In this video, I take the popular concept of the three-watch collection, combining a sport, dress, and casual or beater watch, to create a complete collection. Then, I'll apply the three-watch collection framework to six different price ranges from attainable to high horology. What do you think of my picks? Would any of you be able to check all your boxes with only three watches?

I didn't want to pay more than $500 per watch for my three watch watch collection. I got a Hamilton khaki king day/date on a ColaReb strap, a Junghans Max Bill, and a Lorier Neptune SIII. I'm very happy with them. This channel was very helpful in making my selections, so thanks for that!

Great taste. I love the Junghans Max Bill / Meister. Khaki field always pops in my mind as a nice watch. I didn't know the Lorier, but it looks amazing. Reminds me a bit of Oris Diver 65. Great collection. Enjoy.

I just bought the exact Cartier tank you mentioned, except it was the smaller version because it was a wedding gift for my wife who I married this past weekend. She cried when she opened the box. It was her first high-value watch. I'm so glad this timepiece will be part of our family and passed down over time. It's great to see you feature this watch here. I also did an unboxing on my page if anyone is interested!

@@drewsleyy3836 For me, I am not as sure that the Orient Bambino is ugly as much as a fatigued appearance. I value mine and find it to be be fun but think that its appeal has limitations. Though more expensive, an alternative at $945 is the Pitzmann First Edition, which is nicer than the Seiko SPB113. Unlike the Bambino, or at least Version 2, the hands are blued by heating and has an enamel dial. Definitely more expensive than the Bambino but even better value with a Sellita movement, but that dial and those hands scream intrigue.

Great video! Great ideas! My 3 watch collection is a Longines Avigation A7 1935 black dial. This is my conversation piece. My dress piece. With the cocked dial having 12 at 1 and being one of the only if not the only single button chrono(start, stop, reset all in 1 button) ever produced, a lot of people notice it. My sport watch is a Casio Pathfinder, my cheapest watch. It has a compass, Barometer, Thermometer, and Altimeter built into it as well as sunrise and sunset. It's a Casio G-shock on steroids that is solar charged so it never dies as long as there is light. My casual wear/beater is a GS Spring Drive SBGA413. I was looking to get a Rolex or Omega but screw Rolex right now and Omega was just too cliche. My AD started carrying GS and I saw this one and tried it on and it fit perfectly, had the perfect weight. The sweeping second hand is pretty nifty and the movement is really nice. My only gripe is it doesn't have lume but I wear it to work everyday in lit conditions so it's not like I am missing it. Thanks for sharing Teddy! Have a good one!

I have to say that the Longines Dolce Vita is a great dress watch with the sector dial and even has a date that blends well into the dial. The Seamaster 300M is another start performer. I have seen and do like the Ranger as for what you are getting for the price with the MT5402 chronometer movement is very good, I could be tempted at some point. Some watches that could be options in a few categories could be the Tudor BB 36 black dial and one of my favourites the Omega Constellation Globemeaster.

Great content Teddy. I used to wear a Timex Ironman for my beater but just changed to a Hamilton Khaki scuba. I got that on a bracket but swapped it for a Nato strap. I’ve a dress watch which is a Citizen eco drive which I’ve had for 8 yrs and not missed a beat. Recently purchased an Omega Railmaster( Seamaster co axil master chrono…yes that long winded title for a watch) on a nylon strap and am blown away with the quality. Being brushed stainless it doesn’t attract attention & I can wear where & when I want in UK. At moment in London and other cities the criminal elements have sussed what to look for in watches & robberies are common. Keep up the great work

❤️ great vid Teddy. My current under $1000 (in total) watch collection: 5600e g shock for outdoors and adventure, Hamilton pilot pioneer for everyday and a vintage 60s 35mm Enicar dress watch... the best of the lot is the Hamilton. Its slim, great finishing and dial, lovely accurate movement that's a joy to wind every few days.... just the perfect "one watch" if you needed only one... stunner It's a humble collection as I decided to sell my Omegas and IWC Mark 16 to keep things simple. But I'm sure I'll get something luxurious again some day...

Love these scenario videos, very fun thought exercises and way to consider collecting. For me, I think a G-Shock would end up in the casual/beater category in each tier, just moving up the G-Shock tier each time. To end with a $4k + MR-G as a “daily beater” is quite the thought.

I’ve had the watch virus for about 10 years now, and I started humbly with fashion watches like Guess collection, Police, Royal London and Rotary. All 3-500 bucks max. I had about 9 watches, and I loved them all. More recently I’ve gotten more deeply infected and have given away all my fashion watches (except my big Police) and have upgraded my game to a three watch collection, which will probably go to four. My dress watch is a stainless Cartier Tank, in the large Automatic edition called The Must. It’s on a stainless bracelet. Looks great on my 7.5 inch wrists. That said I wish it were thinner. I tend to roll my sleeves up when I wear it cuz otherwise it kind of gets caught. My sport watch is the Longines Hydro-Conquest in blue. I just loved the color and the boldness. I opted for the 43mm over the 41. I’m a big guy and I can “pull it off” without it looking too clunky (at least that’s what the salesman said.) and he had no dog in that hunt since either size was the same price. I confess that it’s a lower price substitute for a blue Seamaster 300, but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on a watch twice as expensive just yet. Besides recently, every time I buy myself a watch. my wife wants one too. 🙉 For my “beater” I own a Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Powermatic 80 in two tone. It was my 1st automatic watch and I love the way it looks. It can kind of stand in as my dress watch or go with me to the office (I’m a chiropractor) and is dressy enough to multitask but not take the place of my Longines dive watch, So I have a bit of cross functionality there. At this stage of my hobby, as a newbie, I’m kind of searching for a thread of meaning which I want to run through my collection endeavors, aside from just a hunger for more and more expensive pieces which I find alluring. I tend to stay away in principle from “unused capacity” in a watch, in the sense that as much as I love the way they look, I wouldn’t probably buy a Navitimer or a Longines Flyback. Not unless I’d plan to learn to use it! Something inside of me thinks it’s a waste of unused capacity! I feel the same about cars and sound equipment! Buy something you like within your use profile! Even if I could afford one I wouldn’t buy a Lamborghini since there’s no place to drive it! For me it’s about looks, and function, and reliability. I may go with independents some day, once I know more, and I fall in love with somebodies story. Love to hear some feedback on my thoughts.

My son wants to start a watch collection, so this is very helpful. His dress watch choice is the Sternglas Asthet White Dial, sports watch is the Seiko 5 GMT Orange Dial, but for a beater he wants the Laco Pilot Aachen, so all 3 for around $1400.

Great choices! I like a mix of “standards” and something unique or even avant-guarde. In the $15K category, I’ll start with a dress watch I already own, the Dubey & Schaldenbrand Vintage Caprice in rose gold. My sport watch would be the blue Omega Seamaster Diver 300M, and my “beater” would be the Louis Erard Le Semaine.

I am new to watch collecting, and have pretty well decided on my primary three. My choices reflect my taste, or lack thereof, as an engr. The beater is the Invicta Pro Diver. It's on the way, a Christmas gift from my oldest daughter. I put her on a $48 Amazon deal. The dresser is the Grand Seika Snowflake. I am presently looking for a deal on that. And the geek option that will see the least wear is the Niwa Lunokhod. I have that on order from their second batch, due for delivery by April. I already have a couple of decent quartz watches, but I will never buy another battery powered watch in the future.

I was just thinking of this topic when this video came up on my feed. I'm looking at a lesser expensive Seiko Presage that you talked about a while back. I tried it on and loved it. But there is also this great watch store in New York City that I walk past regularly and there is a Bucherer that looks almost exactly like the Seiko. At about 20x the price, way out of my price range. Only a fashionista would tell the difference but most other people wouldn't at a casual glance. But I thought if I could get it, I would still keep and love the Seiko. Not as a beater but simply because it's just more practical and sometimes, more appropriate, to wear a lesser expensive watch. Keep up the great work. I hope to purchase the Seiko from your website within the coming weeks.

Some awesome recommendations. Since I've already started a watch collections, it's too late to rethink that. My collection is very eclectic. I totally agree with some commenters here that you rarely need more than three watches in your possession. Mostly because you really need to give it a wrist time to truly appreciate and to build emotional connection with a time piece. My actual 3-watch collection (not counting g-shocks and 🍏) is: 1. Explorer - daily / do it all. 2. Santos medium - dress on a strap, sports on a bracelet. 3. Pelagos LHD - beater / summer.

Regardless of the budget I’d be putting around 50% on my daily driver. For some it would be a sports or a dress watch. It just depends on what you like and what you do for living. And splitting the remaining money between the other two watches.

Of my current collection (which is more than 3), I would make a 3WC with the following categories: casual, sport/diver, statement. I don't have a big need for a true dress watch, so it's not something I would wear very often. (I have a vintage Wakmann from my dad that I can wear if I wanted a traditional dress watch, at 34mm handwind) Casual: Farer Lander (on a faded orange barton canvas strap). Fun colors, super wearable. Sport/Diver: Sinn U50. tegimented case is ready to take on everything. Statement: Christopher Ward Bel Canto. I was lucky enough to get the original blue model, and I love it. It's such a unique piece of art, almost overshadowing the timepiece portion, since the time is actually fairly difficult to read at a glance. But who cares. It's gorgeous! DING!

Yema Superman Quartz (500), Tissot PRX (300), Omega seamaster Aquaterra Quartz. (1400) Preowned (never take the first hit) A 2200 collection. Do you have Rolex feelings? Go for Steinhart. Ocean 1 (400) and adventure (490 new). These are hommages yes. But they put Rolex to shame with the very high quality. That is a 5 watch collection for just a bit over 3000. Leaves some money for a cool watchbox too.

My three watch collection is really a two watch collection since two of my watches fills the same purpose: 1.Rolex Oyster perpetual 39 | 114300 white dial on oyster bracelet 2. Grand Seiko SBGA211 "Snowflake" on a leather strap 3. Omega Speedmaster cal. 3861 Sapphire I love white dials and prefer wearing white dials for pretty much every occasion, so I mostly alter between the Rolex and Grand Seiko. I love that I can switch between the two white dials, but keep things interesting for me because of having a leather strap on the Grand Seiko, and Bracelet on the OP. The Omega Speedmaster is my go to sporty watch

Hey teddy! Great video as always! Question, can we get a video aimed towards smaller automatics? Sub 35mm. Something for the smallest of wrist and/or women. Wide price range. There dont seem to be a lot of them available. So i feel one good video would do covering a variety of available styles and proce range of $100-$10,000. Thanks again Teddy, fantastic video as always!

Super fun video. I think in the 5000 category you have a good variety as well, looking at the dressing watches of Frederique Constant. Even that Longines is beautiful. In the unlimited category, the dressing category is a terrible "all you can eat" buffet. Your pick is spectacular. Then you have VC with the Historiques collection, or PP with the 5531 and the grand complication collection... well that is the good thing of not being in that category I guess hahah Again, great and fun video!

I would say Breguet 7337 for a dress watch with complications, Rolex GMT Master II left handed as an all-round (I’m a leftie) and an Omega Seamaster PO ceramic 39,5mm black as a beater. Love Breguet, and those baroque details. For Rollie - just a pop-culture watch, plus great that I’m left-handed. Omega PO - scratch resistant ceramic, perfect size, great movement and water resistance

Lol With all due respect, I thinkl watch categories should only be; Dress (classy dials, subdued straps), Casual (playful dials and catchy straps) and Adventure/Rugged (sports functions. multiple sub dials and pair-able with rubber straps).

i do really love watches. I remember falling in love with swatch watches and it's my first wrist watch ever (I cant remember how I got it or whether it's a legit swatch or a fake one LOL). Fast forward college (year 2001), I believe I owned a quartz Bulova dress watch which I use for everyday actually. Graduated college and started to work, I was really dreaming to own a TAG someday, and/or a mechanical watch. Had some Fossil and Timex watches. Fast forward 2022, I got my first swiss mechanical watch, a TAG Heuer Aquaracer chronograph (CAP2110.BA0833) black dial, fabric strap (black/yellow) and swapped this with a silicone. After a month, bought Tissot Seastar 39mm Powermatic 80 (ceramic). Browsing watches online out of boredom, I came across with this TAG Carrera Chronograph watch with blue dial and brown leather strap. With the price point which I cant currently afford, I have decided to look for an alternative and went for Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Sport Casual Brycen Weekender which is also in blue dial and dark brown leather strap and I love it. Fast forward 1 year, after watching Teddy's videos, had an opportunity to visit a watch store in Philadelphia Airport (5 days ago) while waiting for my flight home (yes, after the NE storms and flight delays and cancellations), and bought Hamilton Khaki Field H70515137 on a stainless steel strap. After few hours, I have decided to go back to check on MIDO watches. And since I am really looking for a blue dial watch on a stainless steel case with brown leather watch (A mechanical one), and with the 20% discount from the store, I have decided to get another watch, which is the MIDO Multifort Chronometer 1, Blue dial, stainless steel bracelet (decided to swap this on a brown leather strap- AND IT LOOKS STUNNING!). So currently here's my collection so far:(in summary): 1. TAG Aquaracer (CAP2110.BA0833) - usually my travel watch 2. Tissot Seastar 39mm Powermatic 80 - usually my go-to watch for casual events. 3. Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Sport Casual Brycen Weekender 4. Hamilton Khaki Field (H70515137) - this is now my everyday watch (replacing/ditching my Apple Watch series 6) 5. MIDO Multifort Chronometer 1 - with the blue dial and brown leather strap, this is my dress watch! Long term goal is to able to have A Rolex and Omega. And guess what, as I was watching Teddy's video about Seiko 5 GMT last night, with the price point, I have decided to add this to my collections as well (awaiting delivery). And now I am broke. LOL jk.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300m in blue on the blue rubber strap, the Forstner all brushed contemporary Flatlink bracelet, and just ordered the Omega OEM Stainless Mesh Bracelet. 2. Omega Speedmaster Chronoscope in the silver dial with red accents on the bracelet 3. Just ordered 2 days ago the Longines Spirit Zulu Time Green Bezel Gilt dial on the bracelet and will probably get the Artem black Loopless Sailcloth strap for it. I think that way I cover all occasions and have a chrono, a diver, and a GMT

I liked most of these collections, except the 25k. All solid watches on their own, but they don’t really compliment each other. 3 time-only watches, with very different feels, but I want my every day watch to have a date - don’t care about it on my dress watch (I want to wear that on occasions where I know the date). I think a reverso, Rolex gmt (assuming you can get it retail) and some bronze iwc (if they upped the water resistance) would be my dream 25k collection

Great content Teddy! Question for you. Last September (09/21) I purchased a 126333 two tone 41mm Datejust when I was picking up my 15200 34mm OPD from service at my AD. The 12633 Datejust was just sitting in the window and I couldn't resist. Upon purchase I asked to be added to the waitlist for a black submariner. At Christmas I popped in to say hello and dropped off Starbucks gift cards for the staff with thank you cards! I ended up buying a 124060 no date sub on my birthday (03/22) for close to 20k Canadian on the grey market and went into my AD to get it sized I felt this was my way of showing them I was REAL. I asked to be put on the list for a Starbucks sub as green is my favourite colour. I explained to my AD my eyes were green, the University I played and graduated division 1 lacrosse at was green (Wagner College 2019) and where I was just about to graduated professional school from (Nipissing University 2022) was also green. After watches and wonders I saw the release of the sprite GMT and fell in love. I went in the next day and purchased a green dial PRX Tissot automatic from my AD and asked to be switch from the Starbucks sub list to the sprite GMT. (My AD said it would be easier to get the sprite GMT over the Starbucks sub). About two months ago I walked in to pickup my 114270 explorer from service at my AD and I mentioned my girlfriend liked the 34mm pink OP. I stopped by my AD three weeks later as I was planing to buy jewelry for my girlfriends birthday but my AD offered the 34mm OP pink dial to me and I purchased it on the spot (09/22). A week after I purchased my girlfriend her OP I got jealous and Purchased a brand new SpeedMaster Professional from a boutique and went into my AD to have it sized and show him. My AD loves chronos and does not sell OMEGA as its a small 100 year old family owned jewelry shop (ONLY Rolex, Tudor, TISSOT, HAMILTON) Within the last 12 months Ive had two rolexes serviced through my Ad and purchased two Rolexes from my AD and a PRX automatic. My question is - Im 26 and a true watch guy. Ive been with my girlfriend forever and Im inevitably going to drop the bag at some point for a ring. I want want it to be a well thought out CALCULATED decision. Am I currently in standing position to get the sprite GMT or do you believe I have to spend more???? I wanted to wait to spend 30k on a ring for when I asked for a Daytona LOL! Thank you, DP Reply
