterfly -30% Reflowering- and Forbidden Arcanum Hourai Elixir The start of the battle and the god-like music just made and still makes me hyped for the fight almost instantly ZUN just cranked the epicness switches onto overdrive mode for her fight!

I used to love Junko theme so much ... And then Keiki showed up

Keiki is definitely like me cuz I'm an artist too. uwu Also this song is a banger, definitely one of my favorites. Edit: Actually, I'm starting to grew up on Kaguya, Kanako, and Utsuho's theme over this. Plus, blame Junko and Keiki for setting the bar too high for Chimata's theme so shamefully it's not my Top 3 favorite final boss theme anymore, still a banger tho.

considering the fact that the incident in UM isn't really life-threatening, so it's understandable. but i think that doesn't make Chimata's theme less intense and emotional~

Here it is! My favorite track maybe in all of Touhou. The lead up to this boss alone was pretty crazy and that part at the end where the beast spirit starts sending power ups left and right just to keep you from getting murdered is easily one of my favorite moments in a Main series game. And Zun incorporating the main theme into the song says to me that Keiki was not the villain at all but instead someone trying to help.

I have been listening to this everyday for the past month or so, this is the best theme in Touhou

Just when you're thinking it can't possibly get any better, 2:27 comes in. I thought I would grow tired listening to WBaWCs tracks on repeat for so long, but no. Listening since release, and these only get better the more I hear them.

"All the old paintings on the tomb, they do the sand dance, don't you know..."

I'd like to think Keiki's ability is to not just create idols, but to create anything. This is the opposite of Flandre's ability, which shows how powerful it can be. This might be why she can fight all three beast leaders.

Question for all of you: would you entrust your world to idols? (We are presuming idols as in music stars) I sure wouldn’t. I only trust in those who have proven themselves capable of defending the world, such as Reimu and Marisa (much as the latter might annoy the living daylights out of me to no end).

Well, if idols are music stars then of course not. The entire question isn't really answerable without a presumption of what kind of idols we are having here. For example, if an idol in this case was some sort of great hero, then of course a lot of people would side with them. It all depends on who we are entrusting the world to. In Gensokyo's case, the saints and gods appear to be the main idols, so maybe. I say maybe because we all saw how HM went down, but if it is possible to avoid that, then it would probably work fine (just as long as Miko doesn't try to choke Byakuren and murder all youkai the second they get a chance)

I'm a nostalgic boomer so the old works can't be beaten in my heart since they've had more time to leave their mark, but Keiki's theme just punched the door and left a print on it. It really added to the epic danger feeling of running away from her and her Sculpture Arts in the game.

Found this song on an edit of the fight between RX-78-2 and Mecha Godzilla from ready player 1. Goes hard

Keiki technically Eika's sibling/older sister(?) if you think about it, since both of them 'came' from Izanami(Keiki is based on a god named Haniyasu, who was born from Izanami's shits when she died from Kagu-tsuchi, and Eika is based on a god named Ebisu, who was a stillborn born from Izanami) but she still manages to have one of the best final boss themes in touhou like holy shit that opening is so glorious

This is my second favourite song in all of Touhou. I absolutely love it, from the piano at the beginning, to the melody, to the ZUNpets. Everything is done phenomenally; even above the point that I expected. It radiates final boss energy, and really gives an extra layer of life to the fight. Glad the ZUN decided to *create* this masterpiece of a song. I honestly can't describe just how much I love it. My favourite song is still Septette, purely because it was the song that got me into Touhou in the first place.

so this has become my essay finishing song

It amazes me how much this song came in hard and take an easy 1st place for my favorite Touhou song. when I 1st became a fan 7 years ago nothing had beaten out emotional Skyscraper. But this, this is actually an emotional skyscraper. This song manages to move me to tears half the time.

2:03 *Haniwa : Idol creature* This part always reminds me of byakuren’s devil’s recitation spellcard lining up with the music. Absolutely glorious
