If the hair is not chemically treated, you don’t have to, the grease will condition the hair. If you do choose to use a leave in, you don’t need as much grease as I used.

@sherri9161 Hello, first want to note that we have different hair textures. I am more of a 4a/b. Anyhow, I wash my hair once a week in summer, every two weeks in winter. After washing, I use a cream leave in conditioner, then apply blue magic & twist up. I always apply on semi damp hair. I apply blue magic just once on wash day on my strands only. Hope this helps.

I tried it by applying three layers (nothing else), but it came out greasy. The twist out looked good but a bit greasy feeling. I did it on freshly washed hair, my hair was still damp as I had just gotten out of the shower. Maybe I was too heavy handed. Next time I'll keep a a spray bottle filled with plain water nearby to reapply water before adding the grease.. Also I have different textures (like a lot of people), so I might have to use more or less on certain parts of my hair. I won't give up on the blue magic though, I have multiple jars in my house just staring at me lol. My hair dried really fast compared to when I use leave ins, it usually will take a whole day or longer for my hair to fully air dry... so that's a good thing.
