He started to write this about an ex that left him in a dark time. His best friend and band mate was helping him write it when he died of a drug overdose. That's why the song is so emotional and hard to sing. That's why he keeps looking up to the sky. (Correction for all you sticklers: the bandmate died after the song was written)..... still doesn't really change the sentiment, does it?

He died way after they wrote the song but still emotional

Cory didnt want to record it, but paul was on him to do it. Thats why it so hard for corey to sing it according to corey himself.
Glad you guys watched this one! He is the lead singer of Slipknot. Check em out!!! Heavy byt you will feel them for sure! Much love fam 🤘👍🏻🤙

Slipknot is one of my favorite bands. I hope they do live versions though. Especially if they do Spit it Out because their live shows are so unique. You don't get the same feel with the studio version imo

Corey Taylor is one of the best songwriters of our time. Please go down this rabbit hole. You wont be disappointed, I promise!
One of the best love songs ever. Classic. The live versions Cory sang after the death of Paul Grey (Pig) is downright haunting

@@joshuafurlong5270it still was never a love song my guy. It’s a heartbreak/betrayal song. A song being about an ex or a partner doesn’t automatically equal love song.
Love that you did this reaction video. Cory Taylor is front man for Slipknot and Stone Sour. Snuff is performed by Cory with Slipknot on their All Hope is Gone album
He's the singer for Slipknot and Stone Sour. Love you guys. Great reaction.
This is a song that’s on repeat for me. This is an emotional song especially for huge fans of slipknot and know the back story with Corey and Paul. Corey is one of the best singers in the industry for the last 20 years now that they’ve been making music.
This song is such a massive departure from what Slipknot normally produce and I can’t get enough of it. I just love this song…and Slipknot too for that matter. My favourite band of all time for sure
The most beautifully haunting song ive ever heard to date. Corey Taylor’s heart was broken in so many ways regarding this song/this particular performance of this song. If I were him, I wouldn’t have been able to finish due to the significance and heartbreak, you can hear it ALL in Corey’s voice. It’s my all time favorite performance of any song ever. I’m glad y’all chose to do this performance as a react. I hope it affected y’all as deeply as it affects me any time I hear it. The one where he’s wearing a hat is so much harder to hear, he breaks down several times but STILL MANAGES TO FINISH somehow. Just a beautiful Song about love and loss.
I've seen this probably 40 times in my life over the past year. I still get chills, and it's still amazing. Fun watching it with you guys and seeing your reactions!
Angels lie to keep control is one of the greatest lyrics
This is one of my all time favorite songs. I can listen to this on repeat - and I have. His raw vocals and passionate lyrics is like non other. You can feel the energy of the crowd around him. It’s very powerful. He had a tough life growing up and most of his adulthood as well. This song was written about an ex-girlfriend’s mom, whom he also dated. He was 19 and felt like she was the love of life. When she ended things he overdosed. She’s the one who found him and dialed 9-1-1. The pain in his voice comes from the death of a band member who encouraged his to produce the song when other discouraged him. Thank you for reacting to this version of the song! God bless you both. I know you’re having a hard time right now, better things lie ahead.
This has been my favorite song since the first time I heard it years ago ❤
"If you still care, don't ever let me know"....man, that shit cuts the soul like a knife. Just the shear awareness to recognize the vicious cycle within himself is amazing.
That last line gets me every time. Absolutely beautiful song, 1 of my favorites. Great reactions, as always, guys.
Slipknot played this at Aftershock last October. Corey Taylor is neck and neck with Devin Townsend in terms of talent and vulnerability. His lyrics with both Slipknot and Stone Sour are poetic, and haunting. Duality, Psychosocial, Sulfur, The Devil in I, Zzyzx Rd., Miracles, Dead Memories, his collaboration with the Foo Fighters on From Can to Can't... The man is incredible.
Corey is also the singer of Stone Sour as well as Slipknot. He even does solo stuff as well as collaborates with other artists such as Tech9. Any of these bands, solo or collabs you can't go wrong. He does do a phenomenal cover of Purple Rain. Also I subbed
Ive watched a lot of reactions to this song and one line never gets the attention i feel it should. It the line "angels lie to keep control". Its so deep and can be felt in so many ways.
Imagine how surprised y'all would have been if you knew this was the lead singer of Slipknot when the video begin
For just Corey Taylor I think you would like the song “From Can To Can’t” I love his voice so much. And seeing him live, he just has the ability to pull you in with him without you realizing it. Much hugs mama from a fellow griever here in southeast Texas. 💗

Underrated song imo. Honestly I think Stone Sour is better than Slipknot as a whole when it comes to discography; I love Corey's softer music side
I used to have serious heavy drug and alcohol issues, When I was in rehab getting clean, this was one of the songs that helped me cope, it was like a love/hate letter to my addiction....
Jai, I give you a big old hug. You are such a sweet soul. The video y'all did was awesome. I love Slipknot but hearing the lead singer singing solo was awesome. Great song!
Can’t remember if you guys have reacted to Bother by his band Stone Sour - if not, you should. It’s super powerful and the video is poignant. I’ve loved Corey’s voice for years.

So glad you guys did this reaction one of my favorite songs and performances of all time thanks you guys have a good weekend.
His version of purple rain is incredible. Just raw emotion
I love watching the whole show. He's such an amazing artist. Just saw one of his shows in Houston on September 24th and it was freaking awesome. Thank you for doing this reaction, it's an emotional ride but so worth it. And i have found through going through yall's videos that i really enjoy watching yall's videos. Your reactions are so honest and refreshing. 😊
One year later I still come back to this because this is a genuine reaction but for anybody new here just listen to the music listen to that audience singing with him that'll give you an idea of what this man means to people..
Amazing song! Very deep. I simply LOVE you guys.
He's the lead singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour. He also has been doing solo releases under CMFT and does all kinds of collabs with other artists so he has a very EXTENSIVE catalog! 😂
I swear I'd just searched for reactions to this performance and I got nothing but videos I'd seen before. I refreshed the page and this video popped up at the top of the page. Great reaction
" I only wish you WEREN'T my friend, then I could hurt you in the end"....🤙🏻👍🏻✌🏻
One of my favorite songs.
Amazing reaction you two! You were able to appreciate more of the lyrics than any other reactors I've seen do this song
Love this and you guys! Been following y'all for a few months now. 🤩Love your chemistry together.

I love the video of this song. When it starts with " what am i gona do with you?? Everything...."
Thank you for giving me different great entertainment.

Love you both 🙌 God bless you guys. Hey, noticed that you actually did a video on this song a year ago. This version is just the lead singer of the band Distirbed singing acoustic.
Y'all reacted to the studio version of this song a year ago. Great song!
Y'all my favorite
Corey Taylor is the lead singer of the bands Slipknot and Stone Sour. He also featured on a tech n9ne track awhile ago... 🙌
Crazy hearing you talk about forget the bs and enjoy life I just sat with my kid last night he's 14 but I explained best I could how life will move on without you so enjoy it kept it real with him about my past addiction how I lost so many friends how even more I lost so much time thinking about stuff that meant nothing just enjoy life and he knows because I'm a big ass kid but at 14 he just over thinks meaningless relationships and interactions I'm sure it went in one ear out the other but hearing yall talk about it early the next morning was dope
One of his best songs❤
I was at this show. London. Was an epic concert
The og is a thing of beauty
My fav line "it took the death of hope to let you go"
"Bother" from this same show is also very good.
Cory taylor and paul grey wrote this song, he is the lead for him, slipknot, also stone sour, he is a lyrical master. Im one of his biggest fans.

Ah.... one of my favorite bands! 🤘
If you have ever reacted to Slipknot this is the lead singer, really showing his voice. The lyrics in this are nothing short of genius.
Cory has such an underrated voice
Hi guys! How've you been? I love that you still have Ellie as your intro 💕 Take care 🙏
Slip Knot , Stone Sour , and Cory’s solo stuff all worth checking out.
This guy is one of my favs, he can give out some heavy yelling/screaming in slipknot
Love Corey / Slipknot ❤ Every song is worth a listen .
Amazing
" angels lie to keep control" best lyric of the whole song 👍
Corey Taylor is a true artist. He has 2 bands Slipknot and Stone Sour.. Both are amazing..
He wrote the song with Paul Grey and Joey Jordison about his divorce. Paul wrote a lot of or most of Slipknots songs. Sadly, they both have passed away. Luv these guys. Great music it's heavy.but badass!!! Sorry for all your losses. I totally can relate with you guys. I've experienced too many myself and watching all the death at out of proportional records. GOD BLESS YOU AND EVERYONE AND EVERY LIVING BEING!!!!!😇😇😇😇😇🤍🤍🙏🙏
He's lead singer of Slipknot and Stone sour. Both groups have amazing songs
Apocalyptica ft Corey Taylor "I'm Not Jesus", hard rock cello with him singing...fierce track. You guys might like Five Finger Death Punch "Wrong Side of Heaven" too.
Thank you...

The 420 friendly song title was PUFF the magic dragon 😂
corey taylor is the lead singer of slipknot, he wrote the lyrics himself, and his band composed the music
Puff the magic dragon... but that is gonna be stuck in my head now lol😅
There are so many reasons this song is hard for him to get thru... drug use, bad marriage, death of a close friend
Great writer
Check out Stone Sour's "Say You'll Haunt Me" Acoustic version.
You should check out Corey Taylor - Taciturn from same concert in London, the song is from his second band Stone Sour 🤘
The most heartbreaking part about the song are the millions of people who relate to it.
You guys need to try Korn Freak On A Leash
Original video is awesome
He is also the lead singer for a band called stonesour , you def need to chexk him out in that band too aswell as slipknot
agreed, life is way too short for the B.S. I wish more people would realize that and make sure to reach out to people. also there are many of his songs that are very heart felt and deep. his lyrics hold a lot. keep up the great vids cheers.
