“All-in-one” watches tend to be my favorite style. It may not be logical, but I like having a collection of multiple “all-in-one” timepieces, as I’m often not a big fan of complications. I just love the beauty of relative simplicity.

@@GavOwenVideos I love omega but I do wish they thinned up their watches too. Some of them are tough to slide under a shit sleeve. I’d love to wear my diver 300m with a dress shirt but it’s so thick that I have to kinda fight with it to get my sleeve over it to tell the time and back over it so I don’t look like I’m incapable of dressing myself haha. I know they could do it, omega has swatch money. I think they could easily start to set trends. They have done a good job with the diver 300m, that consistency is smart, people like familiar. Hopefully they keep similar design language on their chronos (especially those incredible ceramic ones with the 9300/9900), aqua terra and planet ocean.

I've found since getting my Longines Flagship watch that I am having a hard time trying to get myself to wear any of my others in the collection. I'm retired now and never dress up, and this is definitely a simple, classic white dialed dress watch with alligator strap. I love it! It's thin, is proving to be very accurate, and strangely I don't find myself knocking the crystal or bezel against things as with my thicker watches. But I've got my Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic and the Khaki Navy Pioneer with Black Dial that are calling for me to wear the (especially the latter). Thinking I could have been happy simply collecting Hamilton and Longines watches.

It comes in a variety of sizes, has the epic quick switch strap system and the amazing easy link change system plus you get a steel and a leather bracelet in the price. Oh and they are generally available from stock. One other thing is they hold their value well and just one more thing the older and slightly battered they are the better looking they become.

The Ball Marvelight range of watches are a much overlooked option. Very good bracelets, tritium dials, 100m of water resistance and a choice of top grade ETA2842 or in house 80hr power reserve movement, some with chronometer certification. I would also include the quartz Grand Seiko watches which make excellent everyday watches and are usually slimmer than the spring drive watches. Finally, the Baume & Mercier Baumatic watches. Anti-magnetic, 120hr power reserve, only 50m water resistance but that is ok for normal swimming.

For me, it’s the new Seiko Alpinist “Ginza.” 38mm, Sapphire crystal, 200m water resistance with screw-down crown. With that unique dial, it balances the line between sporty and dressy, and all for just under $750.

My first nice watch is a Ball Fireman Racer. Wore it just about every single day for 5 years straight. From the office to the manufacturing floor, job interviews, wedding speeches, weekends and weeknights, driving my sports car on multiple racetracks, many nights winter camping in the snow at over 10k ft, even did a 30 mile ski crossing of the Teton range with it... It seems to look dressy, rugged, youthful, and refined all at the same time. It has been a superstar of versatility. I added a couple more to my collection for scuba diving and aviation for the specific functionality but the Ball is still the best expression of how I see myself.

Great video! All of these are fantastic choices. The one watch I would change is the Explorer. In my opinion the Date Just is a better only watch for under $10k. The move back to 36mm for the Explorer I believe hurts wearability for the more casual watch owner, which is probably someone who is more likely to own just one watch. I also believe if your going to own just one watch you will want a date function. Personally, that is what I would suggest to someone who just wants one watch in that price bracket. Having said all of that I was given the choice in 2019 of either a 39mm Explorer or a 41mm DJ, blue dial, smooth bezel and oyster bracelet and chose the Explorer but it isn’t my only watch.

I have two of these watches: Seiko SRPE53K1 and Tissot Gentleman powermatic 80(in blue as well). While the Tissot is higher class and more a dress watch, I think the Seiko can be described as a "sporty dresswatch". And the lume is awesome! Having that said: the Longines in the video is very interesting. But I would probably choose the 41mm version.

Grand Seiko Snowflake definitely is.. it's beautiful, the dial is mesmerizing, spring drive is a true innovation (IF the Swiss is the one who created this, spring drive will be over the world now, unfortunately it isn't) and the 6K price with built quality that might worth over 10k in a Swiss brand watches, or more..

I like the idea of a one watch collection. But in practice I perfer 2 watches. 1 sports watch 1 dress. I think it better to have a watch that can reallx live up to the occasion not just being pushed to do all.

This is an excellent list, which is not a surprise. I agree on the polishing on the Aqua Terra. If the center links were brushed, it would be perfect. The 41mm wears beautifully on my 7.25" wrist. I know Jody from JOMW had his center links brushed on his AT, but you've got to really trust the person doing it to not mess it up.

My favorite watch of all time is Explorer 36mm. I purchased this watch as a birth year for my son. It’s timeless, it’s beautiful and it’s a Rolex. I engraved all his information on the back case. His first and last name, birth year, birth time, weight and height. In my opinion Explorer 36mm would fit on the wrist of any teenager. And will forever remain in their collection.

Great video overall. For me it boils down to the Omega Aqua Terra and Tissot Gentleman (or PRX). If you can spend over $4K the AT is my choice against just about everything this side of $15K, as there's really not much more to be asking for until you start spending extra for Haute Horology finishing. I do wish the 41mm was 1-1.5mm thinner, but not enough for me to consider something else instead. Meanwhile, if you can't stretch to the AT (i.e. Me), the Tissot Gentleman and PRX do pretty much everything every watch in the $1-4K category can do (matching or beating them in power reserve and sometimes accuracy), while still being attainable enough that most looking at
