Would definitely like to see more like this. Something especially around “the pictures don’t do this justice.” Website photos and what this looks like on wrist is like buying a Cologne after smelling it on a tester strip as opposed to a full wearing.

I love the fact you mentioned the Mido. I got this watch for almost a year now and man does it hold up, especially in its grey variant. The finish is great, it feels heavy and well built, and you can really tell it’s worth just by the reactions I get off it, most people think it cost at least 5K. I can’t be more satisfied with it.

I got the Seiko 5 GMT (blueberry) just before last Christmas and the offer of a generous discount made it a no brainer. In daily wear, it's so comfortable and has received compliments, what has come as a surprise is that for such a bargain of a watch, it feels so classy to wear. I'd highly recommend one of these watches.

Acknowledging that you can't cover every watch brand, it seems an odd omission considering the company's history, depth of catalogue, and use of widely accepted SW movements...curious if there was reason I'm missing. They seem like another good option at the entry-level price points.

Casio is just amazing at everything. People think of Casio as gshocks and $20 "fun" watches. In a way, they have no business even putting something like the Oceanus series out. It's almost like an outlet for them to say "watch this". I don't own one, but every Oceanus watch I have ever seen, you could just stare at for days. I do however own a duro (mdv-106). When I got it 8 years ago, it was about $40 (I think they are around $47 now). The finishing and just presence of this $40 watch is really something special and makes you wonder how. I have other Casios and gshocks. The duro gets a ton of compliments and loves just about every strap you put it on. Not to mention, I have put this watch through just about everything for the time I've owned it, changed the battery once, and it's just such an amazing time keeping tool.

Happy to see the Tissot Gentleman on this list. Absolutely agree, the finishing on this watch is very good. The bracelet is pretty nice as well in my opinion but you're probably right about there being better ones out there

I went to buy a PRX and walked out with the Tissot Gentleman. It looks amazing especially the green dial and feels great on the wrist.

@@xhatjain I'd absolutely love a green dial Gentleman, if they ever released it without the sector lines. I don't understand why that's the only option considering they do blue with and without, but it's an aesthetic no-go for me.

I used to agree with you. The Gentleman was on the top of my list for a long time. But the bezel is unpolished, which means it will show every scratch in detail, such as on the PRC200 I currently wear. Also generally let down by the lume on Tissots - what’s your take on this?

Like the PRX, the Gentleman also has a lower priced quartz version which I believe is the same case and bracelet.

It's a great watch, versatile and very accurate for the price point. But for having one, that huge bezel without hard-coating is a scratch magnet, especially if it's your everyday watch. The lume is meh, but the dial and accuracy are very, very good. The side case looked brushed which has a different tone, pretty nice. Also, for one comment above, you can get black and silver with or without lines too. I got the silver one.

Being from Chicago, I definitely need to look at Astor & Banks. Nice to know high quality watches are being produced in Chicago.

Full disclosure: I am an admitted Seiko fanboy, and this list includes some really nice offerings from Seiko. I also liked the Orient and Milo, and couldn’t help but admire the 1970s throwback style Hamilton digital. I also owned a Bulova dive watch back in the late 1970s, and to this date it remains one of my all-time favorite watches. I don’t really think there is a right or wrong watch or list, as watch brands, styles and features are personal preferences. I enjoy these little video lists with Teddy, especially when I don’t have to listen to Kevin (Mr. not so wonderful) O’Leary flap his egotistical soup coolers constantly. Keep up the good work Teddy.

Teddy (or anyone else), do you have an opinion on the Spinnaker Cahill 300? I personally like the dial texture, but want to hear another perspective

You picked some great watches for this topic. I would also add Christopher Ward, especially with their latest release of the CW Trident 300 Pro. Case finish, bracelet and clasp are top notch.

Great video and great list. I have three watches from that catalog (1963, Kamasu and Lunar Pilot). In my personal opinion, I think you should have included Seiko's Save the ocean range, their dials are very nice, but it's just a subjective assessment, far from trying to criticize you.

I have a couple Seiko 5’s, a SPB147, a Zelos Mako V3 and others but I still love my Autodromo Group B the most. It’s an awesome watch that punches above its price point, for sure.
