The song now carries a double meaning. Originally, the song was written about a failed relationship that Corey had, he never said who it was but some say it’s his ex wife. When writing the song, Corey didn’t want it to be included on a Slipknot album, he didn’t think it was good enough. Paul Gray, their bassist loved the song and really pushed for the song to make it on the album. Paul unfortunately passed away not long after so the song is special in that it’s a sad love song and a song to remember Paul.

"Snuff" was created in 2008 and then use by Slipknot to pay tribute to Paul Gray (bass player) who died in 2010. This is why Corey is so emotional during this interpretation.

One of the most poignant lyrics I've ever encountered: "It took the death of hope to let you go". Such a great line.

I do hope people are also mentioning his other band Stone Sour as well. Although I believe I read that for now at least the band is disbanded. They still have an excellent catalog of music too!!! 😉❤✌

I love how the whole tone of the song changes with the line "But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight". Up till that point he's the bad guy of the relationship. She's too good for him, if you love him let him go, if he's alone he cannot hate, but then she does leave and all of a sudden she's the bad guy now. The whole focus changes to everything she should've done to save the relationship, and him. It's such a good representation of a toxic relationship and the anger that comes out on the refused to fight line hits hard every time.

One of my favorite Corey Taylor songs is the one he did with Dave grohl. It's called "from can to can't". Consider it 😉. I think it shows his range pretty well

This song is beautiful. Corey sings from his soul. He's also crying towards the end.

First slipknot I always recommend is phycosocial because I like seeing the reaction when he switches from his screaming to his singing, always catches people out

Slipknot (and thus Corey) really hits a special point on me. From the very fist time I heard them, when I was in highschool, I got instantly hooked. And no matter if it's a super heavy or soft song, I just get goosebumps anytime I close my eyes an try to follow the lyrics. I guess most people has had a broken heart at least once. I'm no exception. this song... I remember hearing it for the first time, by accident, right after breaking up with my first girlfriend and feeling REALLY hurt. This song is really profound to me for that reason. Like... It brings me back to a dark past but it's also beautiful and I enjoy it a lot. So... It's sort of like a massochistic experience for me to listen to Snuff. A guilty pleasure, one might say, that has to be carefully dosed or else it can pretty much bring me down.

Well done, Teach. It looked like you were getting a little choked up there in the second verse. I like how he pulled out the rasp to emphasize the mood of the song.

I was in a metal band about 9 million years ago and our singer said when he scrunched up his nose it was to bring the sound forward and it let him use tension without putting the tension in his throat where he didn't want it. I'm not a singer but that is the best I can tell you. Hopefully someone else has a better way to describe it. Great reaction as always. Metal has always been overlooked as just screaming and making angry sounds but there is so much more to metal.
